If "Toyrise" is a model line, that's just rude. I feel like I pre-ordered some Scopedogs from this line and expected them to be like the old Actic Gear toys.
Takara has already released an Exkaiser toy under this banner that I'd check out if you want to know more about the design philosophy. Obviously very different from a Legioss, but I imagine this will be the first Legioss that handles as robustly as a mainline Transformer if that's any sign of future toy quality.

Toyrise is a fairly expansive line, but the conceit with the Toyrise Braves has been to do (relatively) cheaper, more playable toys than their High End competitors. Btwn the undercarriage and the abundance of 5mm ports, it would seem that's the case with this Legioss too, which is pretty cool

Hey, for those of us who have ordered the store exclusive set from the sentinel store via proxy, does sentinel charge upfront, or will they ask for payment when the item ships? I'm thinking of using tenso to pick the TREAD up

The issue is that, I don't feel like a story is generally very compelling or immersive if the foregone conclusion from the track record is that the franchise has a promise to always leave a bunch of loose ends with bad unfinished writing. They need to wrap up their old teasers before I can trust them with starting something new. There can only be so many surviving shady factions trying to overthrow NUNS before you start to roll your eyes and wonder where the rest of them are when the next group tries the same stunt.
I also don't find it very immersive when stories like MCU or comics leave so many villains hanging that they feel like there are more villians and heroes fighting them than there are civillians to protect. UC Gundam over crowds itself in much the same way, with so many side stories set during the one year war, that there are now more hidden wars and gundams than there are probably number of mobile suits and battles that canonically could have existed during that war.
Macross doesn't trap itself like that because it doesn't keep going backwards on its timeline. If that's a pitfall being in Gundam's shadow let it dodge, I'm glad its there, and hope it stays there. Macross has a single story that keeps going forward, so all the valkyrie development lore makes sense, and happens as a consequence of all the implied or glossed over politics. The fold magic and protoculture lore also keeps getting built upon. That's the stuff I'm invested in being explained and why I care about continuity.
I'm not bent on having old characters appear. That was just an example of how to wrap things up. But it sounds like what you want to see is bound by the forgone conclusion that the writing will be bad, so you'd rather the franchise trash itself by feeding new fodder into it. That's literally exactly what I don't want the franchise to feed into in my first sentence in this post, and hope they pull themselves out of with full effort.
Imo, the only big loose thread left in my eyes is whatever the frakk was up with Lady M and Xaos, which probably won't be touched for the foreseeable future thanks to HG. With regards to the other shady organizations; everyone involved in the Vajra incident is paste on the walls of a ship that probably isn't even in the galaxy atm, Vindrance was the military equivalent of five dudes in a souped up van who blew up in Zettai Live, and the Epsilon Foundation is basically just Anaheim electronics from Gundam. For better or for worse, there's not a lot left to grapple with in a new show, barring a straight up sequel to Frontier, and even that isn't really tying up a loose end so much as emotional closure

Bumping this, still on the lookout for any more broken Valks!

How much info is there about the Feios Valkyrie? It seems like an independently developed 4th gen fighter like that should probably be a bigger deal than it is, considering how difficult it would later prove to be for fully fledged colony fleets to develop their own proprietary fighter designs. I'm especially curious about the Avionics system. Macross mecha Manual mentions an Updated version of the Queadluun-Rau avionics was used; was its implementation in any way similar to the Yf-21's usage of Queadluun-Rau derived technology?

This project continues to astound me every time you post more of it! How does it feel in hand to transform it?
-
Sweet! Thanks for the update, do you have an ETA for the Box art stickers or the decals?
-
Do we know if any Sv-51s or -52s sortied against Vf-1 Valkyries? I assume most of them had been packed up by UNS forces prior to the Vf-1's rollout but I wasn't sure

I'm not a fan of those large gaps between the intake on the legs and the chest piece in Valkyrie and Gerwalk mode. That Tomahawk armor is interesting though.
Hoping that a lot of the fighter mode gaps are symptoms of pre-production models. I can handle a wonky looking fighter, but I at least want it to look solid
-
Looks sick! The tomahawk armor confirms my suspicions that the proportions on these guys are perfectly suited for armoring up. It's a shame that this is a robotech release because it means we'll never get a stampede armor set for these guys. Hopefully they have a few more original designs in the pipeline to fill that void

Did the occupation and civil war on Windermere involve Destroids or any other notable ground forces? I only ask because Widermere underwent such a massive leap in technology essentially overnight, thanks to NUNS not having their own prime directive. As such, I figure it would've been a very different conflict from the typical Zentraedi skirmishes which usually inform NUNS doctrine which saw the immediate obsolescence of Destroids; especially given both sides had a vested interest in taking and holding the planet
-
Wow, that came out of nowhere! Hoping this means a Ba type is still in the cards
-
Dang, I was hoping to not spend much this month, but I have to have one of these lol.
-
Man this thing looks so sick. The proportions look a little odd in just a standard A stance, but it almost reminds me of revoltech figures. I'm absolutely certain it'll look dynamic in an action pose, plus it's so cool to see stylized takes on this design. Arcadia and Bandai have striven for lineart accuracy for so long, this thing is like a breath of fresh air
-
Man I really want that Olson special, but 4th quarter is already stacked for me. Idk, the Orguss hasn't sold out yet so I'm assuming the Olson special will be available for a while after. Hope they re-release the Mass Production type too

Picked up Ozma's Vf-25 from yoyakunow. Never ordered from there before, but I've never had an Armored Vf-25 so I figured why not?
-
Did the Vf-27 ever get adopted by NUNS, like the Yf-29 was, or is it a functionally extinct design now that the Galaxy is space dust? I know it was heavily optimized to the point only a cyborg could functionally operate it, but the Yf-29 was altered for use as a spec-ops aircraft so I wasn't sure if it also received a similar treatment.

This is a gorgeous project, I'm super excited to grab one! I think $150-$200 is fair for a complex resin kit like this. Mostly I'm just glad to see it exists!

Finally got a payment request for the MegaHouse Variable Action Orguss! Anyone else have theirs on the way?

Tamashii Web Shop only, meaning you have to order directly from the Premium Bandai (P-Bandai) site unless you go through a proxy that orders from them on your behalf.
https://p-bandai.jp/item/item-1000204082/
If you click on that link and hit the "International Shipping Available" page, that means you're not in Japan and can't order it yourself. Using a VPN won't work because Bandai checks your mailing address, phone number, and bank info to make sure that you live in Japan. If they don't like what they see, they'll cancel your order and shut down your account. They are hypervigilant and extremely thorough.
Will using a proxy like Tenso shipping get past them, or do they tend to shut those orders down too?

I gotta say now that I've had some more time with the figure, I'm not a huge fan of the sound booster combination.
It looks gorgeous, but my favorite thing about this guy is how fun and solid he feels to pick up and pose, in contrast with something like some 3rd party transformers.
The sound booster makes him way more fiddly in battroid mode. I do like the fighter mode connection though, it is pretty cool to whoosh around

I desperately hope that the 262 has a prominent role in the next series so that we could maybe see a new release of it, but that's a pipe dream for sure

The Pose+ makes me wanna look at past protos of theirs to see any deco differences between those and their released figures. I don't think they usually go this overboard on tampos, so I'm curious why they did so here.
