Question on Wonder Festival 2005 Japan

Recommended Posts

I heard some members here had been to Wonder Festival in Japan. So I have a few questions if anyone can spare a moment:

1) I have an old map of 1999 WF. And I was looking at Five Star stories dealer table. They are scatter all over different section (A, B, or C). Has they improve upon that in the last show? Concentrate them all in or near the same tables?

2) If each dealer is selling only 50 kits, how many minutes does it take for it to get clean up? And if you have to visit more than 1 table, what then? How do you pick up a few kits at a few different tables? Is there time to buy one of each before they are gone?

3) Kaiyodo.net sells advance ticket. Do they mail it to North America? There is also a program guide that shows the break down of these tables before the show. Is there a way to get one of these program guide before leaving for Japan? Or is it available in a certain web site?

4) What floor and what hall was WF 2004 Fall held? And how do you walk from section a to b?

5) Someone convinced me to get there at a certain time for line up in order to be the first patch to get to the dealer tables. Are we talking about 2 -3 am or 4 - 5 am, what's the rules of engagement?

1) they had a huge massive display area. they had it roped off and only let a couple people in at a time, there was a very long line to get in.

2) 50 kits can be cleared out in 5 minutes easy. Since most have less than 50 of any particular kit it can take even less time if it is a highly sought after item. If you want to hit more than one table you have to get there early and run very fast. It is physicaly impossible to get everything you want, you need either the timestop ablility and/or teleportation.

3) Not sure about this one, I just get it as part of a group

4) West hall block A thru E (first floor) block F (second floor) there is no wall between block A and B

5) there are many people who line up days in advance and sleep outside in the freezing cold. Bring warm clothes and food. If you leave your spot in line, make sure you have someone hold it for you. Someone you trust. Once inside, run. Have enough small bills and change so you can pay quickly. Try not to run over people, and vice versa. Good luck, you will need it.

First of all, thanks for you reply, guys.

Well, more than 1 day, that's impossible for most people. The show started at 10 am. What time did you guys get there to do your line up in the last winter festival?

And eh...there isn't anyone who "sells" his spot by chance, is there? Have you guys heard about this kind of story?

Or, let's cut to the chase:

I have seen many people at Yahoo Japan auction selling these kits for double the price, with rare cases triple the price. How would you save that process and buy from those who bought the kit NOT for modelling but planning to sell it for profit right on the stage at Wonder Festival that day?

Don't tell me I need a 6 ft. sign, I can't go that far. There must be a way around -- last time I checked, the world revolves around money.

unless you are willing to offer immediately 2 folds or 3 folds or more, of what they just paid good money for, and for queuing up the night before

I don't really see that as a problem. Think about it, the kit say is 20K yen. You now offered 40K yen. The extra 20K yen is approx. US$200. If it is a kit you really want, and WF is only twice a year, why not? In for a penny, in for a pound.

I do have 3 questions:

1) Say you want to do that, how would you do it? How do you know who bought which at the show?

2) Using the Five Star Stories kits (I know this is not a FSS forum) as an e.g., the same kits that they have with QTY 10 to QTY 50, which were SOLD at WF Summer 2004, what is the chance that those sculptor will sell the same kit at WF Winter 2005? Is it common for these sculptors to come back and get another 1 day license and sell the same kit?

3) Is there a web site shows the break down in category of different GK at the show from the past year? I have seen some magazines such as Model Graphix showing the displays, but it seems there are much more than those few dozens pictures shown.
