  1. Hey all,

I have been away a LONG LONG time from Macross world. My three year old just ripped the wings off of my 1/60th Max. It was the only transforming Valk I owned. So after I zipped him in a bubble to keep him from tearing up anything else of mine, i came here to see if I could find any deals on Valks.

WOW WOW! Is all i could say about the new perfect transforming 1/60th from Yamoto.

However I searched on Hobby Link Japan and could not find them. I read through most of the 73 pages of text on the 1/60th, but I could not find out where to buy it. I think the release date is next month some time?

So where could someone living in the U.S. buy one of these with the least amount of hastle?

    Thanks,

    Irishman.

  2. To all of you savvy repainters....

I bought an ultracheap 1/60, that Im thinking about doing a custom on. Id like to know if there are any guides to the desctruction, cleaning, repainting of a 1/60?

    Thanks,

    Irishman.

P.S> I am also going to be putting a custom set of 1/60 GBP Armor on it. I know the crotch piece of the 1/60 falls off, as well as pushes out the legs to far. Has anyone created a replacement for this yet?

  3. So I have this 1/60th VF1 max genius, and there is no pilot in the cockpit. Since the cockpit opens to allow the switching of heatsheilds, I wonder if anyone has ever tried to modify the toy to put a pilot figure in there?

    Any thoughts or help?

  4. Anyone know if there are any of these still laying about? Im Interested in picking some up to use as Battletech mechs, since they are the perfect size. Anyone know if there are shops around that still have some? Or anyone have spares or dupes they would like to get rid of?

  5. Are these going to be released anywhere? Or are they the typical "One shot only available at Wonderfest" kits. Id really like to get a 1/72 Tommahawk. It would probably be cheaper to get these than the old model kits. (Come on ARII, do some reissues!)

  6. On the main page in the left hand column, under "News" there is as sub heading saying "most news is posted directly in the Macross World Forums" (With a Link to the forums). That link to the forums is broken. Ill be danged if I dont click on that first EVERY time I hit the site. So then I have go to hit the back button and go down to the "FORUMS" selection and hit that.

Please fix the first link. I got in the habit a long time ago in clicking it first to go to the forums. Old Habits die hard.

    Thanks!

  7. I looked on HLJ and found the Armor+Valk kit. What places do people reccomend purchasing the "Armor Only" versions?

    Thanks,

    Irishman

  8. Graham,

Can you confirm that this will fit the Max Jenius VF-1A, 1/60, DYRL (that dosent have the holes or the notches?) So far from what I have seen, that looks correct, but Id like confirmation from someone who has one in the hand before I order.

Secondly, anyone know what the best place in the US is to order these things?

Of the problems that exist, only two cause me greif. The "flasher" syndrome (keeps showing his nosecone to the ladies), and the leg pins. Im pretty sure I can fix the nosecone item with some gentle modeling goodness. Ill have to figure out what to do with the leg pins, and if they are replaceable with something longer.

    Thanks,

  9. Thanks all! I had no idea that asking one simple question would gather so much wisdom! :o Especialy from Blaine who showed me how to search the forums! Unfortunatly, having at least seven fingers and part of a frontal lobe, I already knew that "GBP" was only 3 characters and too short, and "ARMOR" brought back tons of stuff! :p

Sounds like Im not the only one waiting on it, or frustrated about it. of course I still run the risk that even though they SAY it will fit on all 1/60s now, that it might not fit on my Max type. Well, if so, then Im only out $25 bucks.

  10. So I broke down and bougth the 1/60 Max type, spent time worying that it would not be compatable because mine was a non FAST pack version, Was told I would be fine, and now Im sitting and waiting.

What happened to the set? Hello? Beuler?

  11. I just picked up the Yammie 1/60 VF-1A Max Genius type and its the real thing. I got it for $25.00 so Im sure this one is legit also.

    By the way.

For any of you other Yammie 1/60 owners, I can trasnform from plane to battdroid just fine, but when I try and attach the legs for gerwalk mode, the hip posts seem to knock against each other. ITs like the gerwak legs push against where the arms are, and cant get wide enough out.

    Any help?

  12. As stated above, the GBP-S will not be "off-the-shelf" compatible with the VF-1D, VT-1, and VE-1.

The FAST-PACKS are incompatible with all Valks prior to the Super -1J release.

In your post you said: (a) Wont fit the funky valks, and (b) the one I bought is not fast pack capeable. What I have not heard is that © in order to wear the GBP armor, you have to be fast pack capeable. I guess we wont know till we see it.

    But worst case:

Since I got the Pre-Fast Pack Max, I should be able to attach the arms and legs but have to drill holes for the backpack boosters of the GBP? I know that it wont fit the VF-1D, VT-1 and VE because of the nosecone and chest shapes. Im not that worried about drilling holes, even in the metal legs. Im sure I can use the actuall parts to line up where the holes need to be once I get the armor.

So I assume the leg pieces fit AROUND the legs, and either are attached with a screw through the center, into the actuall leg (where Id have to drill one), or a screw somewhere in the two halves so they clamp around the legs.

The only thing I have concerns about are some people said that I would have to cut notches in the arms. I can see this for the FAST pack arm pieces, but it looks like the arms just slide into the arm pieces of the GBP armor. so no slot may be needed.

If Im lucky, all I will need to do is drill the backpack holes, and thats not a big deal at all.

(sorry for all the posts, but its an exciting day for me)

  13. Graham!

    According to this post:

    http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=4386&hl=

You got to handle the 1/60 yammie GBP Armor.

Do you know if the armor is restricted to the Fast Pack versions or all 1/60 yammies?

    Argh! The pain! The Anguish!

Oh well, its only $35 bucks with shipping. Not like I have a lot invested into it. Ill drill it anyway.

And if I chip up the paint, there is allways that custom paint job I always wanted to do, to match the colours on my Battletech Mech from days long ago.

(hmmm Ill have to find some nose art for it also).

Graham? Any confirmation yea or nay?

  14. What!

Well I read through the recent posts, and it said that the GPB would fit all Yammies except the D, VE, and VT. In fact, thats what it says on the Valkyrie Exchange website where the GPB is for sale!

    Someone say it aint so!

    Irishman.

(but if I do have to drill some holes on it, can you buy 1/60 strike kits seperate?... OH god.. is this how the addition starts?).

  15. Well guys,

Ive been lurking here for.(checks signup date)... well.. over two years now.

Ive coveted and coveted, but having a family and two kids, I just cant spend money on toys like you guys can. I have however allways wanted to have a set of GPB-armor. I traditionally drove a Crusader back in my 1988 Battletech days, and have allways wanted one in the "big" size for my desk.

I have tried to hunt down the ArII 1/72 GPB armored Valk model, but Mr Nuggets would never sell me one for under $80.00. Geeze! I asked him if he would sell me one for around $40.. just to be nice.. its not like he is a businessman or anything...

    So I have been without.

Now with the GPB for Yammies comming out in May-June, I thought I would splurge, but the combined kit cost looks like its going to be well over $100. So looking at todays mails I saw this:

    http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/MCS-VF1A.html

The Yamato Max Jenius VF-1A, 1/60, DYRL?, Valkyrie for only $29

I Just ordered one. I really like the A head the best anyway. So I am DESPERATELY hoping that I have not made a huge mistake and that the GPB will fit this model.

So there you have it. My first Macross Valk. *sniff sniff* And soon Ill have the GPB to go on it.

  16. Actually its very common now.

Mostly from the rise of Warhammer 40K, or Warhammer Fantasy Battle, the hobby teaches its practictioners to sculpt items out of "Green Stuff" a two part epoxy resin. This Green Stuff then hardens to nigh invunerability. (Look at Reaper Minis for their "greens" section as an example.

Then you have to find someone to cast up your "Green".

From what I understand, Metal casting is pretty rare, and pretty expensive, but there are some places who will do it for you if your willing to foot the bill.
