  1. Talk to Valkyrie. If not, I have an extra one I might sell ya for $70 shipped.

Thanx for the offer but I have to put it on the back burner for a little bit because of last nites spending splurge! I got the VF-0B, VF-0D, SV-51 Ivanov and a 1/48 F/A-18C...all Hasegawa goodness...so I've busted my monthly budget :D

    Cheers

  2. :D

    Some nice ideas!

But what I'd like to see are:

    1. Any of Hasegawa's Valks in 1/48 injection molded plastic at about the same price as their F/A-18 and F-14...positionable slats, flaps, alerons and rudders plus details!

    and more importantly

    2. A resin update set for the VF-1's cockpit, Hasegawa's is bare bare bare! A nice touch would be two different cockpit sets, one for the TV show the other for DYRL...add to this resin sets for opening the gun pod, radar, engines etc!

    Cheers

  3. I've thought about a whole gaumt of colour schemes and markings and I'll eventually do SEA, lizzard, Egyptian one, Heater (sp?) and Ferris schemes, but I wanted to start with all the navy Valks.

The reason I chose the F-14 is becuase to me the 80's VF-1s were based on the Turkey's swing wing design and twin tails, besides if you look at most naval F-4 squadrons the markings were transferred over the the F-14 when they converted...most at least...

Another thing I love about navy colours especially the modern ones is the wear that you'll see when looking at high tempo operational aircraft, all the leaks, stains and patches of new paint. You'll never see USAF aircraft get as dirty as that!

Fianlly, in the near future (i.e. when I have money to buy more Valks) I want to do a few other airforces such as the Luftwaffe, SAAF, Russian etc...

    A long, long road ahead...

  4. Hi All!

After a discussion on Aircraft Resource Center concerning which squadrons should be displayed upon my new arrivals I've come the following choices:

    * The VF-0B will be carrying VF-41's (Black Aces) markings, she was the sister unit to VF-84 (Jolly Rogers) which formed the basis for Skull Squads markings...I think :)

"Admittedly, VF-41 would make a nice choice. The Valkyrie has been closely associated with Skull Squadron, inspired by VF-84s markings. So, since VF-84 and 41 were partners on the Nimitz for several cruises in the early 80s, I can see their markings on a VF-0B easily. " - Jay Chladek ARC

*The VF-0D at the moment is a toss up between VF-143 (Pukin' Dogs), VF-111 (Sundowners) or The Black Knight (I've forgotten the VF designator)...

If any one else has a few suggestions I would greatly apprecitate it!

    Cheers

  5. Hi All!

Its been quite awhile since I've been here! Well here's my only completed Valk at this point, comming up after my Prowling Red Devil Mig-29 is a VF-19 (?) in VX-4 "Evaluators" (or are they "Vandy") markings....

  6. Hi All!

just my 2cents worth, I'm busy with the Academy kit right now...hopefully I'll get it finnished some time soon. Just a word of advice though, you have to get at least a replacement seat or IMHO get a replacement cockpit set (Neomega makes one).

Overall its a good kit and I've had fun building it...

    Cheers

  7. Hi All!!!

Reading through this thread reminds me of how I got started...I'll just buy one practise kit and then I'll build my Macross stuff...two years on and I only have one VF-1 custom done :D

    Cheers

  8. OR!

You could buy the 1/72 Hase Macross Zero Mig-29, send the decals to Mike Grant of Mike Grant decals and have them blown up to 1/48th scale. Buy the Academy Mig-29,warning you will need at least a replacement seat, I'm using a SOL K-36D seat. Then build to your heart's content! Well thats what I'm planning to do anyways :) Once I'm done with my Prowling Red Devil Mig-29A...

  9. What really caught my eye is the Hornet back there!  Also, is that an F-100's nose in the lower-left corner?

That hornet sure looks good! I wish I have the skills to paint like that. :(

:) The secret is spray paint...Machine Grey I think the colour was... ;) But I do have problems with the Hornet though it had some nasty seams created by my inexperience...But thanx for the positive comments!

  10. After seeing the "70's" paint style reference, I expected it to be all dayglo and stuff.  Rhinestones.

    Disco Valkyrie.

 "Macho, maco man I wanna be a macho man...'' que Hikaru in his spray on bright flight suit and red (?) cravat...
