Phew! Survived my sister's wedding yesterday LOL!

And because of the lovey-dovey sappiness that roamed the wedding reception, it inspired me to create something just as sappy.

However this is more of my wishful thinking for the second Macross Frontier OST.

And yes, that VF-25 that you see in the background was just taken from the existing "Settei" that resides on the official Macross F website (got to lazy but perhaps next time, I'll actually illustrate some mecha).

Funny thing is that this series is seriously affecting my work projects LOL. My boss was wondering why my character designs are starting to look Sheryl and Alto....but hey...at least I influenced most of the office to watch the show hahahaha!

And I don't want to usurp Lonewolf's place, but I translated this Sheryl-centric line from Ranka's latest entry. This is from an old magazine interview that Sheryl had and the date for Ranka's entry is sometime in February.

"Sheryl Nome does not know the meaning of the words "giving in to flattery".

P.S. Ranka is such a Sheryl fangirl.

To be honest, I've been really lazy about going back to Ranka's blog(mostly because I find her blog uninspiring) but I'll try to change that soon and finish up the ones that haven't been touched.

Anyhow thank you for translating the latest and you're absolutely right.....Ranka really is a Sheryl fan.

I personally don't think "Jap" is a racial slurr, although I don't use it either - generally though I doubt people who worship Japanse anime and Macross can be accused of racism

The person who posted that particular term probably wasn't aware it was a racial slur but it is. The racial term derived from World War II when the Japanese were placed in internment camps.

Here's a quote from Lietenent General, John DeWitt who started it back then, "A Jap is a Jap"

He continues with, "I don't want any of them [persons of Japanese ancestry] here. They are a dangerous element. There is no way to determine their loyalty... It makes no difference whether he is an American citizen, he is still a Japanese. American citizenship does not necessarily determine loyalty... But we must worry about the Japanese all the time until he is wiped off the map."

So yeah...some people like my grandmother is still offended by terms like that but then again not too many people are aware of the terms origins so it's inevitable.

Lazy Sunday, and trying to watch other anime (Gurren Lagann this time around) got really boring, so I decided to finally start scanning in Macross 7 Remaster Box images. These are the 8 fold outs from Remaster Box 1; the thing is laquered to high heaven with gloss so I had to do high DPI scans, although I think it turned out well. They're all ~1150x1540, if I'm pushing space let me know mods... there's alot more where this came from

These are great! Thanks for sharing these scans!

I especially love the one with Max and Miria with a baby Mylene. And it's interesting to see Basara without the glasses for a change.

Despite the fact that she mentions her dieting quite often, her entry about her nightmare was sad actually...the more I read her blog, I can't help but wonder if her vulnerability will be her impending doom or something and she'll end up on the dark side or something. Or perhaps I'm reading too much into that particular entry...*shrugs*

I do feel bad for her...

...but I'm still in the Sheryl camp.

She continues with her stats saying that she likes cooking and music. She's still trying to learn how to cook one particular dish. Apparently she also likes Tuna (LOL)

(NOTE: Her talking about food was rather boring but I guess it's one of her hobbies LOL)

She talks about Sheryl and her new song.

She concludes by mentioning she'll continue her story (life situations?) here from now on and she gives her regards.

Ranka was thinking to herself that she wanted to try something so that's why she began this blog because she wanted to express herself even more.

She also mentions that she would like to sing so a lot of people could hear her song. She also mentions that she would like to try out for Miss Macross but she is not confident that she will make it. So she's not sure what will occur.

Ranka is saying that there were a lot of people who saw the news about an unidentified enemy that attacked Frontier and that was the day she was in town.

She was afraid but relieved afterwards because she didn't die. As she is writing this blog entry, she's still quite shaken up over the event. Lots of damage around the town and people are injured.

Each day was peaceful, she thought. But now she's not certain it will remain this way.

This is more of a report from Ranka.

She reports that a new song has been decided and being worked on. She doesn't know how she will do but she's excited and nervous. (she even does the sound effect WAAI!!)

Apparently it was being announced at the Zentaramoru Forum. She wants everyone to hear it if it's good. She still doesn't know what kind of song it is. Regardless she'll sing it from the heart.

More news...

Ranka states that she might be doing some TV work later. She concludes that since she started this job, everyday has been fun. As soon as she finds out more details, she come back and report it.

Hmmm...favorite character(s)

I'm in the Sheryl camp but Bobby is not too far behind....lol, at first I was assuming that I was the only female that liked Sheryl but reading a few past posts here, I'm happy to descover that I'm not the only female to enjoy Sheryl's presence.

I'm still waiting on the next episode for Alto's character development to decide if I'll add him to my list of favorites. Klan makes it on my honor roll list.

Rather than start up a new topic for this I though this will fit well here since it is Macross Frontier music related.

A friend of mine, Anton, recently fell in love with the Frontier ED song Diamond Crevasse. So much so that he whipped out his guitar and worked out the chords for it.

It'd probably make sense if you play a guitar, I don't so it's somewhat lost to me.

That was me, she was arguing on Random Curiosity's blog that the first girl shown is more important because it gives the viewer a connection with her. She than pointed out Misa in Macross... and than I'm like have you even watched the series? Minmei dominates the start period and Misa wasn't even a love interest until later on. That's when I found out about the instant expert recipe of 2 episodes + wiki.

Oh and I also pointed out that Deculture showed off off 1-2 mins of Sheryl before it even went to Ranka and that during Ranka's intro sequence she as standing next to a Sheryl poster. That's why you haven't seen her "shown first" argument on AS

Oh right! If I can recall, the scene in Deculture you are referring to is when Sheryl was flying towards Frontier, right? Correct me if I'm wrong...I just seem to recall the opening of the episode with Sheryl in some visors and a female voice saying "keep your seatbelts on" or something...may have to rewatch that.

I guess she's willfully constructing the series to fit her own needs which are Ranka-centric.

Gotta admit though that it would be terribly one sided on AS without her around though. Though I'm finding all these excuses for her stuffing up in True Tears funny considering she was just as adamant with that show as she is now with Frontier.

That rings true...although right now, Animesuki reminds me of the Lakers vs Celtics game LOL! Talk about vicious...

Oh well....I'm still shipping Sheryl regardless!

I find that people on generalized anime message boards don't know as much as they claim to compared to people on specialized boards like this. I wouldn't trust any polls or opinions posted there.

Yeah I seem to recall someone posting that the one particular poster that Westlo and I were referring to got her knowledge of the original Macross series by watchin 2 episodes and reading a wiki-entry. LOL.

I've been with the Macross universe since the 80's but there are plenty of details I had forgotten along the way. So that's why I'm glad to have run across this forum...the information has been enlightening.

People are a bit worked up at Animesuki over the whole "who will end up with whom" issue, right now. Much character bashing has ensued, especially towards Sheryl, given that her actions can seem so ambiguous at times. It's unfortunate that you happened to walk into some of the backlash.

LOL, yeah you're right about Animesuki!

And there's one particular poster that is such an overzealous Ranka fan that she seems to ignore most of the evidence that points to particular things that have to do with Sheryl...this poster needs to lighten up but I can't help but read her posts since I find them humorous at times. She's one heck of a Ranka-supporter Nothing wrong with it though. Shipping is fun to do but sometimes people can just go overboard...I've been guilty a few times myself
