As a means to ease his pain, he joins his sister Nui and a group of olympic athletes on a goodwill trip to a small village. But all hell breaks loose when a terrorist group linked to General Yang wreaks havoc on the village and slaughters half of the population, demanding the release of Yang in exchange for the lives of everyone else still breathing. Daew and the athletes - along with the villagers - must use their strength in numbers to take down the terrorists and prevent them from firing a nuclear missile towards Bangkok. Lowdown Is there really a story in this movie? Not really. But then again, if you've seen Ong-Bak, then you know a movie such as Born to Fight needs no script... Just a bunch of rabid stuntmen breaking their bones in the name of high-caliber entertainment. Born to Fight puts some of Thailand's best athletes on the big screen, ranging from a female Tae-Kwon-Do champ to a couple of gymnasts and a rugby player. One guy even uses his skills in sepak takraw (a mix of soccer and volleyball) to kick wicker balls at terrorists. The numerous gymnastic stunts make this film succeed where Gymkata failed. And the stunts? How can you forget a baddie being thrown from one big-rig to another without being run over when he hits the ground? Or the other baddies falling off of the big rigs and bouncing on the roofs of other trucks passing by? It's a surprise that majority of the stuntmen merely walked out of those nasty bumps. But what about Dan Chupong, the star of the movie? Having learned from Tony Jaa, Chupong is just as insane with his array of martial arts and acrobatics. And with a wide usage of firearms to boot, he may be the next Chow Yun Fat. It's undoubtedly the most suicidal, homicidal, genocidal film to come out of South East Asia. If you crave mindless, non-stop action, pick up Born to Fight right now. Even though that film is over two decades old, it's just as insane as the new one.
