Er... um... I don't know how to tell you this, so I'm just going to kind of blurt it out.

    You're about a year late.

Macross Plus's 25th Anniversary was back in 2019... as the first episode of the OVA was released on VHS and LaserDisc in Japan on August 25th, 1994.

(quadruple facepalm and damn google search)

    Mmmm...

that kinda explains everything... Thanks Seto Kaiba.

  2. Hi all,

several weeks ago I realized (yep, I'm turning really old) that there must be some important date regarding one of the best anime of the macross saga: Macross Plus. The official launch date was August, 27th, 1995, so it is turning 25 years old in just some days from today... And I do not see any kind of event, or celebration mecha... Am I too disconnected from the forums? T_T

Sorry for bothering if there's a thread already opened for this discussion I haven't been able to find... But let me take the opportunity to say hi to you all and wish you and your families are all safe and sound and to keep safe!

    Manu

PS: BTW, huge thanks to Shoji Kawamori and his team back then to create what is (at least for me) a really fine masterpiece which let me dream... and fly away with those caracters (Isamu, Guld, Myung) and those 3 mechas (vf-11, yf.19 and yf-21).

  3. G1 fan at core, I have to admit that I'm more of a TF Prime fan. Even though I do not really like the kids, I have to admit that the way they described the rise of Megatronus, his relationship with Orion Pax and how things evolved... I loved all of it. Did not like much how it finally ended, but overall, haven't seen anything better since then.

Not really excited with this new movie though. We will see anyway.

  4. What a disappointing series overall. It had so much promise in the beginning, yet it resorted to fillers and plot dumps halfway. Furthermore, it suffers from having just too many characters. As a result, the final episode was a completely forced ending that merely rips off every Macross ending.

Overall, here's how it ranks on my list:

    1. Macross Plus (1994)

    2. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross (1982)

    3. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love (1984) / Flash Back 2012 (1986)

    4. Macross Frontier (2008)

    5. Macross Frontier Movie Duology (2009/2011)

    6. Macross Zero (2002)

    7. Macross 7 (1995)

    8. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross II: Lovers Again (1992)

    9. Macross Delta (2016)

    10. Macross Dynamite 7 (1997)

Man, cannot agree more. Just to add sth, this series has an incredible J-Pop overload... Basically, I love Macross series for the mecha side, the action, and the plot. Yes, the usual triangles add some twists and turns of the main plot, but even though music is an important part of Macross, the amount of Jpop in Delta is even above Macross 7 and dynamite...

First episode brought a lot of promises and hype... but it turned out to be mere smoke...

  5. if this is the same story, I remember it being because this certain someone couldn't figure out how to transform his 1/60 yf-21 properly, got frustrated, and threw it against a wall...

I think it spoke more of what type of person he is than the quality of the toy, imo.

Let me make myself a little clearer: when I said

"I can barely remember something related to poseability and joint durability and by the next paragraph, a yf-21 was torn to pieces against a wall. Poor semi-valk thing."

    I really meant:

"I can barely remember something related to poseability and joint durability and by the next paragraph, a revoltech yf-21 was torn to pieces against a wall. Poor semi-valk thing."

I don't remember, in the years I've been lurking around (like 11yr or so), Graham actually breaking a Yamato valk (other than QC issues, like "damn tab B" syndrome for the old 1/72 yf-19).

And please do not kill the messenger nor use him in your private wars... prettyprettyplease... I haven't said the omega pants thing for a loooong time...

    Regards,

    Manu

  6. Please elaborate on this "thrown into a wall" story.

IIRC, it was long time ago, when comparing the revoltech vs yamato's counterpart... The phrase "... yes, I can be brutal sometimes..." is still in my head since then.

I can barely remember something related to poseability and joint durability and by the next paragraph, a yf-21 was torn to pieces against a wall. Poor semi-valk thing.

This was the reason why I've never bought yf-19 and 21's revoltech.

  7. There may well be multiple releases earlier in the year of something. Just wait and see.

    Graham

I don't know 'bout you all, but I think I'm hearing Graham's evil laughs in Spain, without Skype nor Google talk.

Same again... year after year... :(

    G-man, you got no heart!

    Sigh.

Looks like there's no other thing to do than wait. We haven't been able to break is PC's security, hack into his hard drives...

  8. Can we take this as an "unofficial" confirmation of a revised YF19 in the near future Graham?

mmmm... don't think so... nothin' is leaked on his avatar... yet. Maybe Yamato is waitin' on the 20th mac+ anniversary, which will happen in 2 years...

Who knows. Anyway, I would sooooo much to get a v3 (or even v4) YF-19... I think it's one of the most preferred mechas in the macross universe in this forum.

    Please, Yamato! ^_^

  9. Well, there goes my plans on buying a 19 anytime soon. Now that I will probably wait for a new 19 altogether, should I wait for a new YF-21 to have a new matching set even though I haven't heard anything wrong with the 21? Hmm...

Hi, the 21 is a must. Period. Together with the VF-11B, I highly recommend 'em both. Even though my experience with the lil'ol'19, both valks belong to a whole different league.

You should take a look how sleek they look in fighter mode. 100% anime acurate. Yamato does not state it, but whooshes and barrel rolls are allowed and supported without parts fallin'. Me pretty sure 'bout that. ^_^

  10. Hi folks,

due to the fact I'm one of the affected right-arm self-breakage, can anybody prettyprettyplease tell me if there's a chance to get a right arm replacement? If so, what's the procedure to follow?

Kind regards and thanks in advance.

  11. Pardon me Shaorin, but I do not handle these valks like normal toys. Heck I don't even handle my normal toys like toys. In fact I have never broken any of my macross collectibles. I truly like these valks and I treasure them for what they are: works of art.

The main point here is to get replacement parts for our "precious" collectibles. Disintegration of joints is the subject here, so pleeeease reserve the sermon for another thread.

    Thank you for understanding,

    in advance

    Hi everyone,

add me to the list. I begun reading this thread a couple of weeks ago, and finally today I had the chance to go to my beloved YF-19 (yep, it's been my favourite mecha since the very first time I saw Mac+). I hadn't transformed it for a while (since may, I think), and... damn, right arm broke at the shoulder joint. Man, it broke to pieces. I'm trying to repair it with super glue, 'cos I was waiting for a 1/60 yf-19 for years, and finally bought a 1st version. Damn, I love this valk!

BUT, in this point, let me state a couple of things:

    1) Yeah, Yamato has done by far the best replicas in the market, so their products are the best replicas. Period. ^_^

    2) Lots of manpower are dedicated to these valks, and that's one of the reasons they're so expensive. Accepted and OK. That's why I'm buying Yamato and not Bandai. ^_^

    3) I treat ALL of my valks and transformers (and legos, and all my stuff) with extreme care. What I'm not doing is shut my mouth and don't complain because a 200$ toy/replica/howeveryouwannacallit breaks itself.

Yamato has a point to improve: QC. I think it's our major complaint. Yamato please, take note and apply some action plan to improve.

It's not going to stop us MWers buying Yamato valks, but it's very likely we begin to think twice before we do.

Graham, what are we supposed to do now? Is it possible to get replacements?

Anyway, I'm keeping now high hopes for the YF-19 v3, and maybe buy a v4 yf-19 without v3 flaws (...).

I hope I'm the last one to report this problem.

    Regards people,

    Manu

  12. I would completely like a new YF-19 re-issue. when comparing the VF-11b and YF-21 with the YF-19... well, the latter doesn't have the same finish as the 11 and the 21 have. And seeing what Yamato has done to the VF-19 fire valk... well, it makes me want the same finish to the 19, which is my favourite mecha.

So yes, I would completely like a new v3 YF-19!!! Please Yamato!!!

  13. Bugs/design-flaws:

    - Gunpod angles about 20 degrees to the right(?) STATUS: FIXED

    - Loose wing roots (actually, the swiveling joints that hold the wings on the battroid's hips) STATUS: FIXED

    - Random reports of loose shoulder joints STATUS: SUBJECT TO QC?

    - Super-tight neck cover STATUS: NOT FIXED

EDIT: Probably one of two others as well, but this is all I can remember for now.

And the Jan Neuman figure and his backseat. And a "display rack" for the fold booster.

Remember to add the "angled rear landing gear" to the list of initial release flaws. Not sure if it got fixed, tough.

  14. Hi Kevin,

great news! Yeah, I'm interested on getting one. Please tell me how to move everything.

I'm PM'ing you in a couple of minutes.

    Thanks for your help,

    Manu

    Hi Kevin,

just received your shipment. Perfect!!! Can't wait to see it all assembled!!!

    Many^(a lot) thanks!!!!

    Manu

  15. I found the hip joint kit. It should be for the 1/72 version 1 since the hips were redesigned for the FP edition. Asking $10 for the part. It should be $16 shipped to Spain. LMK if you are interested.

  16. I might have an original Yamato replacement hip kit. Let me check.

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

thanks!!! If you find a hip kit, can you please confirm price and shipping? Finally, can you please tell confirm if the replacement is for the original 1/72, not the FP edition?

    Thanks everyone,

    Manu
