  1. I got a pretty awesome box from BBTS today, It had the set of 4 deluxe figures (Thundercracker, Scourge, Cup, Wheeljack) as well as the United re-issue of classics Megatron. Scourge is probably my favorite new mold out of the 4. There is almost no sign of a robot when he is in his jet/plane mode, and he pulls off some pretty neat tricks during transformation.

    Me too!

Scourge is really superb. His transformation seems like it might be simplistic, but there is some interesting folding going on and he looks great in BOTH modes.

Thundercracker's paint apps look really solid. He's probably the best of the 3 original seekers.

  2. What stores are you shopping at? I still haven't seen Wreck-gar, Scourge, G2 Prime, Perceptor, or Kup. I technically haven't found Jazz, Blurr, or Tracks locally. I found Jazz and Tracks at a Kohl's near my parents' house, and Blurr at their Target.

Well I said "should be", according to Hasbro they're a February release. ;)

My local stores are kind of a crap shoot. I found Wreck-Gar and Perceptor at Target two weeks ago. The Toys R Us across the street seems to be a little behind and has a mixture of the previous wave of figures. The local Wal Mart is even further behind and still has figures from before Christmas.

  3. damn scalpers. they usually get all the figures and then they go straight to places like ebay. the prices have to marked so high to cover their ebay and paypal fees that the figures probably don't even sell. why not just leave them on the shelves and let people who are actually going to open them or appreciate them buy them?

Yeah I feel the same way. That's partially to blame for why it takes me so long to find figs around here. I saw a couple of the basement-dwellers picking through the shelves one day at Target. <_<

  4. Well, in the end, its the kids they make these toys for. Case in point: I just showed my 7 year old son the Republic attack shuttle playset pics from Toyfair and he said "COOOOL!"

    What can you do? :)

Thing is... I bet you eleventy dollars that he would've said COOOLLL about a Republic Shuttle that was just a really nice accurate toy with no extra gimmickry. I think toy companies are trying too hard.

  5. Uck.. Ground station? I'm not a big fan of Hasbro's added features and we buy the toys anyway, but this one just seems to take it a bit far. I suppose they play test this stuff with kids and some study told them that toys with secondary play value must be more appealing or something. I think the ROTJ vintage shuttle is an amazing toy and it has no added features. Personally I just don't get it, but thats because I'm not 8, I guess :)

The toy industry is rife with this sort of marketing-droid thought process. As a Lego fan, I find it especially irritating because many sets are crapped up with action play gimmicky shooters or flip-change functions instead of actual Lego bricks.

Contrary to my gripe, however, (and trying to be semi-on-topic) the Star Wars Lego sets are generally better designed with more brick content than some of the other lines like Atlantis or Mars Mission, which often use a Technic frame with a few bricks tacked on.

It actually kind of makes me yearn for the days when the spring-loaded shooters were illegal and they focused more on the toys just being cool designs. :(

  6. Thanks Tober, very nice of you. I Live in Houston and occasionally one is able to get them from 3rd Planet. This is a store near Kirby Rd, which is near downtown houston. But they overprice the heck out of these things

Ohhh why coulndt it be Lancia StRAtos.. :

With the crappy distribution around here, I'm probably going to just bite the bullet and order this from BBTS. Yeah, they're marked up, but at least BBTS has good customer service. I once ordered Alternator Tracks from them and they sent me Ravage by mistake. I emailed them about it and they sent me Tracks and told me to just keep Ravage. :)

I wish Wheeljack looked more like a Stratos, too. Lately it seems that Hasbro has been making their own car designs so they don't have to pay for licensing from various auto companies.
