It's more like I just want to get ahead of anyone who would "um akschually" me on Reddit or wherever else I'll be posting this draft blog thing so I needed to dive deeper enough that I actually learn the truth. Admittedly it's too much effort for "just a reddit post" but this time I wanna get my take right on the first try.

Hello! This is my first time in the forum and I couldn't find the "new users intro" thread so consider this my entrance. I was sent here by Ollie Barder of Forbes (u/Cacophanus on Reddit) after seeing that I needed help in writing a blog for r/anime and r/CharacterRant. This is a draft of that rant. My biggest questions revolve around Macross' sales and merchandising performance relative to Gundam, especially before the turn of the millennium. Specifically I want to learn more about what Ollie meant in answer 5 and 6. I realize that it may be hard to find concrete figures, but I'm after the overall difference in scale and reception of the two franchises to help me understand why things turned out the way they did today.
