...Just checked the opening from episode 1, Megaroad-4 was the ship that discovered Eden according to the map. The ship could have after finishing its mission been reconfigured and sent back out as a ship of the line and eventually become part of the research fleet.

Personally I find myself to be totally freaking awesome.

Well they don't really spread people out enough to drop the detail completely out. Though I have noticed they seem to be trying to fake some pretty extreme camera lenses which gives some shots some interesting looks. Though I didn't really equate that to any of the odd shots in this episode...

... Still things could be worse... We could be sitting here discussing how they used the same animation over and over and over and over and over and over...

Did the major ever looked like that? No.

Did Horo looked like that in an episode? No.

Did Van or Hitomi ever looked like that? No. (unless you are complaining about their long nosed char designs which were abit strange but at least its consistent)

I think this should be considered more of a soft focus treatment, Also there's a lot of movement directing you away from the people in the backgrounds lets face it people its animation and the shots are set up to attract your eye to a certain part of the screen, your not supposed to be focused on Ranka so why draw her perfect in this shot?

I personally find most of the animation issues comes up in the connecting shots and filler shots... which at least at the animation studio I was working at were kind of the de-stress scenes. Basically the important scenes get alot of effort and the fillers/montage scenes just don't get the same effort, even from the same animator.

Well considering the first guitarist appeared to be sitting next to a display of guitars and it is a shopping district I kinda get the feeling that he's at least actually there. Though I'm taking a leap of faith in reasoning that since she has a mic she might have had to go to said music store to get it... but theres also the cartoon logic route in which all discusion of the scene is purely stupid to partake in and we should just sit back and go wow that was a wicked!

And once a safe solar system is found with plenty of resources, why even bother going through all the trouble of terraforming a planet and transplanting plants/animals?
