  1. I´ll happily concede that the creators of the show made Alto hard to read. They handled his build-up more subtle than with Sheryl, but IMO it definitely was there.

Well, there is an antidote for it, if it is in the early stages... Sheryls infection was just too advanced to be treated that way. And I still don´t completely buy the V-Type = AIDS analogy. It was never outright stated that it is transmitted by sexual contact. Let´s just agree to disagree here.

    Ok man!! ^_^

  2. Well, actually I think Alto advanced tons more than Ranka. At the end, Ranka had changed in exactly one aspect: She gained some self-confidence. She *still* has her crush on Alto, she *still* depended on being saved by Alto yet once again. Getting sudden magic hax out of nowhere doesn´t count as character development.

Alto, OTOH, has advanced from the angry, self-doubting young man he was, into a self-confident, mellowed out fellow. He conciliated himself with his actors past ( and his father apparently with his choice to become a pilot ), advanced into being a squadron leader, he accepted Frontier as his home and ( attention, shipping goggles on ) decided to go with one of the girls. Or at least that last should have happened, but SK trolled us hard at the end. I still think that made Michaels death all kinds of pointless...

I´ll refrain from commenting on the stuff from the other posters, seeing how the last argument turned out.

C'mon guys.........there is nothing wrong with an unresolved triangular love....we just need to hammer SK for being so indecisive, that's all!!!

And let's not speculate what is NOT shown regarding Alto and Sheryl, it's just a gimmick by SK and co. to tease our imagination. Whether they did OR not, is really really open to debate. However, I tend to believe that it is impossible since she is infected. B))

  3. Actually no. Quarter's cannon grazed the macross cannon and they let go of the cannon. Frontier's gunship more or less took a direct hit but was damaged rather than completely destroyed. After landing on Vajra homeplanet (which i would like to now call Planet Frontier for ease) their cannons are still intact and has abit of damaged look to it.

Unless of course its a blooper.

Vajra homeplanet = PC home as well?

  4. So unless you somehow think they stayed up all night playing pinochle, then it's pretty clear that the two of them slept together.

IMHO, I don't think that is possible given her condition. Luca already said it is transmitted via bodily fluids, remember? So we can rule that out.

As I said, it is a deliberate ploy by SK to ensure that a "fair" and "just" ending is given to both Asian (Ranka's heritage) and Western (Sheryl's heritage) audience that the triangular love is unresolved. I think it is likely that the movie will not resolve it either, for business reasons of course.

  5. Omae ga... omae-tachi ga...

Omae is a singular you. Omae-tachi is a plural you.

    FV

Makes you wonder why Alto switched to plural later on right?? Seems to tie down to why Ranka tells her I won't love to you in song or in love.

Although the triangle love is open to various interpretations, I think the script writers leave enough room for us to know that it was her and not Ranka. C'mon, marketing strategy...this is capitalism!

Also, Sheryl seems to know Alto more when he said that idiot flew to the sky.

  6. The subs are out, this question is answered. Heck, it was answered before the subs came out. The Protoculture revered, and perhaps even worshiped the Vajra. They copied much of what they saw of the Vajra.

So, the "superqueen" is INDEED a Vajra queen and NOT a PC inspired Vajra creation, right? Whereas in M0, the Birdman is really a Vajra inspired PC creation.

And shooting the head of the superqueen ensures her survival but separates Grace from commanding her? I wonder if the superqueen is "alive" in the first place?

The finale seems to bring out more questions regarding PC, Vajra and their related creations.

  7. There's that.

As I've said in another thread while the Mayan origin story is an analogy of our evolution influenced by the Protoculture.

It does not mean it is the same for the Protoculture. Their animism beliefs involving fold capable species. (The Anima Spiritia?)

The Vajra are their Birdman while Vahl Ena or Space Whales are the Fishman.

While the AHPOS bears a resemblance to the Vajra queen, Zentran warships' organic design aesthetic is reminicent of Space Whales.

On Zola the ancient Ancestor writings on Whale bones in the Whale cemetary indicate the Zolans ancestors revered the Great White Whale as a god who cannot die. Existing for millions of years.

Those ancestral writings and illustration could very well be Protoculture itself recording the Vahl Ena migration.

Also note that the three eyed Zolan snake which is always around a Zolan's neck bears a resemblance to the Vajra larva.

Zolan snakes could be legacy of the Protoculture to the Zolans. Since Zolan snakes are telepathic and inteligent enough to read ancient writing.

Sounds like an interesting hypothesis. Is it canon?
