1/72 VF-11 Yamato Custom Would like to start one

hi guys i want to rebuild my ageing VF-11 Yamato it has 2 broken legs and i want to customize it useing Hobby putty and styrene sheets, but i know very little of which ones are best for use and where to get them can somebody help me out? i am thinking of trying to make it look more like the Studio half Eye version, and maybe even adding some special parts for mine only, kinda like a Gundam ver.ka upgrade. this is a serious project and i really want to do it we really need some more customs on this site.
