  1. I think the problem was/is George Lucas didn’t like the originals as much as fans. No one knew this until the prequels. I sure didn’t. I was excited for The Phantom Menace too and in many ways Attack of the Clones. I still have promotional magazines like all the Premiere issues. I saw Phantom Menace twice in theaters. I still really like the final Jedi fight. The whole problem was with the story and ignoring/changing stuff in the originals that fans liked. Making the Jedi chumps didn’t help either.

I read about that list somewhere before. People were talking about how tons of people used to watch movies back in the day. Still, I'm surprised Avatar and Avengers aren't on that list.

Not only that but back then there werent as many movies realeased each year, and those classics on the list lasted sometimes a year in the cinemas, now a days movies are pulled after couple of months, so that they can realease the bluray quick enough.

  2. I've never been a huge fan of Del Toro beyond Devil's Backbone, but I can't recall the last time I wanted a movie to succeed this much. I want Pacific Rim to be a good film for certain, but more than that I really want it to be popular and make a ton of money. If it does, it opens the door for the mecha genre in live action film. If the movie fails, it could be decades - or maybe never - that we see a proper mecha movie even attempted. At best we could hope for something like District 9, but nothing bigger. So much is riding on Pacific Rim, it's going to give me a heart condition. Oh you cruel gods, please let this be the film every potential filmmaker can point to and say "See, this kinda of mecha movie can work! Finance me!" :)

    Pan's Labyrinth was fantastic!

  3. I didn't watch it of course, but from what I've read so far, I'm rather happy they chose to remain faithful to the original character, and I mean the mythological god instead of the comics super hero: in the nordic classic tales, Thor is indeed a rather violent, stubborn and greedy character, far from the "ideal/knight-esque" man seen in the Marvel comics –thus, it makes sense to have him "punished" by Odin in order to teach him a bit of humility...

they used the same origin in the comics, that's how he got to earth

    reviews good so far

  4. Unlikely, given the amount of money this franchise has sucked in. The studio will continue pumping them out until the franchise is too old and tired for anything else. See X-Men, Spider-Man...

I don't doubt they will continue to make more probably a reboot ala spiderman, but this IS Nolans last bats film.

  5. Good argument. The casting of Ledger threw people off (people here didn't think it was a bad choice, just an odd one) and that turned out fine if not better. The same could potentially happen with Anne.

Only thing with Hardy is, he might wanna bulk up for Bane. Although I hear he looks a little bigger than the last time we saw him in theaters.

He better start lifting weights' date=' Hardy is nowhere big enough for the role.[/quote']

A press release from Warner Bros. Pictures has just confirmed the two key members of Batman's Rogues Gallery that will appear in the much-anticipated upcoming "The Dark Knight Rises" - Catwoman and Bane. Check it out below:

"Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven. “The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company."
