I don’t get it. Isn’t this what happens with most collectibles that have a limited run?

No. Normal retailers sell retail products close to MSRP, especially during launch period. They don't scalp at launch or even during preorder period, and start antique pricing while it's still available at other retailers and second hand stores, just because their own stock is low but not clearing out. On the contrary, most other retailers would lower prices or put on sales to clear inventory instead.

  2. I've said in some other thread before. Nin-nin are scalpers. Their prices are automated to go up exponentially as stock goes down. And then continues to go up over time at the last unit or two. It's a promised future extortion if you don't buy now. Basically they are coersion scalpers, so I avoid using them if they aren't the last choice left, or significantly lower priced during PO, and I have to not have anything I want to combine for shipment, because their policies for that are not really to your convenience either.

I was also thinking that. And like you, was actually disappointed that they skipped those two even though they had the big fights in that second episode. And I was even more disappointed to see that they’re making both of those ugly legged gelgoogs instead of either of the Gundam 01 or Guncannon into kits

The gelgoogs are a literal headscratcher and strange product planning. They look pretty lame, but the red one by itself at least could've been understandable for its place in the story. The black (dark navy?) one getting a kit is kind of nonsense. It's just a palette swap that belongs in p-bandai, and even then, it would have been too insignificant to get a kit.

Meanwhile the 01 is also primarily a palette swap, just with a new face and a couple more weapons, yet somehow has an absolutely different presence. Its nearly just as easy to make as spamming those gelgoogs, and would have been their cash cow based on the general reception i'm hearing

I almost like the standard Guncannon and the Gundam 01

Literally me. Those are the only two designs that almost look good to me, and had the most impactful action sequences at that. They're what I look forward to seeing in model kit form most, just to make a final decision on whether I like their designs or not lol. At the same time, it seems like those are exactly the two units getting skipped for kits... Somehow even the Light Guncannon that only showed up to get tossed by an explosion for 2 frames is getting a kit before them... Maybe they are saving those two for P-Bandai 2 years after the show ends 🤡

  5. Bandai being nonsensically wasteful seems fairly common.

I've just encountered it yesterday, while fitting crotch armor on the Ozma, trying to understand why there are two armored crotches. Following that, wondered why the battroid stand adapter that caused the former to even need to exist, when the non armor battroid adapter already works with the armor.

I was also rememinded a few days ago, that bandai pumps out a whole dedicated mini runner for what is akin to a single zaku's eye lense on their 30MM line. It could have just been a small area of that color, tacked onto a larger runner. For what they wasted, they could have put 20 duplicates chained into a single stick, to split the risk of damage and loss, for not having all the protection and identification that comes with a full runner, and still saved materials while handing out spares.

The knee gap is a consequence of needing to compress the legs for battroid, and stretch them out for fighter.  Otherwise, you get the long skinny legs on the DX YF-19. Since the Fire Valk generally gets a lot more time and attention to battroid mode, the fighter just gets the short end of the stick to make the legs look appropriately chonky.

The YF-19 got the opposite treatment, and while it leaves the battroid looking more lanky than it should, I'm not even slightly interested in them redoing it.  All that will accomplish is giving us another giant knee gap like the Arcadia version has.  We've got the Arcadia for a good animation battroid, and I'm fine letting Bandai keep its more fighter-focused take.  (Though I would love to see them make that stupid gray thigh hinge match )

We'll see how he price works out though.  Inflation (and other potential increases) aside, the exhange rate has still kept things fairly consistent on the import end for the US.

I'm really not sure that neck cover is going to be an improvement though.  They're trying to hide it with camera angles, but it looks like he's wearing a neck brace.

I suspected it was for the fighter engine length reason. But for the amount of morphing proportions, It seemed to trivial a reason to make a weird fix for... and they could have did an extension with some hidden panel magic like they did with the YF. I guess it was easier to just copy precedence of every toy having a black hold there at this point lol

I have a feeling the neck cover can be gotten away with on the 19S, with the bundle of head lasers as distraction, and their turret base matching and breaking up part of the cliff.

It seems like the misalligned fuselage issue is still kind of there. The piece that holds the canards, with the vent slits. On my YF, its totally buckled up over the piece behind it. I could press it in, but then the belly panel under the cockpit would then shoot out. Through careful squeezing balancing of tensions, it can be hidden for some time until anything gets bumped, I'm seeing that same two panels slightly stepped up here as well, although to a much smaller degree.

  7. I don't understand the knee gap. It's not even there in battroid or gerwalk, and as far as I can see, neither is it in various fighter mode art. It's literally only there in toy depictions, and only in fighter mode, through an intentional extention showing the gerwalk joint that is collapsed and hidden in other modes, and bandai is cranking it up to 11 here.

Anyway, seems like the landing gear hubs are painted white.

Seems like mega inflation for a barebones valk to cost more than the 25 Tornado...

  8. After looking at the images closely, I have concluded that only the top of the chest is the same mold. And maybe the forearms. I'm sure its safe to assume the sliding thruster spine is probably the same too, but that seems to be as far as common parts go, if you don't count the metal bits.

i posted the same about the mouth and came over here and saw you posted it too.

It seems my misplaced reply and your reply to it got moved here.

I feel like I've seen an AMV recently where there was footage of the yapping mouth used as Basara's megaphone.

  10. They went ham with the mouth lol. And the knee gap is real. It doesn't quite seem like the shoulder spots are real peg holes for the sound booster like the HMR.

I would like this for the way it bridges the gap between the YF and VF's differences, and the full stature it makes with the sound booster. But here I am, scraping up pennies to decide if I want to thow it at the 27 PO... lol

Think I'll wait this out and see if a Blazer comes around.

Edit: I should probably have posted to the other thread

  11. While reading, I jumped the gun and thought you discovered the paladin pack for the Prophecy. Turns out you meant color coded super and amored packs lol. Aside from the lance, I think it was mostly just made of the two former packs mixed and matched.

Good job with Sheryl, I'm sure she couldn't have been made in that pose without you having first gone through the unspeakable horrors in that folder lol.

  12. Not planning to get this, probably... but more pretty pics of this to flood the interwebs is great news for the eyes and wallet.

  13. Seems like the missile pod thing that T-Rex did with the shoulder intake bits on the 19 Advance is canon, and the thing that Bandai did on the DX isn't lol

Speaking of which, what happened to the custom mod parts to add the same features and more on the DX? Last I checked, nothing seemed to come of it even though parts were manufactured???

The Supers were originally part of the Klan 25G kit IIRC. And while I'd love a RVF, I understand why no one ever does one besides Hasegawa. Especially in this line. How would they integrate the radome with the girl? Maybe it's just a hat? Maybe it attaches to her back?

Sunhat, parasol? IDK, but they could do w/e, or even just toss it out when the girl is onboard lol

  15. KInda odd only Ozma gets super pack and they didn't announce Luca while they were at it lol.

I know there are a couple more images, one of which includes sound boosters for Alto too.

I've stopped trying to make sense of Delta as a whole a long time ago, but I don't remember any discussion that painted Messer as a fan favorite character.  He was mostly just a jerk that didn't get much development or any redeeming qualities until he was already killed off.

Well, considering the western mecha audience hates the series, our echo chamber doesn't really count as fans, so our opinion doesn't matter lmao.

Meanwhile, the main ship of the show is arguably KanameXMesser. Vtubers love their macross music too, so Axia and Giraffe Blues covers are always accompanied with joke weeping for Messer. He's basically not disliked outside of here, and maybe MAL reveiws.

The retcon did away with most of him having a stick up his bum anyway. They turned him into the tragedy train instead, so its fair to say, he ultimately became the single memorable event in the TV series and retcon movie.

Most importantly, yall took my sentence apart and went off on it without all of the words lol. I called him the fan fav ace pilot, not fan fav character, or idol.  Afterall, he is kind of undeniably the best pilot in the show, since everyone else either does nothing, or uses copious amounts of space idol magic, hile he fought evenly and basically only lost to his own handicap. At least until Max shows up and breaks the power scaling with his cameo character hacks.

I picked up 2 to go with its 2 brothers in blue.  [I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of the animation so I have no idea who pilots these valks or how many additional colors/repaints I should expect.]

The blue one is piloted by Keith, the main "antagonist" combatant for most of the show. Does nothing memorable other than kill a fan fav ace pilot. Only shows up to cause mayhem on behalf of his bromance partner that is controlling his brother and the whole country.

The red one is piloted by Bogue (aka Booger, of course he gets the bloody scheme...). He was the insignificant second in command that angsts like a preschooler. Only got promoted to fly this unit in the post TV series movie, since Keith offed himself to stop the true big bad, his bromance partner, in the TV finale.

Then there's the evil "misguided" bromance partner himself, the true big bad, Roid. Great name... He remote controls his unit, only appearing in the final fight, in white and gold. AKA the pope unit. They might have teased this unit at a hobby show, I'm not sure anymore, but if they did, it's long since become another classic Bandai vaporware.

All of the above are the commander Sv-262Hs models with the dog toothed delta wings and have what I call the anubis head.

The rest are the grunt units, Sv-262Ba, with the squid head and backward swept wings.

The the bulk of them are turquoise. The main entourage of 4 or 5 with faces and names that nobody remembers, originally including Booger, had these, They had some minor custom colored stripes. I don't think anyone remembers who was which color, or was able to tell while in action scenes.

Then there's the the pope's fodder units. They were remote hijacked grunt units, controlled by Roid like his pope unit, but nano paint changed from the standard turquoise into a white, silver, and lesser gold scheme. I'd say they look kind of like crusaders. I don't think anyone actually remembers these existing, so its never going to be merchandized.

Finally, there's the unit that Mirage, the shafted secondary heroine, stole in the recap/retcon movie. She changed it into her custom magenta and white scheme. Bandai having not made a DX of this heroine valk after so long, IMO is basically an announcement that they refuse to make molds for the Ba model

We keep hoping there is a Ba, but I don't think most people realistically have expectations of it happening anymore lol.

Anyone know what Satelight are up to right now? Maybe they're working on an OVA while Sunrise do the show, which would allow them to explore other music genres as has been the case in the past.

Satelight has been doing the latest Aquarion, and Sentai Red Isekai animes. The latter even just had an OG Aquarion cameo, and Kawamori also designed a separate villian mech for the same ep too. Don't think they could have had time to be cooking anything else.

Like enough to make your hands shake?

I don't have this, but I thought I was a wimp for reaching the point of shaking when trying to play with these kinds of toys. I guess it's actually normal. 😁

I don’t know why, but this toothy grinned fighter-esque mode should be a thing. 😆image.jpeg.d12647b5522f5964248a37fd040d0ac1.jpeg

We all knew the Draken III was based on the J-35 Draken. But turns out, it also takes the form of its predecessor, the J-32 Lancen

  20. Hory shet, them polygons!

Thanks for confirming nobody knows how to cheat the shoulder to intake socket connection, or morph/origami the shoulder armor into that very panel it clips through without completely ignoring the original design. AFAIK, all transforming toys have elected to butcher the shape of or completely ignore the existence of that panel lol 😁

Its such a shame that it's not even a matter of fudging proportions here. Kawamori literally gave up and never gave the mechanism or transformation logic any thought for this one spot, for whatever reason.

The best I can think of to solve this is for there to be a track pegged into the delimiter socket, hidden under the triangle, and under the problematic panel, all the way to the shoulder. The shoulder would still need to borrow a 180 twist from the DX to face the inward. Then triangle would have to be jointed to the panel (as seen in line art) and take it along to fold somewhere, probably making things tight for the ventral thrusters in gerwalk. The end result is a shoulder ball that slides forward on a newly invented track, rather than directly plugged in the socket, which probably looks awful without overengineering to hide it all. The most heinous I can come up with is to replace the track with a jointed snake, that coils up like a roll of bike chain, and then an absurdly large shoulder armor caps over it to hide it all lol.

Anyway, thanks for the great visual aid for my brain worms.

  21. Now you have 22 models? Your powers are getting out of hand.

Actually kind of curios how this depiction transforms the bicep/shoulder area in relation to the intakes and the piece with the red triangle that covers the shoulder socket. Every depiction of it has cheated with different methods of magic and morphing in some way, if not copious amounts of outright completely changing the design and hoping nobody notices, like the DX.

In my head, I've solved the nose cone proportions, leg proportions and storage accomodating the correct back pack main engine sizes, with some combindation of transformation tricks that already exist. But shoulder transformation is actually the biggest jank that requires some very abitrary mechanical additions to work as vaguely depicted, especially when delimiter mode dictates there be a socket under the triangle piece.

The bummer of the Hi-Metal R is that they had the foresight of knowing they would do the sound booster and knowing how Yamato came up short on it and instead decided to cheap it out and reuse their old sound booster (so it appears) with different clips. If they do a DX VF-19 like they teased, I sure hope they put more thought into how the two will connect but after the DX YF-21, I have my doubts.

They will sell the Valk with connectors to your liking, and pretend they will release a sound booster designed to fit on it one day. That day may or may not come, like the 21's fold booster, and all the AXs' super packs, or Chuck's anything.

i need some more ghosts for an extra Messer movie edition i brought a while back. I hope there's a release with a ghost at somepoint.

    You mean the Lil Drakens?

I wish they made the color schemes match the host fighter, especially since they explained the Draken could change color schemes on the spot, and that it was a matter of IFF. I don't get why the drones wouldn't need the IFF signal change as well. It's a brain dead way to move more merchandize of the same mold as well.

Maybe they could do a little retcon again someday lol.
