  2. Every time I look for the Flashback 2012 video I usually find the raw feed or another language subbed version.

I'm just looking for an English subbed version -- doesn't have to be the HD-remastered video, btw -- from an active torrent.

Sometime ago I synched some English subs to a RAW release of Macross Flash Back 2012 DVD. You can find the torrent link to the video and the corresponding subtitles here.

  3. I still have all the PsychoKorps scripts I got from way back in the day. Always intended to do a resub on the DVD boots I got a few years back, but never got around to it.... Would be great to find someone else who has done it for me. How are the CentralAnime subs?

Are those scripts already timed in .SRT format or similar? In that case I would like to check if they work together with [TV-Japan]'s RAW release of the series.

  4. Any ISOs of it on the web yet?

NyaaTorrents recently announced a RAW from what I believe is this new Macross Flash Back 2012 DVD. Picture quality is somewhat better than previously available rips but still lags behind the quality found in the AnimEigo SDF Macross DVD set or the remastered DYRL movie.

I took the liberty of adapting some English subs to this release, please give them a try and let me know if they need some further correction:

Macross Flash Back 2012 English subs

  5. Actually, I don't think there's a good HK set out there...the subs are all variable and they either cut off the opening and endings, or the next episode previews, or the last few seconds each episode of D7. You're probably better off just downloading Central Anime's fansub.

Do you have by any chance Central Anime's and/or PsychoKORps' fansubs in .SRT or similar format? IIRC, Central Anime's release was hard subbed and its picture quality is noticeably inferior to some newer releases encoded in x264 that are floating around now.

  6. Hi, this might not be fully apropriate for a first post, but if anyone here have the G_P v2 version of the movie and kind enough to seed it I would be grateful. I'm currently stuck at 92.9% completed

I recall having difficulties with this particular file, there were like 10+ leechers, my upload bandwidth was almost maxed out while downloading at a mere 1kb/s, probably due to people having multiple downloads at once or slow connections. I will help but please do your part, do not finish the transfer once it reaches 100%, continue seeding until you get a share ratio of at least 1 (preferably more).

  7. Set A http://www.robotech.com/store/viewproduct.php?id=93 Restored, Japanese with Eng Subtitles.

Set B http://www.robotech.com/store/viewproduct.php?id=242 Restored, English Dub & Japanese with Eng Subtitles.

FYI: Set A release is commonly known as "Animeigo" while Set B is known as "ADV". ;)

I believe the consensus here is that, unless you really prefer dubs (no matter how badly done) over reading subs, then Animeigo is the way to go. Animeigo's sound quality is superior to ADV's and the whole DVD set is cheaper to boot!

    To answer your questions:

About the animation (or video quality): Both use the same restored video, but Animeigo has the edge as it is progressive scan whereas ADV is interlaced

About the subtitles: I believe both versions use basically the same subtitles with some minor corrections in ADV. They are official subs anyway so they are as good as they get.

About the dub: I think one member of this board described ADV's dub as "beyond suck" and many others have voiced similar opinions but this is a subjective matter. Personally, I agree with those comments, after previewing some episodes I felt some characters were overacted, some accents were way too "American" for my taste (nothing personal, mind you), Hikaru's voice was childish/unbearable, etc. Also worth mentioning is the fact that ADV's English track has had some (all?) sound effects replaced by different versions.

For more information you should check this nice review written by Hurin and also some past threads here and there (there's some confusion in the first 30 posts of this one, though)

The only complain about Animeigo's release was regarding the discs' cracking tendency (something to do with the material). Not sure if this problem has been addressed already.

  8. LOL :) If I had pictures, I'd post them, but you're wasting your time. The Animeigo set on DVD has the best picture and sound quality for the SDF Macross series of ANY release thus far. Unless the series is released in high definition, you won't find a better release in any other format or by any other company, ADV included.

Yeah, I'm aware of that, just want to take a look and make up my mind before shelling out the somewhat expensive international shipping fee from robotech.com's store :o
