  1. For as many times as I've watched Macross Plus, I am pretty sure I can identify the General Galaxy logo on Guld's flightsuit. Shinsei Industries, though, eludes me. Does anyone have decent pictures of either of these? I just got this on DVD for the first time, so I hope to be able to watch it with a bit more thoroughness than ever before.

Also, I know I've once seen a logo for Project Supernova. I may have it archived deep in my Macross picture collection, but I'm not too sure. Anyone have any shots of this as well? I'd surely appreciate it.

I ask this because I'm considering another run of UN Spacy static on-face decals like the ones I did a while back. I thought it might be fun to consider doing something a little more special, i.e. a New Edwards Test Flight Center base pass decal.

    There's a Project Supernova logo on the Hasegawa 1/72 Option Decal # 1 ( #65757 ) but I don't have a scanner or a digital camera. :( .Maybe somebody else can help.

  2. Millia in her flight suit!

We could get a whole doll line outta this-Millia from DYRL boxed-other outfits on Barbie-style cards=wedding gown,UN Spacy Flight Suit,UN Spacy Class A's, Pregnant Millia with baby Komillia,Macross 7 Mayor Millia,Jammingbirds Audition Millia,etc... :p

  3. Counterpart, not "identical twin".

    As in, F-14 vs F-15. F-16 vs F-18. YF-22 vs YF-23. And F-100 vs F-8.

The F-8 is often cited as being the first time a "compromised" carrier-based plane was superior to its land-based counterpart. The F-100 and F-8 were designed at the same time, to fill the same role, and to use the same engine. But the F-100 was expected to be better, since the F-8 would be hampered by the excess structural weight and equipment needed to operate from a carrier. But the F-8 turned out to be way better in every way. :)

A 1/32 scale F-8 would kick serious @$$!Have you read Barret Tillman's "MIG Master".Probably the best reference on the F-8 in US Navy and Marine Corps service.Anyway the F-8 is about 3rd on my list of all time favorite airplanes. That sleek ,mean shape. The marking options would be awesome as well-having served in a VERY colorful period of Carrier Aviation.

Supposedly, there was an international meeting between several Air Forces and when the USAF pilots asked Soviet pilots which American plane they most respected, the Air Force guys were offended when the Russians said, all of them "the F-8,of course" :p

  4. God I hate ERTL... Their Star Wars & Startrek kits were catatrophes, ever single one of them.

Why do they get EVERY studio contract in the US? B5, Star Wars, Star Trek, Airwolf! Many more I'm missing... and their kits were always crap!

Has the quality of their product at least kept pace with the rest of the industry? Or are they still putting out that thick, mishappen crap?

I agree-we need Dragon or Academy to do 1/32 or 1/24 scale styrene plastic kits of the MK II & MK VII Vipers. That would rock. :)

  5. HWR MK II it would be a welcome model.

I would buy it to replace the decals and parts from my 0D. I would be really happy if they rereleased the F-14, with the correct pilots this time, and Mig 29.

Has anyone looked to see if the standard 0 battroid hands and gun pod will work on the armored version?

Do like I did-since I wanted to bouid Roy & Shin's 0's with Ghost I bought 2.The kits include an extra pilot because of the parts-sprue breakdown. Then get a cheaper release of either Hasegawa or Fujimi F-14. :) Now all you need is to find a way to make those markings on your PC-& I bet several of the guys on the Forum can help.I'm just doing my Macross Zero Tomcat as "another" squadron from "another" carrier. :)

  6. I'm thinking about seeing this, but what really gets me is that I have yet to see a kick ass WWII fighter plane movie. I'm talkin' P-51's and bombers! Pearl Harbor wasn't a kick ass flick, and I thought Memphis Belle blew chunks! I guess I'll have to wait for that bomber flick that Peter Jackson is producing, but I doubt that will have P-51's!

Skullsixx-I've heard that George Lucas wants to make an epic-movie about the Tuskeegee Airmen, supposedly much better than the last one,and that should have p-51's in it.

  7. Guys thank you all very much for the kind words. The kit looks nice on the shelf but the pics almost made me not put it on MW :)

I'd love to see more guys have a crack at the old Bandai kits. I'll keep practicing on them before I move onto the Hase stuff in the closet.

Berttt thanks for your post. I've seen your 1/72 work so your praise means a great deal, cheers.

Once I finish off the Nissan Silvia I'm working on, I'm planning to have a go at the Imai 1/100 VF-1D and CF fighter kits.

    Mark

PS Any guesses at a good paint colour for the CF? I have H346 (Rough Sand) and it looks close, but wondering if any other paints were better suited?

Great work Cowie! It is great not only seeing that older Bandai kit,but seeing it finished as well...awesome.I've also wondered at a Cannon Fodder color that wpould be close to how they look on the Animeigo DVD's.Has anyone out there made a GERWALK out of Hasegawa parts?

  8. The only up-close pic I've ever seen of the track itself. (Every other pic is always the shuttle)

Thanks,David! That picture will be a great help with the track. It's easy to find JBD's and, like you said, the shuttle, but thats the best picture I've ever seen of the track. :)

  9. I always thought WEG's D6 would do great with Macross. Palladium's system is sucker than suck, though.

I have the MII RPG (after seeing the OVA based on my memories of Robotech, I got the RPG and from there got into Macross in general).

WEG's system would be killer for Macross.Do any of you guys read David Weber's Honor Harrington novels?Ken Burnside at Ad Astra Games(which pubs the Honor wargame Saganami Island Tactical Simulator)told me that when things are farther along they will use that WEG system for the Honor RPG.

  10. Nintendo has been surprisingly quiet on what old games will be available, and how. Will they sell all the old Mario games one by one? Or as a big multi-pack? Or will they restrict them to keep sales of the GBA versions up?

Personally, I would LOVE to just go into a store and buy a Wii disc with a bunch of old NES/SNES games on it. Better than downloading IMHO. Instant gratification, and no messy "linking console serials with right to play downloaded games" like the 360. If you own the disc, you own the game.

And I need Bonk's Adventure too, one of the few "mascot" games I never really played. I have like 20 minutes on it on a Turbo Duo.

I agree with David about a retail compilation disc-easier and more fun-I like owning games with manuals & cases.

Definetly getting a Wii,don't know quite when-I'm on Art & Model Show Staff for Nan Desu Kan '06 in Denver in October and will still be recovering from dealers room in November :p .

  11. On controllers, somebody mentioned the huge controller that originally came with the X-BOX,around here they were called the "Duke".I have a magazine from a couple years back where Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick said the "Dukes" were too large and made HIS hands hurt!

On the PS3 issue$600 is two months spending money for me-that price is gonna have to come way down.Actually I'm more interested in the Nintendo Wii.

  12. Which means of course, there's a new article today:

    http://aimpoints.hq.af.mil/display.cfm?id=13907

First flight's coming soon. And feel free to point and laugh at any ridiculous comments/comparisons in the story.

Is it true-have you guys heard-that even the Air Force doesn't want this abortion with wings, but HAS to take it to get the F-22s they do want?

Also,my brother heard that the USAF is keeping the F-35's source code classified-and in that case the Brits will cancel 'cuz they don't want a plane that the US could just shut down on them!

  13. makes me wonder what a sidestory series placed in the TOS era would look like.

There aren't that many series placed around the TOS time- just a lot of stuff happing around the TNG time.

I agree-a sidestory in the TOS era would be cool. It's a big galaxy-with 11 more Constitution Class Starships "To Boldly Go".

Just no frakin' time-travel,time war,or holodeck accident stories,PLEASE!There has gotta be more stories then those available.

  14. oh how you fell into my trap so that I can pimp my drawing!!!

    Millias%20back.jpg

helmets are easy... you just recast the head off a Yamato pilot. ^_^

Sign me up for a 1/6 based on your cool artwork, man! How much for the 1/48 scale characters?

  15. Being as my grandfather worked on B-17s during WWII, I've always been more partial to prop planes in terms of design like the afore mentioned P-47 and P-51. The B-17 will always be my favorite overall. As a kid, I didn't really find jets all that cool, looks wise or other. I thought most of them looked the same. I still get a smirk out of this one pic I have of a B-24 with a sign in its nose turret that said "Jet's are for kids".

Still, it's said to hear a plane with such an illustrious career. I'll admit that it's far better looking than some of the new fighters. Maybe it's the Macross influence.

I do have an F-14 model in the wings waiting to be built. I was even thinking of customizing it to Macross at least decals wise.

When I was a kid,I used to feel sad I was born too late to be a Marine Corps Corsair ace,so I know what you mean about classic warbirds. :)

I'm building a Hasegawa 1/72 F-14D with Macross markings.I'm inspired by the Tomcats in Mac 0 Ep.1,But I'm doing a different squadron. There are enough extra markings in the Valkrie kits(especially if you have 25+ :p )to make a UN SPACY Tomcat.I want to take advantage of the kit's design to show it on a catapult and I'm looking at ways to make just enough of the cat track to display the kit.

  16. Kensei, isn't that really called 'the Itano Circus'?

Anyhow, Sumdumgai, don't forget the sports otaku that are prevalent in North America. I swear, anywhere you turn, you come across them, their bad fashion sense, and geekiness to talk only about sports. Of course, sports otaku are not really recognized as otaku... the last time I checked, that is.

I always thought that was funny paint your bare torso in sports team colors in -10 degree weather=cool-make costume of a sci-fi,anime,etc. character you like=totally lame-wear it at a convention that local TV news visits=absolute failure as a person.
