  1. I think that any of the occasions where he charged through heavy defenses to his target, be it a mark or a rescue, would qualify to make him a war hero. Even Ozma and Micheal considered his first charge to be suicide but he pulled the wayward specialist out of harms way, and came back with the more expensive(and data laden) of the two fighters.

But lets face it Alto was more or less a high school student in pilot curriculum, who was doing work study with SMS. Not really in so much the best position to be making command or political choices like Hikaru.

  2. A Macross class ship has always struck me as being a BattleCarrier as it is both a battleship and a carrier. Even the NMC granted its more Carrier then Battle compared to the other two. It makes sense if an enemy can jump you at any range to have very well armed carriers.

As far as the Quarters role? Flanker/Ship Killer/Scout/Power Projection. So Light Battle Carrier

  3. But given how the battle happened with a bulk of Ghosts and likely unmanned VF-27s I wouldn't make it past Grace's cohorts killing the NUNS personnel.

When Alto entered Battle Galaxy nobody stopped him.

If there was anybody in the way, they likely got spaced on Alto's way in. I would have busted through all but the last two bulk heads just to make sure the crew had more problems then me.

  4. So how did Isamu used the flight stick to melee hit Guld with his gunpod? How did Hikaru Grab Minmay? I think there must be a way to simulate arm and leg movement in the earlier VF's. My take is that there must be some sort of control system with set controls to perform close combat manuvers and human like tasks. A possbile way is to have different modes for VF. A targeting and weapons mode for shooting, a close combat mode that can be triggered with proximity, and another "human mode" for tasks. All controlled by sitck you ask? Well the tasks will be preset to different movements or buttons on the stick. Basically the pilot inputs the task to be done and the valk does the rest. In other words....just like playing a video game. Press a button the character shoots, press another button, the character jumps.....problem solved.

Add that system in with one of these and there you go you get to know the menus and i am sure you could fly through commands.

  5. Its unpredictable. But at this point of history people will still be weary of AI as a group of humans willing became machines and tried to take over the galaxy.

Unless Luca starts to create a Macross or Valkyrie version of the Bolo. Utterly loyal to humanity to the point of self sacrifice.

A valk with a personality of it's own would be very interesting considering they already are a big part of the series supporting cast. I've always figured a valk has some rudimentary self awareness not unlike a horse or any other beast of burden. But if it was fully aware we'd really start seeing pilots talking to their planes.

  6. Well for a future series how about another miclone race like us who is expanding its empire.

We may be viewed as threat being a competition to their expansionism.

Where for the humans and Zentradi it is a matter of survival for the alien miclones it is to create an empire to rival that of the Protoculture's Stellar Republic.

With a one track mind that they should be the only children of the Protoculture.

    Now I like this idea.

  7. Well it could be many things really. One thing that occurred to me, after the first battle Luca's ghosts were the only ones flying. Until the scout ghost found the Varja planet. Perhaps the bio-neural chips are less sensitive to interference from the Varja, so Luca just used them with the a standard operating system so that the AI wasn't running. Figuring he might need it at some point he tweaked and loaded the AI into the memory and locked it.

Now this is Luca and he loves his machines. He takes care of them and talks to them, Honestly considering that I wouldn't fear those three ghosts even if their were always unlocked. One of those ghosts made it quite clear why when it saved Luca. A self preservation instinct is not by nature good or bad, it's all about how the intelligence interprets that instinct. Take any one who is a parent, lover, or friend. I am all of those and there are people I would die for, and this is while having that same instinct to live that kept me alive when i should be dead through a nasty car accident.

  8. Did the music work for the series? Could it have been better?

I dont think any anime series has gotten the type of treatment Macross Frontier got on the music department, ever, period. Of course some songs are better than others, but I dont see any way they could have done better, over half a million CD singles sold, not including the OST, 5 singles breaking the top 5, just WOW.

I agree with you but Yoko did a damn good job on Ghost in the Shell SAC. Oh and lets not forget M+.

  9. Well if you think about it the one show that has been truly alien vrs human was the original. All the others were human created/by/from. Sharon apple was made by humans, and we all know Guld's story. The Vartua were made from the M5 fleet with the real enemy being the protodelven. Dynamite added pirates, space whales, and the Zolan to the mix. Bird man was more an object then a side, the combatant enemy was the AUN.

With frontier we had it backwards from M7, where the main combatant was a new alien but they were being manipulated into attacking the good guys by the bad guys who were more humans from within the NUN. I guess this would be the first case of fleets fighting over a planet though for different reasons, power vrs survival.

  10. Well the supervision army is an old adversary of the Zent. So they have faced them before no biggy, mind you it would be neat. Plus in M7 you had the Vartua who are to the UN/NUN like the supervision army were to the PC/Zent.

You have to consider escalation on both sides too... soon the NUN will be able to move about the Galaxy as though the whole thing was in Earth's back yard with the new fold drives and such. Maybe its time to do a mad chase across the Galaxy or a civil war perhaps. Its pretty clear statement Having Battle Galaxy show up that human society is falling apart again. People are so separated that while they consider themselves humans they are not all Terrans.

Maybe Grace should have succeeded at least it would have truly unified human kind for once, well after all the non cyborgs were killed off. So wait does that mean that all M-galaxy civilians are now in slave mode like Brera, If so scary... How bout this for an enemy, a million VF-27s with internal fold quartz boosters... That would be a force of nature on a galactic scale

  11. The only thing there new and interesting is the G limit of the VF-25: 27.5G

This is the what the YF-19 was: +31.0/-18.5

Pulling up, even the YF-19 exceeds the VF-25 significantly?

Incidentally this is the G limit of the VF-22: +60/-45

So yeah... the VF-25 has massively more powerful engines than the VF-19 or VF-22 but is not any faster nor can it accelerate any better =X

I'd wonder if that isn't that rating for max g with pilot for the VF-25

  12. WOW.... There was a scene in the last episode of E7 when Holland charged his brother's ship, that one scene filled me with such a rush. It is by far my favorite Mecha moment in the whole series. The last episode of frontier had me on that rush for nearly the entire episode. That's tough to do, I still think that moment when Shin and Nora were twisting it up in the last episode of Zero had more intensity than nearly any other Dogfight in the series but the Episode as a whole just blew the doors of everyone else.

I loved Alto's salute to SMS-007 as she went down. I guess words can't even express the thanks he had for that bird. But that's three fighters he burned through in this series, is that a record?

  13. Having had experience with what a native-english speaking Japanese girl sounds like (in both english and japanese) I've gotta say I really think it's most likely a white girl and not at all asian because of the pronunciation and the way she hits the notes... gah, this is hard to explain but it also has to do with her singing tone.

Your right, its the nasal cavity

  14. Back on a half serious note, the existing human communication system is network based. So other NUNS worlds and fleets would pick up the message first, they could choose to act of their own accord and move faster than the NUNS government. So I could see any Zent fleets in the area or other colony garrisons that aren't too far away. Now it would be cool if the quarter pounder showed up with a couple more ships,... like maybe a few other SMS ships near by or maybe a small Zent recon element. SMS is a big company after they have to have more ships, but nothing more than a little extra fuel to the fire of the battle already raging.

But I think Ozma is going to square of with Grace, Alto with Brera. Perry is going to mutiny and square Battle25 off with Battle21. Quarter is gonna play sniper, kill the Dulfim and weaken Battle21 so Perry can finish the job. This is of course after Ozma shoots down Grace freeing Brera so he can free Ranka's mind and make piece with the bugs so frontier can survive.
