  1. Starriors. Each one had a wind up feature and interchangable limbs.

Sectaurs - Pretty articulated figures that rode on giant bugs, which were actually hand puppets. Awesome!

MASK - vehicles would transform into battle vehicles. Loved the main bad-guys plane that transformed into a helicopter. THe main good guy's car had opening gull-wing doors.

  2. Could we actually get some confirmation that it is happening before we bitch about HG? So far it is one of those: "A friend of a friend said.." things. With all the attempts to bash HG/Toyname on this site, I'm not putting faith in a rumor. I want a first hand account.

Also, if it is true then HG does have some ground if they are just trying to stop VF-1 toys from being sold. Yamato VF-1 toys cut into Toynamis sales. HG owns the rights to the TV series, which has the VF-1. The DYRL VF-1 is not different enough to distinguish it from the TV version. Yes there may be some minor differences (I sure can't tell) but not enough to make it easily distinguishable. If you had a TV Valk and a DYRL Valk sitting next to each other on a table and you asked people walking by if they were the same or different, everyone would say they are the same thing. Anyone who thinks some judge is going to say they are different enough as to not be mistaken for each other if fooling themselves.

  3. HG has approved of items (made by Matchbox) for SC in the past so they never tried to sweep it under the rug.

Items for SC in the origonal line

    12" Dana (2 versions)

    12" fashions (for SC dolls)

12" Hovercycle for the dolls (only 12" vehicle made)

    Hovertank - transforming

    Bioroid

    Hoversled

    Dana

    Zor

    Robotech Master

    Bioroid Terminator

None of these were repackaged Japanese items. They were 100% brand new productions. I'd say HG/Matchbox put some effort into SC before. Of course, fans mostly stuck to Macross/New Gen. As Agent One said, any company will base its product lines around what will sell. SC just isn't the big seller so it will get the least amount of products.

I would like to see Super Posables of the Hovertanks. They did have variations in colors so toynami could make those.

  4. It may look like it's painted over, but it may either be the heat sheild in place or it's just the camera angle.

Yes it is the shield in place. The transparent cockpit is in the box.

  5. I won this auction the other day and already recieved it (so this is not something someone to bid on so it does not go in the auctions thread).

Considering that Bandai will probably never reissue this one, I figured I might as well get the old version. The only thing that I can tell it is missing is the little Minmay figure. It has the cockpit parts, small missles and all the armor pieces. The box is also pretty nice. What is the average going price for these (no it is not for sale)? Did I get a good price or did I spend too much?

  6. transformer headmasters were a for part series (to sell toys) daniel and spike and  a few autobots crash land on a far off planetdaneil is hurt some how and the auitobots decide a few of them need up grades to fight better so they get syimboates to help and they transform and fit as the heads.

ok i know the eps you are talking about...think it was called Rebirth. I just assumed they would make that part of the current TF box sets. that kinda sucks that they're not included.

Rebirth will be a part of Season 3 part 2 box set.

I think the Headmasters they are talking about is the Japan-only series. It is about 40 episodes long and has nothing to do with Rebirth.

  7. Since everybody likes to accuse Lucas (or Luca$ as some write it) of milking SW for all its worth, he should put out the SE now and then in a year, put out the origonal edits. Whine and moan all you want, you know you will be waiting in front of the store to buy the movies again.

  8. SEED, however, has scored as the least popular gundam show ever in a poll taken of gundam fandom. check out the numbers HERE its towards the bottom of the page. granted the results are mostly from the hardcore long term fans, but they are an important segment of the market.

How did SEED do where it really matters...the TV ratings?

  9. I think it because Bandai releases the figures along with the show. SD Gundam is the new thing so they will put out SD stuff right now. When Zeta is released or about to be released, the Zeta figures will be in the stores.

If they released Zeta figures now, most kids probably would pass them over since they have no idea what the Zeta Gundams are about. I passed on getting any G-Gundam figures until I saw the show. Once I saw them in action, it made me want them.

    VE-1

It so ugly its cool. Just imagine be the cool guy that gets to pilot it.

I always imagined it was punishment for something. Try piloting something with a giant dish on its head and probably no weapons. "You screwed up so you get to fly this awkward looking thing that would loose a fight to the French."

  10. Of course there are times when the English word is spoken when there HAS to be a Japanese word for it. Numbers is an example.

I have a theory that there are Japanese viewers who watch these and go "WTF did they just say??". I know many japanese people know some English but not everyone.

Other conpiracy theory. They are secretly converting all world languages to English so they don't have to put up with fans whining about subtitles/dubs.

  11. Considering a big name like Spielberg or Brukheimer(sp?) would be making it, it would probably be cool.

    My choices:

Lupin III - Jim Carey as Lupin easy to do as a comedy/adventure

Gunsmith Cats - just a normal detective movie.

Macross DYRL - just a live version & a scrolling text to tell what happended before or another movie as a prequel.

Gundam - make a new AU so you don't have to worry about anime backstories

Ramna would be funny but audiences probably wouldn't go for it. Still have the karate but tone down the extreeme jumping stuff.

  12. If they do release a special edition of DYRL, I hope it comes with English subtitles. Just to piss HG off may give them some incentive. More R2 releases are having subtitles included, so the possibility is there. Should be no different than our putting extra language tracks on R1 discs.

Considering that it would be an R2 disk, HG would care less. It wouldn't play in a US DVD player that wasn't modified to be regionless. I don't think there are as many modified players as people think. Considering the price will be pretty high to import it, many will just go for the bootlegs or wait for HK to bootleg the new R2 version.

  13. Everyone keeps talking about RT looking back at it. Do you really mean that as a little kid, you wouldn't be confused a little at a whole new intro even with the same name & music?

Remember, RT was one long story, not three separate stories. It all ran over a few months, not a few seasons. Different seasons did have different openings back the (TF, GIJoe). Besides the same music & title, familiar characters were still seen in the new intro. Since it was a 100% new cast for each portion of RT, no familiar characters could be shown.

I did like the blending of the 3 shows that RT used for its opening/endings. I agree they should have had one extra text flash with mention of the Japanese creation crew but there is nothing that can be done about it now so no use in loosing sleep over it.

  14. Reissue Bandai:

    1 Hikaru 1J

    2 CF 1A

    2 Hikaru 1A

    1 Max

    1 Millia

    1 VF-1S

    1 Super VF-1S

    2 Jetfires

    1 Old Takatoku/Bandi Max 1J

    1 Super-O (partial armor)

    1 Strike Hikaru 1S (no-armor)

    Joons:

    2 Green

    2 Max

    2 Millia

    2 Hikaru

    3 Red/White/Blue

25 Total Wow. Didn't realize it was this much!

This is not even counting the bootlegs.

  15. According to the novels, the city was pretty much radio-active after the fight. So the RDF bulldozed the remains of the city into the lake, filling it in & then covering everything with dirt (to hold in the radioactivity) The mounds were the three ships that were sticking up above the water level. Seemed simple for me to go with the 3 mounds = 3 ships explanation. I know they are not related in the origonal series but I can believe while watching RT.

  16. I have the origonal US metal release Voltron. Still in great condition after almost 20 years. One recent Voltron that I like is the 1 1/2 FOOT version that came out a few years ago. It looks pretty much like the origonal except being huge!!!!!!! It is plastic but woth it.
