I saw this one on Mandarake a few days ago, it's a 1/3000 ARMD-01 kit. (If someone already posted this, my apologies in advance.)

I've been wondering for days what this is. Is it meant to go with any of the pre-assembled 1/3000 SDF-1s?

Took sometime to dig through the Arcadia VF-1J M&M thread, but here is the link to the improvements:

The improvements were very minor - basically tolerance adjustments & new screw covers, but it just highlights that even for minor stuff like this, Mr. K took the trouble to communicate it out.

Very cool thanks! Enough diversion from the VF-19!

I got one from Mandarake a couple of days ago but I was lucky. It is weird because it is marked as PO and will be shipped until 12/9.

So you're the lucky bugger who got that! I saw it a few hours too late. Haha. Did you get the VF-4A and VE-1 too? Been trying to get those as well.

They are part of Mandarake's Grand Chaos outlet 3rd anniversary sale, hence the pre-order.

Doh, someone got the last VF-31S while I was adding it to my cart.

Considering that Kawamori-san still does his designs by hand, my thinking is that it likely would have turned out the same way. CAD existed in the mid-90s when he did the M+ designs, but he's a traditional artist who seems to prefer drawing by hand. Given that a number of his designs have been translated into toys, I don't know if he draws with that in mind, but as you said, even with Frontier and likely Delta, there's still some animation magic involved, and likely always will be.

In that regard, I give props to Yamato/Arcadia and Bandai for translating those drawings into fully functional transforming toys. Having translated Kawamori-san's Variable Glaug, VF-4, and VB-6 Konig Monster into fully transformable LEGO models, I understand the challenges involved.

I've seen your stuff on Reddit. Props to you! They're great! The Variable Glaug in particular is brilliant.

FYI, HLJ actually has one more in stock as well, might be a better deal depending on the shipping and currency conversion.

I had seen that previously, but moehime has much better pricing for me.

Their PF is only a little more than I paid for my original non-PF version. 😰

Moehime has the same one available for 35,000 yen plus shipping, it is from the previou batch. I got one, it came packed very well, original shipping box, white paper around the blackbox. I have ordered a lot from them with no problems.

How was your experience with their PF version? Came across some negative reviews for them but the PF is very attractive despite me having the regular version.

I'd be a bit concerned as these KO variants have yet to be see for sale anywhere that I know of.  I would totally pick up the Brownie.

Max and Milia variants were released a while back, but the others have never shown up.

Seems like the only ones manufactured these days are Roy or Hikaru before this Jetfire one came about.

M & M are not currently in production, but there's a possibility of future runs based on a Chinese vendor.

  9. Just trying to give context for those interested in grey market VF-1s and not trying to add insult to injury for anyone.

The typical price I've seen on Taobao, the biggest Chinese online marketplace, is usually between 450-480 RMB before overseas shipping which works out to 60+ USD. For a full set with SSP, it's a little below 100 USD. It used to be slightly lower but it's gone up in the past year or so.

If you come across prices substantially lower than that, be mindful of the above!

If anyone is interested at those prices + shipping to wherever you are, I can check what the total costs will be if you're willing to share an approximate address. Not trying to profit here, just providing some information if anyone is interested in a KO.

PS: I can promise I'm not a Chinese scammer, probably can't prove it though. Here's a Taobao listing to help verify some of my claims - https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.16.3026258dNEwCwK&id=717365695385&ns=1&abbucket=4#detail and the full store - https://macross.taobao.com/shop/view_shop.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.54.3026258dNEwCwK&appUid=RAzN8HWYrPdchqUYeTg3c3cacYpt6FgekrajKu2vKaSS8Yq8TGD if you like to look around.

I'm just offering to help navigate is all.

You are right definitely right but it's even harder to let go one by one instead of everything together. It's like a stab in the heart every time i prepare a package. Also, i was hoping that someone would be interested in buying the entire lot since it might have a good reselling value. We will see!

Have you considered one of the Macross FB groups?

I've seen some posts from users here on those platforms.

Appreciate the help, because Carousell seems mostly for meet up, so difficult to get sellers to send overseas. I am actually not the crazy one, if anyone is crazy about Jetfire and has shelves full of them and lives in Aus, it would be Cory who lives on the opposite coast.

Yea, I figured you might need a hand as it's very localised. Dropped you a line in the group.

    Ah, definitely Cory then.
