Robotech Remastered Extended Edition

Hey Everyone

I was just curious to know if the so-called Robotech Remastered Extended Edition is merely a english version of the original Macross SDF-1?

Or does it follow the "Robotech" story line? With the difference that it also includes all of the same Animation material as the original japanese version?

Not here to start a flame topic, i just want to get some information on the matter, since i know there people in Macrossworld who are more knowlegeable in this area then i am.

It is the Robotech Macross Saga, supposedly using the Animeigo footage of SDF Macross as the basis (though some have claimed it doesn't look as good). Not all of the Animeigo footage is there, but they did "restore" some footage where they discovered old portions of the voicetrack that had been cut from Robotech.

They also redid the sound effect (and maybe the background music), to mixed reviews.

So:

1. No, it's not an English version of SDF Macross.

2. It follows the RT storyline, and includes some but not all of the Macross footage that was originally cut.

The release has been discussed to some extent here (in the Other Anime section), and extensively at Robotech.com--you might want to look in those places for additional information, reactions, and reviews.
