  1. I do know, pretty much for a fact, that the "Carl's vision" thing, is going to be Tommy's excuse to revert to if people get pissed at it. Also, it is his way of diverting blame, and to lighten people's anger. "How can we be mad, when this was Carl's last idea?"

Too late. The ban-hammer has already started to come down on those that criticize the hack-and-slash idea...as expected.

    From RT forum

    renegadeleader:

This is the breaking point where I lower my head in shame. This has to be the dumbest, laziest, and most absurd worst thing I've ever seen from robotech and I've put up with a lot as a fan.

Dammit Tommy Yune what the heck is wrong with you? Pulling this Carl Macek blending crap just isn't the right way to go...

    MEMO1DOMINION's response

YOU DO KNOW IT WAS ALWAYS CARL MACEK IDEA? WAY BEFORE TOMMY CAME ON BOARD AND WAS WORKING ON IT JUST BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY.

FUNNY, SENTINELS WAS A BLEND AS WELL AND FANS STILL WANT THAT.

part of renegadeleader's reply to Memo's response (before being deleted by Kevin)

....Macek was a fool for still trying that crap up until he died and so is Tommy for following in his footsteps.

    *out comes the ban-hammer*

Any insulting remarks aimed at Carl Macek will result in a banning.
It simply will not be tolerated here.

  2. Thanks for everyone's reply.

I would have asked Save about these before he came out to visit last month, but I just NOW found out about the figures. I'm sure he could help keep an eye out for them, but looks like these indeed are gonna cost a pretty penny. I certainly wouldn't pay $230 to that guy.

I *almost* completed the checkout process from these guys. But I didn't get a good feeling... anyone buy from "YESASIA" before? (Reputable retailer?)

    http://www.yesasia.com/us/mospeada-figure-collection/1020626463-0-0-0-en/info.html

From what I could tell, it's only for 5 figures (not a box set). So I will wait.

There's a "Mint" (Annie) figure too?

I'm mainly interested in the Yellow figures, but wow... how often do you see Mint! Cool!

  3. HLJ has a preorder for the box set, which will give you two complete sets of figures (ten figures total). It's a good deal, because the last time a set of these went up on eBay they sold for about 120-for five. However, I do not know if HLJ will ever get these, because they've been on pre-order for a long, long time. (I have had them preordered for months).

I finally hunted down one set of these, but it took a long, long time.

Keep this post bumped, and hopefully someone will help you. That's how I got my set. It took a while.

If my box set ever comes in from HLJ, I'll contact you. :)

    Good luck!

    -Bryan

You rock Bryan! Thanks for the heads up. I realize now I should have posted this under the Wanted section (any mods, please move?). I don't post often.

    Thanks again!

*** heads over to HLJ ***

  4. Had a BLAST!!! Will post pics later today. Thanks KiriK, EXO, Save, Maiden Japan, UCLA's JAC volunteers (Philip, Joe, etc...) and ALL the other event organizers who's names I can't remember- You guys did a SUPERB JOB!!!!!!!!! Very well executed program, wonderful location, and the price was right :p

So much to say... so little time right now. Just wanted to express THANKS from me and my family.

Viv Joe Miriya (aka Mimi) and Max

  5. Jason... just to clarify, it's Michael doing his acoustic set, not his full band.

I pointed this out on the RT forum: for whatever reason, HG decided to make an announcement today on their homepage that the start time is 3pm.... outside of that blurb on the homepage, every notice has said 10am-10pm. Michael said he wanted to perform in afternoon- before it gets too chilly since they set the stage outside (for him and everyone watching) and didn't have to worry about lights. Now he's being told to perform at 5pm. <_< I hope it's not to wait on other people. We had not planned on staying late. Bring your coats I guess.

  6. For me, my fandom history was the opposite... discovered Robotech first (original 1985 TV airings), Macross after (bootleg DYRL all in Japanese on a crappy VHS recording when it first found it's way here in the U.S. - whoa Rick slapped Minmay but I didn't understand the Japanese dialogue to understand why!, then Macross II, Plus etc at AX cons).

Anywaaaaay... I'll be bringing a non-Robotech item: the Megahouse Yellow Belmont Variable Action figure. The 241 will be presenting it as a group to Michael Bradley. It's the first and only toy (so far) that features the original purple hair "Yellow" character that his Robotech namesake came from.

    See you guys Saturday.

  7. Macross 11 is both mentioned in Macross English Anticipation Manga and Macross Dynamite 7.

A copycat band named Fire Bomber American translated Fire Bomber's songs in English.

Managed by the most hated guy of the original Macross, Lynn Kaifun.

Thanks for the reply to my question! It's been FOREVER since I've seen Mac7, and I've never read the manga.

I actually have the Fire Bomber English soundtrack  and dare I say, I like it.:ph34r:

Of course, not as much as the original Japanese version.

So... it wasn't Macross II (2) "Megaroad". I wonder why they took the time to draw out (very detailed) an elusive Macross 11 versus the other colony fleets out there like Macross 7, or even flash a scene to Planet Eden!

Anyway. Still a great episode... a great entire series!

    Sad it's over (for now)

  8. Ok..... great Finale episode. Soooo much to discuss... but alot has already been posted int he 50+ pages!!!

    MY QUESTION!!!!!!! -

When Grace successfully accessed the power of the fold quartz capabilities to network the entire UNIVERSE via the Queen, we see her able to open up fold portals to Earth where we see the SDF-1.... but did anyone else notice the other location shown where they show another MACROSS ???!!!! Macross 11 (as translated in the version/download I had), but was that suppose to be Macross II (roman numeral 2) as in the SDF-2?? AS IN THE MEGAROAD??!!!!!

What the hell??   Maybe I was seeing things??

If not, what the heck is the Macross 11 (eleven)??

Someone slap me silly for seeing things to calm me down... or validate me in my wishful thinking!

  9. Her name may be Miriya (which is totally cool) but not her handle.

Ah! Yes, sorry for any confusion. My kids don't have screen-names on here. I should make a note in the picture to clarify ;)

EDIT: * made a little note and updated the pic.

    Wasn't someone gonna upload a video? huh.gif

Yeah, I thought so too... like a full length video of the day, I think?? So far, only vids I know of are of Ranka, Boobytrap, and the Raffle Drawing.

  10. Hey guys, no one got a group photo with a "Who's who"?

Hmmm, I was thinking the same thing.

Well, I met alot of people that day, but I'm lost on all the screen names/handles/alias on here

So, here's what I safely know

  11. .

Miriya does an awesome Ranka! Has there been a video placed up yet? Looks like Max and Miriya really had fun!

Yep, there's a video on YouTube. My hubby RazorX put the link in the "con info" thread a few days back. Guess it was not posted here. So here you go! :)

YOUTUBE video of lil Ranka Lee (cosplay) singing Aimo Aimo at Macross Con 2008

MIRIYA COSPLAYING AS RANKA LEE SINGS AIMO AIMO AT MW CON:

    Enjoy! :)

BE SURE TO CLICK ON THE "WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY" (under the Views count). If you have high speed internet, this is the way to watch the video ;-)

As a Robotech fan, ruskiiFaussie, you might be familiar with Michael Bradley (singing voice for Yellow Dancer). Miriya also has a YouTube of her singing with him the song "Underground" from Robotech: The Movie. (minus the green wig haha!)

I do recognize your RT s/n. Hee!!

  12. Bee/KiriK- thanks to you and the rest of the organizers for putting together a fantastic event. It was our first MWCon (Razor, kids and I) but it certainly won't be our last. :)

Thanks to all the sponsors... it's good to know the industry supporters. I will make sure to buy my items from them.

THAT WAS AWESOME!!! The vid just is not as good as seeing it in person! Tell her she was WONDERFUL!

Thanks misterryno. I appreciate that. I'm glad you liked Miriya's little performance. She had just as much fun.

(on a side note... I really hate how youtube degrades the video quality on free accounts. Here's the same video on MySpaceTV:

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...ideoid=39019798 ) at a better resolution and sound quality.

So when's the next SoCal party? :lol:B)) I've got a new Macross shot glass to try out!

  13. Sugoi! Sugoi! now that's Deculture!!!!

They look great Valkyrie22. I hope their prizes weren't shot glasses.

    Ummm LOL

Actually, the prize was a shot glass....er, I mean... milk glass!!! hahaha!!

We added it to the new Macross bar, complete with the neon "Macross" light on display (we moved to a different house than before during your last visit).

We'll post pics of the "milk glass" at the Macross bar soon.

The kids had a blast cosplaying.

    Wish you were there Save!

  14. Hi!

Recently we attended the 2008 MW Convention in Long Beach, CA.

My daughter and son named Miriya and Max (yes, we really did name them that :p ) cosplayed as Ranka Lee and Michael Blanc.

They are ages 7 and 6 respectively... they had a blast debuting their characters!

We did not plan to cosplay, but the Frontier characters are so lovable, and the kids wanted to so bad...so with 3 days before the con, I gave it a shot and put something together really quick. Miriya's Ranka costume was fairly easy. I already had the green wig from when I cosplayed as Miriya (in her Meltrandi purple suit) for AX a few years back. I just cut it up best I could (I do NOT cut hair well! haha!). And I just added turquoise triangle patterns with fabric paint and red rhinestones to Miriya's yellow dress. Scarf and boots to finish it off and I was done in 2 days of prep.

Max's Michael Blanc cosplay was even easier. It's basically his school uniform he already wears (I know it's not the same lighter blue, but we were thinking cost-effectiveness and time by using existing clothes). Then my husband just freehanded some acrylic paint to create the school emblem on the pocket and the blue shoulder stripes. The tie I decorated with a gold/yellow ribbon to make the X. Ironically... just like the Max Jenius he was named after, my boy Max wears glasses (blue trimmed) and so does the new ace pilot, Michael from Frontier. He loves it!

  15. heyyyy i think i remember seeing those people (their pics on RT.com), that's their daughter and son Max and Millia! Sorry i don't know their mum's name,

i do remember seeing in her profile that she rides a motorcycle with a proper Hikaru scheme helmet! She's mega cool in my books.

Robotech.com people ftw! :p:D How many people all up got there???

    *blush*

yeah, I'm one of those RT.com "converts" :p

I'll have to post up that pic of me with my helmet that RazorX custom painted for me.

Our kids Max and Miriya were the ones that cosplayed as Michael and Ranka.

I'm glad they won a MacrossWorld shot glass for it!!! Thanks Bee! :)

  16. Hi everyone! It was a pleasure meeting you guys at my first MW Con. This is Valkyrie22, RazorX's wife.
