BioWare and FUNimation Entertainment will be collaborating on an anime movie adaptation of well regarded fantasy RPG Dragon Age.

Production of the Dragon Age anime movie is slated to begin this month with a home video release in 2011. Executive producing the film are BioWare's Executive Producer Mark Darrah and Creative Director Mike Laidlaw, as well as FUNimation's president and CEO Gen Fukunaga and Director of Original Entertainment Chris Moujaes.

Dragon Age has been selected as the first title in FUNimation's slate of major anime movies to be developed through FUNimation's Original Entertainment team since the announcement of the company's co-production initiative in November 2009.

"Dark heroic fantasy" Dragon Age: Origins, reminiscent of works like George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, allowed the player to explore the history of a Human Noble, Mage, Dalish Elf, City Elf, Dwarf Commoner or Dwarf Noble before taking control of a Grey Warden in their campaign to revived Darkspawn.

Alvarez & Raimi Plan Alien Invasion

Alvarez & Raimi Plan Alien Invasion

Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Alvarez has signed a million dollar deal to make his directing debut on an alien invasion film for Ghost House Pictures reports Variety.

Alvarez helmed "Panic Attack" ("Ataque de panic"), a sub-$500 five-minute short about an apocalyptic robot attack which became an online video hit and was linked on Kanye West's official blog.

He then pitched the alien invasion idea to Sam Raimi who's Ghost House Pictures signed him up for a holding deal. A high-end screenwriter is being hired to turn the idea into a feature that if greenly, Alvarez will direct and Raimi will produce.

    The short film:

  3. American Ninja was the Ninja series that killed Ninja movies in the 80's.

I'm a huge Sho Kosugi fan so I'll see it even though I hate these kinds of cg action fighting movies. At least the head Ninja lord is actually Japanese.

as I kid I used to like that ninja movie with Franco Nero

  4. The action was good for the most part, but the movie suffered from way too many plot loopholes you can jump your car through:

    1.

Why did Destro go through the trouble of giving the Nanomite warheads to NATO when they were going to Cobra, anyway?

    2.

Why did Destro need Baroness to have her husband weaponize the warheads when he could do it himself?

    3. Why call this film The Rise of Cobra when

Cobra Commander and Destro were immediately captured?

    4. WTF is with the Night Raven being a Firefox ripoff?

Overall, I thought Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was a WAY better movie than this train wreck.

    1. Because Destro is supposed to be a "Good Guy", and amist the chaos the world was going to turn to him for help. If he gave the weapons right away to cobra they would know he was evil.

    2. Maybe because they didn't have time to take the weapons back to their underwater base?

    3. Did you miss the part with Zartan assuming the role of the President? it seemed really clear that all the pieces were in place and Destro had just been a pawn of Commander all along. Cobra commander will be probably realeased soon, and baroness will still be evil since they can still control her.

  5. Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and Legendary Pictures announced today that Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man," "Drag Me to Hell") has signed on to direct the upcoming feature film based on the award-winning Warcraft® universe.

Starting out as several award-winning PC games in 1994, the Warcraft universe is a rich fantasy setting that revolves around the epic conflict between the opposing forces of the Horde and the Alliance. It expanded into novels, action figures, apparel, comic books, board games and the famous multiplayer online role-playing game 'World of Warcraft'.

The film will fall under Legendary Pictures’ co-production and co-financing deal with Warner Bros. Pictures. Casting and release details will be coming shortly.

Raimi, Charles Roven, Alex Gartner, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, and Joshua Donen will produce while Robert Tapert will serve as executive producer.
