  1. If you're going to include the cost of the PC that I already have that already meets the requirements, then you might as well count the cost of the PS4 in the requirements for the PSVR.

In any case, I'm not bringing up the additional costs for PSVR to start an argument over PSVR vs Oculus vs Vive or whatever. Let other people rate the experiences of each, present the pros and cons, and let the consumers decide what's right for them. I'm only bringing it up because I think Sony's being a bit quiet about the additional requirements.

As for the VR experience, I don't think it's a gimmick like 3D. I feel pretty comfortable saying that it's the direction gaming is definitely heading in, but the question you have to ask before you buy into any VR is "are we there yet?" I kind of don't think so. That's why, even though my PC is VR-ready, I'm holding off a year or two. Let them work out the kinks, and (on the PC at least) figure out which VR solution gets more widely adopted or has that first killer app.

I see what you mean about Sony being quiet about that.

As for PC setup, I really think it's the way to go too! it'll be better and cheaper than setting up a 3 monitors gaming system. Just driving in a racing game where you turn your head to see the other cars instead of pushing a d-pad button or better yet, flying in a Valkyrie and seeing all of your surrounding (can't wait for EVE: Valkyrie!!).

  2. you know what scares me from dropping 400+. is the fear of getting dizzy.

the first time i really got motion sickness from a game was playing portal up close on my laptop and tele-porting through a loop that spun and repeated several times. messed me up for 12 hours and i was careful after to keep away from my screen when playing those type of games.

VR is just so up in your face.. i just think dizzy complaints that are going to happen.

yea...about that dizzy thing, that's definitely an issue. Sony needs to set up demo stations at retail stores so people can see if that causes issues before that 400+ investment.

  3. I'm hearing that those prices don't include a required camera.

You are correct, the price doesn't include the camera which is an additional $60. also some games will require the Move controller which is additional cost.

But I think it's still cheaper than the other VR headset requirements, which is a PC in the $1,000 range (which is NVIDIA GTX 970/AMD 290 equiv or greater

Intel i5-4590 equiv or greater 8GB+ DDR3 RAM HDMI 1.3 video output 2 USB 3.0 ports)

i think this thing is a short fad gimmick like 3d, i'm going to wait though before passing too much judgement

I agree, it's going to be a niche audience, but the experience is awesome!

  4. Just curious, any one thinking about a VR headset (Oculus, or some of the other stuff)? The Oculus' recommended specs were posted and I was thinking to myself that maybe it was time to look at one.

I recommend waiting, currently there are tons of games and apps in development, but no Killer app is out right now. VR is awesome and it’s something you have to “experience”, it’s difficult of describing it. Sure you can describe a rollercoaster ride, but riding it is a whole different thing.

There’s a Mech Demo for the Oculus and it definitely shows the potential of this platform. No more need of buying 3 monitors to setup. You can see all around you including behind. That’s why I can’t wait for Valkyrie’s release.

Unless you want to become one of the early adopters/pioneers, I would wait. Currently the Playstation 4 VR has the best line up in terms of game releases.

One of the coolest app currently is the Oculus Cinema. If feels like you're in your own private movie theater.

  5. Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question to all the guys with the super large collections, what do you guys do with the empty boxes? Do you guys store them or throw them away? If you guys store them, how do you manage the space? They take up so much space! (and I would rather use that space to display my other toys. I know you can collapse the boxes, but what do you do with the inserts? Can you guys give me a few pointers?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. I must admit I've disliked what they've done.

Not only did both Inaho and the princess survive but now he also has the power of Aldnoah? Agh...it just irks me that they didn't have the guts to really kill at least one of them off. It would have made for a more interesting story in the second season.

I originally felt the same way too, but we're talking about Gen Urobuchi....I think he will have some good stuff in store for us :-)

it does feel like a reset, but this time Nao is a bad@$$ with his new bionic eye...it relates to his personality even more now! :-) I do really like how that lined up.

  7. New game announce with cool trailer "Overwatch"

Seriously, why doesn't Blizzard go into films?

Wouldnt you think this is from Pixar?

I would totally watch this movie too!

The gameplay trailer is pretty good too

oh yea, they also announce a new Starcraft title too
