  1. Chapter closes with the sad, sad scene of an injured Gamlin trying to give the music box to Physica's family and inform them of his death, only to find out that they've "moved on" to another man/father. It's a scene that somehow contrasts with the general lightheartedness of the show in my view and gives the series a bit more serious tone

Funny. I alway thought Gamlin reaches Phisica's wife and child and "imagines" his late comrade (the guy who greets his family) going back to his loved ones. Only he knows it will never happen, so Gamlin doesn't find the courage to give them the carillon.

  2. The whole book is only lind art. Between 80 to 120 pages IIRC (will check later). Lots of character & location art and mecha art of VF-22, Graham's armor & Zolan patrol ship and maybe VF-5000.

Thanks a lot! I hope they reprint most of it in Chronicle, as it seems really hard to find on the market.

  3. I've found that removing the missles by tilting them forward works better than pulling them straight out. This way the back end of the missle clusters braces against the wing and adds more force to get the peg out.

thanks for the advice, I'll try that way with the surviving pegs

  4. I'm always up for a little variety in Color schemes, I just prefer the color of the 1A CF better!! B))

I like variety and I hope the 1J stays the same, but.. I must confess I like the 1A color better, too ^_^

  5. DYRL ver

This picture is a modified skull squadron picture, as there is no official color lineart for the DYRL standard VF1A (the one in Entertainment Bible 52 sports a TV head, so...). Looking at the movie, in one scene the 1A battroid can be clearly seen and has the black stripes as shown above (but is also white and not brown around the leg intakes...)

  6. I sure hope so, makes no sense to have one really light and the other one the accurate color shade!!

There's a previous case of CFs having two different shades of brown. The original v1 1/60 1A had a regular (light) version and the TOYSrU limited edition (darker).

Quite frankly, I wouldn't mind two different colors, I like my walks to have some difference or else I found out I'm not inclined to buy them (see DYRL Hikaru VF1S and 1A).

  7. No need...I finally broke down and bought the damn thing on Ebay last week (it's the US version from Books Nippan -no, it' not in English- and I got it for $21.50, which seemed fine to me).

And yes, the 39-Episode plan ends with "Love Drifts Away, but has an epilogue as they go into space, fifteen years later. But Max and Millia's sbplot seems like it would've gotten more development. They fall in love in episode 35, but wait until episode 38 to get married.

Oh, and the omnidirectional barrier destroys the Moon in episode 30.

Does the 15 years later epilogue say something of interest? I'm curious!

  8. I understand certain details can not be retained like the 1/48 line, but at least give us a removable missile pod like the 1/48 line so we can store the missile custers in them.

    pod2.jpg

That's why 1/48 rule!!! Just bought my first 1/48 Armor and I must say that 1/48 VF-1J+Armor Pack = Absolute Awesomeness. Nothing can beat it. ^_^

  9. Not a broken shoulder warning, but I've got to report that my Hikaru 1S broke the missile pods attachment on the wing on the first removal. The part where the pod attaches to the wing just came out along with the missiles. Nothing that some super glue won't repair, but maybe they've used some crappy plastic for these new toys?

  10. On the contrary, I only know of the difference in the head (and the glove hands of course), if not counting for the super parts.

The TV 1S has black arrows on the sides, and DRYL 1S has yellow ones.

No one ever mentions that the TV1S is not white but light gray.

  11. I can see that...like Mr. March, this was the first time I'd ever followed a series in this way (I kinda/sorta did it with MacZero here, but I had dial-up at that time and couldn't download any of the episodes, so I was going with HK bootlegs, which came out a few weeks after the episode's release. As such, I was already way behind the thread by the time I got the DVD).

In a way, it was nice, because none of my friends in real life were following the series, so at least I could talk about with others, and in a lot of ways it did help build my enthusiasm.

A lot of the overly negative people bugged me at the time, and a lot of the more "out-there" theories had me shaking my head (Remember when a few people were saying that they saw a human figure inside the Vajra that reawakened in Episode 5...?).

But once the shipping wars spilled over into MW, I found myself wanting more and more to watch the series by myself. But I kept coming back, because I wanted to hear what people were saying, and share what I was thinking.

All in all, it was interesting...but I'm not sure I'd want to go through it all again.

Same here. It was the first time I watched an original series as it happened, and I could'nt help coming here just after every episode. It was strange, fun and frustrating at the same time. An unusual expereince, but I won't do it again, I think.

On a side note, having to wait a week or so between episodes made my mind conjure up theories and expectations that in most cases were frustrated in the next episodes, so I think that watching the series when all the episodes are already released could be a much more satisfying experience.
