  1. Cool news. Did you win that last week, i tried getting MMHH and volume 2 but lost.

Hey Rogue (or is it Friday?)

Yep, that was probably me then ! The seller also had some 1/144 Takatoku destroids too, but I got out bid on those.

I will hopefully get the rest of the pin up art scanned tonight, scanning is such a pain i've been putting it off.

  2. Macross World scores again !

Thanks to the help in this thread , what was posted in the Tomahawk Pin up thread, and a bit of luck I was able to pick up the Macross Model Hobby Handbook off ebay.

Its a great book, and has an additional 9 pieces of pin up art that I didnt have.

I think they are different to the Megaro Combat ones, but i have more than enough to be getting on with now.

The book has a lot of crazy conversions is as well, these days people seem more focused on accuracy, but i guess back then kits were cheap and in plentiful supply.

  3. Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated ! Good to know that the 2nd sheet are from Macross.

I've had a look at the starship modeller set, and they look do like excellent value, I will probably get some soon.

But (without wanting to sound too picky) the anime ones do look a bit modern, and I really prefer that 80's anime style.

Ive got the Megaro Zamac Harrier, which has some nice pin up art, the decals that come with are really tiny, but ive scanned the box art to use. Ive also found slightly larger scans of a few of the megarocombat ones. I'll post them up when I get a chance.

  4. Hi

I am after some genuine 80's anime pin up art to personalise various kits,

and was wondering if anyone has some better scans of the Megaro Combat decal sheet, that Imai produced for its Megaro Zamac range ?

This is the sheet, which you would have to be pretty lucky to find these days

Ive also found this pin up art scan on a Macross Frontier image dump, I was thinking of using.

Minmays in there of course, and its the same pose used in one of the bandai 1/55th sticker sheets, does anyone know where the rest are from ? are they Macross or something else ? any help welcome !

  5. Yeah I've seen that colour variations too, there are pics on the model page somewhere.

So if the arm number relates to the valk, what is number is on the VF1-J valk?

    Is it a 101 ?

  6. Well from my understanding. The GBP Valks (im taking reference in what was said in Robotech Macross Saga) that they where reserved for special missions. Well thats what Lisa told Rick when he "Borrowed" it.

So im guessing that those Valks with the armor are numbered accordingly to how many GBP are reserved for Spec Ops. And so i guess that the one Rick took, was a VF-1J equiped with the first GBP.

So if you look at it, Rick´s VF-1J wasnt numbered 001 in the tv series (Roy had the 001) his number if you look up Perfect Memory was 101. Yet his GBP armour has the Nr. 1 on it.

    Just my two cents.

    -Jin

    I think Jin's right.

    I've seen art of VF1S as both a 3 and a 4, cannon fodders as 5 and 7 and Max as a 7.

It makes sense that the code relates just to the armour and not the valk it's on.

I think I'm going to go with a 3 on the chest and 303 on the arms.

  7. This is why I hired a van and went and retireved all my stashed goodies from my brothers attic as soon as I got my own house.

I always made it clear to my family that no-one was to give away my stuff just to make sure this kind of thing never happended to me!

  8. I'm not 100% sure (have to check M. Perfect) but number 1 is associated with Hikaru's VF-1J. Imai 1/100 models have the following numbering:

    VF-1J Hikaru: 1

    VF-1A Max: 7

    VF-1S: 4

    Imai GPB model

Does anyone know if the 101 on the arms and legs relates directly to the 1 on the chest ?

As GBP comes with 1,2,3 and 4 for the chest but then 101, 111, 202, 303 for the arms and legs.

So if you were to use a 4 on the chest for a VF-1S what would the arms and leg codes be ?

  9. Would the chest piece of the GBP fit a VF-1D if a modified "D" heat shield was used or it would not be able to fit the chest plate for its difference in design.

Also in the Playstation DYRL game there was this mission where Skull Squad lauch into an enemy ship in armors GBP I think that the red parts of the GBP were painted acording to the Valk,  Roy's was yellow, Max's blue, Kakizaki... was it green?

any way I would like to know if any one knew what were the numbers of the GBPs they used?

Well got to the level with the GBP's and the only number you see is a 7 on a cannon fodder.

So unless anyone's got an artbook for the game then your guess is as good as mine.

You're right about the red sections being painted blue and yellow for Max and Roy BTW.

On a different note I don't know why so many people are being negative about the armour, after all Yamato could have just released it with the VF1J and not separetly, and then they wouldn't of had to go to the effort of making it compatible with the older valks.

  10. Would the chest piece of the GBP fit a VF-1D if a modified "D" heat shield was used or it would not be able to fit the chest plate for its difference in design.

Just started playing the game through to find out,

Hopeet when I get to that level the numbers aren't too small to read .

  11. Thanks guys finally got it too work !

Now to resist attempting to put the armoured valk parts on it, I know that wont work, but with the help of some blu-tack who knows.

The search option would have been the smart thing to do, but after battling with a valk for the best part of an hour, I wasn't exactly thinking straight

  12. Ive finally got around to trying to transform my Elint Seeker and just cannot get the chest plate to slide down into place.

I've been trying for about 45 mins with no luck, it just doesn't go down far enough for the head to tilt forward.

Super_Quincy says he has the same problem with his.

Is there a trick to this ?

Also with the armour off does the tail fin fold down flat ??

any help at all is appreciated :D

  13. I got mine the other day and its too tall to stand on my Valk shelf !

Just a quick question, is it supposed to come with a sticker sheet / instruction book ??

Mine didnt, i know its less complex than a valk but this seemed a little strange

  14. I've had my Max VF1a on display put of its package for over a year now and havent notived any yellowing, but it's not in any direct sunlight and I make sure it's not too close to any lamps or overhead lights.

The thing ive noticed about yellowing before though is that it continues to get worse after things are removed form the light. Ive put away things with no noticable yellowing, got them out a year or so later and they are as yellow as hell.

I guess once the damage is done there is no stopping the process.

  15. I guess I don't have that much time to make up my mind either !

I sold my Vintage Yak Face to get the cash for Elint Seeker and its definatley the more impressive toy :D

Partly what was putting me off preordering is that i'm likely to get whacked with import duty as HLJ mark it as merchandise and usually include the cost of the postage on the declaration - which means I get charged duty on the postage as well !

Maybe I should look around to preorder else where instead

  16. I normally use HLJ for things like this and was wondering if people think if there is a genuine need to pre-order ?

Is the Elint Seeker going to be available in limited numbers or will I be tripping over them on Ebay for the next few months?

Normally I wouldn't bother pre-ordering but as it seems all the trading figures went straight away. so what do you all reckon ?
