Ehhhh. I thought Herman deserved comeuppance for constantly talking noble ideals of honor and yet supporting every action of his government the whole time.

Yack Deculture that's so meta.

Has there ever been any in-universe comment about so many Zentradi adopting human-style names? (Chelsea Scarlett, Aisha Blanchett, etc.)
-
How old can an individual Zentradi get? Are there any running around as of SDFM to Δ who remember the Stellar Republic era? Or are they all too young and have to rely on historical records?

Why does this YF-25 model have NUNS hull markings when the data lists it as an SMS craft? Speaking of which, when did it appear in Itsuwari no Utahime? I barely caught the half second that one appeared aboard Macross Quarter in Sayonara no Tsubasa.

We can't speak to the organization of NUNS VF-25 squadrons in the Macross Frontier fleet, but we never saw any CF VF-25s except the VF-25A, and there were several different platoons worth of fighters around.
? Am I missing something? When has Frontier NUNS fielded the VF-25? I thought all they had was hordes upon hordes of the VF-171.

Well, yeah... same as every other Macross site worth a damn, including the Macross Compendium, Macross Wiki, Sketchley's Macross Gateway, etc. That's how research works when you're compiling a reference site from official materials.
The same is also generally true for Macross Chronicle, the franchise's official encyclopedia, which I can attest is primarily just an effective condensation of material from previous Macross publications... albeit periodically garnished with new information and clarifications. They did miss some truly obscure stuff I have in my collection, but you can't win 'em all.
That wasn't a shot against the Manual; I was pointing out the Manual gets data straight from the source and it's not run by randos making up stuff from nowhere.

I've only done a few translations on a professional basis (for the SAE), but outside of the guys who worked on Macross Delta's BD official subs all of the Macross translators here are fans and volunteers doing it for the love of the game. We may not be pros, but we get the job done.
The romanizations used are, wherever possible, the official romanizations provided in English in various official publications. There are a few that need to be updated based on new documents, but like any living document the site exists in a process of continuous revision.
That was indeed a gross oversimplification on my part. I apologize.
And no, I wasn't aware the Manual had more than one primary contributor. I assumed from the lack of updates since the Frontier movies that it was just the one guy who ran the Facebook page and he was busy with some day job.

Is this a genuine screenshot from Macross Frontier? I don't remember ever seeing a 25A close-up in battroid mode in any episode or movie.

I would bet against it. First of all there's a tendency in anime for obnoxious characters to never really get their comeuppance. For some weird reason they're celebrated nowadays. I miss the days of the Bright Slap.
When you say obnoxious, do you mean that both Japanese and international audiences as a whole are in agreement on this? I'd be happy to know that Japan as an aggregate shares our view of Bogue, but you can't always assume when to comes to Japan. After all, TVTropes has a whole page devoted to cross-region audience dissonance on characters.

The manual's information is largely copied from various Macross books. Do be aware, though, that the Manual's translations and romanizations are not of professional quality.

Is there precedent for Alto, Ozma, and Isamu's YF-29As (well the letter isn't there in the Macross 30 game but I assume it must be the case given the existence of the YF-29B) to be the same model but have differently-shaped battroid heads?

The VF-24 wouldn't be a special forces unit, it is the main Federal forces unit (presumably). Besides, the YF-29B is about on the same level at the speculated specs of the would-be VF-24 anyway, heh.
VF-24s in Federal NUNS forces would be involved mostly in tackling bigger picture problems than issues on specific planets... such as going to that giant rogue Zentradi fleet over there and.. making it go away.
Well why wouldn't a special forces unit based out of Earth field elite gear? The YF-29 is supposed to be an experimental model; if everyone in Hávamál fielded one, then wouldn't that make it numerous enough to be considered a mass/limited production VF-29? Otherwise, why should Hávamál get stuck with inferior VF-19s or VF-22s as opposed to VF-24s?
-
It occurs to me: from a realistic perspective Hávamál should have fielded VF-24s as their general model in Macross 30, seeing as they're special forces answering to central NUNS on Earth. And the YF-30 even broadly resembles the YF-24 parent design.
-
Do the UN Forces still have separate service branches in the New UN era? I see all these "NUNS" markings onscreen in Frontier and Delta, but I can't ever recall hearing anyone say "Shin Tōgō Uchū-gun", only "Shin Tōgō-gun".
-
I'm probably going to feel silly when I hear the obvious answer, but is there a specific recurring term in Macross for the head turrets on a battroid?
-
Heinz claimed in an earlier episode that he wanted Keith and the Knights to end the war as quickly as possible, though. What a twit that he doesn't really grasp that he's been making decisions affecting millions of people en masse.

Whether or not that's actually canon is ambiguous, though... the only VF-27 user from the game that got confirmed in Macross Chronicle was Mei Leeron. I'd have to check the novelization to see if they depict Havamal using VF-27s there too (I don't recall them doing so).
Oh? What do these materials say Hávamál fields besides Rod's YF-29B?

I know, right? The VF-27 needs more love.

The tldr I perceive when activists get into the news now and then is that it's bad enough when governments get into military adventurism abroad, but it's even worse that PMCs are solely in it for the money cause they're corporations.

Government users? None that we know of.
Several VF-27s are known to have ended up in the hands of private users, though. In Macross 30: Voices Across the Galaxy, Uroboros Hunters Guild administrator Mei Leeron has a VF-27γ Lucifer as her personal VF in 2060. In Macross E, Ivan Polyvanov (AKA Ivan Tsari) of Selgar Heavy Industries also has a private VF-27γ that he uses in opposition of Xaos's Tactical Sound Unit Thrones in 2062.
Actually, Hávamál does too.

Gotcha. I somewhat disagree on your last point, though. The fact that Heinz was utterly shocked when forcing Mikumo to sing the Star Song caused the deaths of everyone in the 47th Special Fleet was completely ridiculous.
-
During the run of Delta, I read other people saying that the producers clarified Windermereans' mental development is only the same as that of humans. Therefore, Freyja's mental maturity is as unusual as it would be in humans and is not the result of being in the natural Windermerean middle age. Is this true?
-
Sorry, I should have clarified: I would like to see something like the 727th Independent Squadron VF-X Ravens fully animated for television. Just reading about the adventures of Aegis Focker feels awesome!
-
I would love to see a heroic counterpoint to Hávamál. There's a premise I can get behind.
-
If they're going to pull the stupid and blatantly unrealistic "PMCs are better than the military" crap yet again, then can't they at least make it the hyper-competent SMS?

So Wright did a good deed, in his mind, and screwed up the future monumentally as a result?
As for Lady M being the original Mikumo... you may well have something there, old bean. It would explain further the deference everyone shows her as well as the cavalier way she’s used.
And when it comes to milking molds, where’s the cat-people beige VF-171 Meowkyrie, anyway!!
I would say he tried but he was foiled in doing a good deed.
And oh yeah, why hasn't the 2067 NUNS Brisingr VF-171 come out? Surely the capacity to reuse the existing VF-171 mold played a role in the 171 getting into Delta.

Yeah, the whole symbolism of Siegfrieds slay the Drakens was a complete bust.
