  1. Ok, I searched and searched Macrossworld and I could find a topic of this:

I'm sure people have seen the Toynami 1/100 scale Valks by now:

    Clicky

There's also a 12-inch Hikaru, clad in DYRL flight suit. It's supposed to include lifesize dogtags and a Skull Squadron patch. Pic in latest Toyfare.

    Clicky

    Has anyone seen these?

Mods, if there's a topic on this, please point me to it as I couldn't find one!

  2. Never watched super robot shows growing up. I was always into the more "realistic" style mecha shows.

I'll just have to go with Gunbuster as I love it's design and one of the first anime series I shelled out cash for (still have my mint condition US Renditions tapes) :D

  3. I saw him in a comercial for what seemed to me to be a local law firm.. O_o

I live in Western NY, and I really didn't do any research or anything, but has anyone else seen this? I thought it was crazy, but it's actually him..

I saw him doing an ad for Brown and Crouppen, a local law firm here in St. Louis.

The funny thing is one of the lawyers (Terry Crouppen) used to do the commercials for his firm and over the years we've seen him expand just like Shatner!

    Still, Shatner's the man!

Wow! Shatner's a busy man! Here in Houston, he's featured in an ad for the Smith & Hassler law firm. They're quite amusing. The spokesman before Shatner was Robert Vaughn.

Takei coming out surprised me but it's cool I suppose. I really wanted that Excelsior show to happen and instead we got Enterprise. Ah would could have been. Remember that episode of Voyager that featured Captain Sulu and the Excelsior? I would imagine the show would have been quite like that, minus She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Mentioned. Hell, you could've had Tim Russ reprising his role as Tuvok. <_<

  4. thanks for the mp3, I lost my copy awhile back, hmm, should look for other songs, I love early 80s - I don't even know what to call this genre. Synth New Wave?

ELO, IIRC, was actually very late '70s prog rock...I'm not sure they were part of the New Wave scene.

Pat is right, ELO is generally considered prog rock/pop rock. They had a few disco tinged songs, but I would never stick 'em in with groups like The Bee Gees or KC and the Sunshine Band.

TIME is awesome, btw. It's ELO's big time travel sci-fi concept album and really stands out from their other records.

Here's the Wikipedia entry for ELO--->CLICKY

    And here's Amazon's spot for TIME--->CLICKY

Noriko Takaya is Macross World's biggest Gunbuster fan....I consider myself to be Macross World's biggest ELO fan. :p

  5. IIRC, that's about as good as it gets, unless you have that LD. I remember reading that the original master copy is/was in rough shape.

Hmm...seems I have a 70 meg .avi version of this file. The sound is really clear to boot. It has the Daicon III "recap", Daicon IV, Daicon III, and the little Daicon IV "making of" vid with ELO's "Hold On Tight".

It was the Daicon IV animation that really got me into anime AND ELO at the same time. Ah, the memories.

  6. I got to see a press screening several weeks ago, and I gotta say I think you guys will be impressed.

I went without having seen the episodes and I was instantly hooked. I had no problems going along with the story ( a friend filled me in on a few things). Of course, I had to instantly rush out and get the boxset after watching Serenity.

Overall, I think Firefly fans will be pleased.

  7. Hey guys.

Terry Funk was at the comic shop I work at last night signing his new book, Terry Funk: More Than Just Hardcore along with his co-author (and former comic shop employee) Scott E. Williams (not to be confused with Jim Lee's regular inker).

First thing Terry did when he arrived was greet everyone standing in line with a handshake. He had some cool stories and was a really nice guy!

I'll post my pics when I get a chance!

  8. I've been to their website and I'm impressed with their selection, but for some reason I'm hesitant to order anything from them. Call me paranoid.

Has anyone here ordered stuff from Hobbyfan.com? Their selection is impressive and their prices don't seem so bad either.

Do you know if they drop ship their products from overseas? I guess I could ask them myself. Heh.

Any problems; ie slow to respond to emails, slow shipping, etc.??

    Thanks in advance! B))

  9. In Black Hawk Down, there's a scene were some of the soldiers were pinned down by fire (when didn't this happen?) and a chopper flies by over head. The door gunner let's loose with the mini-gun and rains a bunch of hot casings on the soldiers.

Loved the sound effect for the mini-gun....and couldn't help imagining what it would have sounded like if it were GU-11 sized. :D
