  1. Still have to unbox the VF1/GBP set but Roy looks good!
  2. Sorry I meant stand adapter where I wrote stand I don’t really like the TV strike parts that much to be honest, so I’d rather not buy them just for the stand. The person I got these parts from is helping me out, which is really appreciated. Up until now I’ve been really lucky with my VFs…no loose joints or issues.
  3. Hey guys, I got my Strike Parts today and while the armour parts themselves are good, I discovered that one half of the flight stand is misformed and the tab on top broken. It looks like it must have come out of the mold that way as there is no deformation in the plastic packaging and no bits of plastic in there. Both the Bandai shipping box and the inner product box it came in were pristine and sealed. So not a shipping issue. This obviously prevents me from displaying the VF in fighter mode with the armour. I doubt there is anyway I can ask Bandai to send me a replacement. Any suggestions? I might be able to heat the plastic and bend it into shape but then the VF will only be held by one tab. I could possibly cannibalize part of another mount and try gluing the upper arm onto this defective one. Alternatively, I assume the TV strike parts (which I don’t have yet) come with the same flight stand? If so, I guess I could buy TV strike parts and use the stand from that set. Not the end of the world, just bad luck.
  4. I’ve got Roy on the way from Luna Park as well; it definitely looks so good with the black and yellow. I also just received my VF-1D from Luna Park this week too - packing seemed pretty good. Also don’t be afraid to transform them - just take your time, don’t force anything, and you’ll be fine. Gerwalk mode is easy - Battroid mode can be slightly finicky but there are good videos on YouTube that show how to do it properly.
  5. Went a bit nuts this week ordering Bandai DX VF-1* and just got my 1D! Thanks Luna Park for the fast shipping.
  6. Though I joke about it, my wife is cool for the most part. These are still just expensive plastic toys though, so I understand the funny looks. With that said, it is still much cheaper than my old hobby of racing cars or my daughter's club-level go karting.
  7. I already have the 1A Max; it’s the Kakizaki that I’m missing.
  8. Then consider it mission accomplished. I just ordered the 1J-GBP set and also bought a Super Parts set from a member here. So lets see, I've got a 1D, 1J+GBP, 1S Roy, and Super Parts coming this week. I better work on my delivery person interception skills and prepare a sleeping bag for the shed ... just in case. 😁
  9. Where are you located? If you're in Canada, you can try https://www.sunwardhobbies.ca/tamiya-cement-for-abs-87137/ ($5.99 CAD) for Tamiya products; they carry pretty much everything.
  10. So I caved and purchased the VF-1S Roy yesterday and still trying to decide if I want to grab the VF1J+GBP set. 1D should arrive this Thursday and quite excited to get it. You people are such a bad influence...
  11. Fellow Canuk here too, just in Whitby. I've got a 1D on the way from Japan via DHL and it should be here Thursday. I expect to get the notice to pay for brokerage+hst in the next day or two so I'll let you know what it costs.
  12. Oh so it's not just me haha. 😁
  13. Money isn't the issue, it's more the WAF (wife-acceptance-factor) and getting three more "toys". She's pretty cool with my hobbies but sleeping in the shed would be awfully cold at this time of the year... 🥶 (and yes that is a joke 😁)
  14. Yeah, I'm starting to think that you guys are right in that I'd probably buy the Roy down the road anyhow and likely end up paying more, so getting both now is probably saving money in the long run. It makes perfect sense to me and I'm sure my wife will completely agree with the logic and cost savings presented here. 😁
  15. Ugh, I'm having such a hard time deciding between Roy and the VF-1J+GBP set. My VF-1D should ship this weekend, so I'm trying to make a decision by tomorrow so I can have both shipped together but having analysis paralysis! I'm trying to show a bit of restraint by not just ordering both. 😁 I've already got a 1A and 1S + missile set and now technically a 1D. I like the idea of getting the 1J that I missed out on initially and the GBP set can obviously be swapped around to other the valks if I want to display the 1J transformed. The price is also a bit more fair when you consider you're getting the valk+armour (seems like less markup). Alternatively, the Roy is also appealing because it's the TV version (I grew up with Robotech), has the nicer display stand, Roy pilot/TV cockpit, and I'd probably grab the TV strike parts with it as well ... but I also already have the 1S which is extremely similar. I'm also kicking myself that I didn't grab the movie strike parts when I had the chance. I would love to get them for the 1S but can't justify spending over half the cost of a valk on them ($300cad+). Maybe they'll be re-released at some point. Typing it out, I'm sort of leaning towards the 1J+GBP set. Since we're sort of in holding mode for the next preorder madness, let me ask another question: If you didn't already have a 1J or Roy, out of the two choices, which would you choose and why (e.g. personal preference, collectability/future availability, etc)?
  16. So...no pressure then? 😁 What do you think the availability of the VF-1S Roy will be like over time? That's another one I'm eyeing too, but it sounds like the 1J+GBP is the better buy at the moment; the price seems pretty good for getting a valk+armour, especially if Roy will be around for a while. I'm definitely leaning towards getting the 1J+GBP. There is a local seller near me that has free shipping, but it still works out cheaper ordering direct from Japan by about $115 cad (including taxes). I might call and see if they are willing Excellent, thank you!
  17. So ... I thought I was done picking up Valkyries but, since being away from the forums for a bit, I completely missed the VF-1D release and just saw the armored VF-1J set! The VF-1D really triggered some strong memories of watching Robotech in the 80s, so now I have a VF-1D on its way to me. 😁 I'm also trying to decide if I want to grab the armored VF-1J set. I'm hoping someone here might be able to answer a question for me though: does the VF-1J that comes in the armored set have the enhancements that later releases got, in particular, does the nose-cone have the lip on the peg to keep the cone from flopping down? I'm trying to decide if I'd rather get the armored kit and just throw that on my VF-1S or VF-1A...but I've always wanted the VF-1J argh. I'm tempted to get the super parts set too but it's like $300 cad to get that over here. Wow - that's almost 2/3rds of what I paid for the VF-1D. 😅
  18. I must be the only person who wasn't super excited to try and get Roy. BTW Does anyone know if Bandai will be doing another run of SSP? I almost got screwed over by a scammer after pre-ordering one through FromJapan - I was able to get my money back but ended up not being able to find a SSP set. I think I'm done with the DX line for now (other than trying to get a SSP set). Then again, if Bandai releases an armoured VF-1, I might have to re-evaluate my position. [mini rant] I've got to say, while I love my DX VF-1A and 1S and I'm glad I managed to get them, I absolutely hate the artificial scarcity of these products. It also doesn't help when people are buying 5+ boxes, displaying one, and sticking the rest in their closets for a rainy day lol. I can understand buying two - one for display and one sealed, but 5 or 6? Maybe some people are displaying each one in a different pose or custom painting them? Then throw the scalpers into the mix and it just blows for the non-hardcore collector trying to get one of these. It's another good reason why Bandai should be producing more of these. [/mini rant]
  19. Well, it looks like my bid for a Strike Pack is going to fall through. I won a bid for one back in October and the seller advertised they were in the first wave (confirmed registration for December release). Seller hasn't shipped anything and there is another buyer that hasn't received his order yet either (and subsequently left a negative review). I've contacted FromJapan and they've attempted to contact the seller with no luck so far. I told them that if they don't hear back from the seller by tomorrow (it's been a week), I'd like a refund, minus whatever reasonable processing fee (for actually providing the service of bidding on the auction) is necessary. Worst case, I go through PayPal/CC and lose my account at FromJapan (not a big deal), but I think FromJapan will take care of things. I'm not losing money to a scammer though ($155 CAD) and I assume FromJapan can easily get their credit card company to reverse the payment to the seller on their end. So, if you use FromJapan/Yahoo Auctions, don't by anything from the seller: uniuni0099egg
  20. Mine is the exact same way. Doesn't bother me and, as you said, you can just add a dab of glue. It does make it conveniently easy to mod though if you want to replace the console decal with another one. How is the door flap on your front landing gear (the one that folds forwards, not the two flaps that open lengthwise)? Mine is super stiff to the point I couldn't open it...need to get a screw driver and lightly pry it up.
  21. Yay got my VF-1S from FromJapan. Everything looks perfect, minus the reversed 001/100. The small front landing gear cover (the one that folds open front-ways) is SUPER stiff. I'm going to have to work that loose as I couldn't deploy the front landing gear, but otherwise everything moves well.
  22. I understand where you are coming from and I think the issue here is that we’re buying a grey-market product, which is generally understood to have little to no warranty support. One can argue that a manufacturer should honour a product’s warranty regardless and proxy companies that sell grey-market products should, in my opinion, facilitate the claim process. With that said, if my product had THAT many obvious defects and my proxy retailer refused to help, it’d be hard not to want to go to my CC company (right or wrong). No one wants to be out hundreds of dollars. Then again, if the proxy company’s terms of service clearly state that they don’t deal with warranty claims ... you agreed to those terms by using their services. Such a crappy and tough situation for overseas customers...
  23. Woohoo! My 1S was delivered from the Yahoo seller to FromJapan yesterday. It should be shipping out shortly. $86 CAD for EMS though ... ouch! But already in the hole having bought it at 26.5k jpy so whatever.
