If you take your time you can make the Bandai's look decent.
Here's one I did of a modified VF-1D with fastpacks. I threw in a comparison shot of it next to a VT-1 Ostrich from Hasegawa as well.
I don't think it was mentioned here but the Bandai's are fully transformable (with the swapout of a few parts) and the Hase's aren't. With Hasegawa if you want to display multiple modes of the same fighter you have to buy separate kits, and they don't make a Gerwalk, that requires the bashing of two kits together (fighter and battroid).
Grayson, I love this Vf-1D so much. It's so cool.
Can you tell me where did you get the fastpack for this? From 1:72 bandai super Valk fighter?

sorry for the late reply.
those hands of gerwalk were came from bandai 1: 100 master grade gundam, zaku.....whatever.

wow!!! looks great

Very nice work man, I tip my hat to you!
I agreee with the coment regarding the sculpt of the old bandai kits, Besides the nose the rest can be made to really pop with just a little work.
Chas, the Bandai Gerwalk kits don't come with any knww cap, just that one piece joining the lower leg to the intakes.
Cheers,
Berttt
Thx Berttt.
I did read the post of your gerwalk. Those panel lines are really great and I am waiting for your great job.
Yes, you r right. My Bandai kit didn't come with the knee caps for gerwalk mode but came with knee caps for super valk mode. Actually, I have modified them for my gerwalk but forgot to put them on while taking the photo

Those look awesome man, really really awesome. They don't look like the Bandai kits at all. Did you use and Hasegawa kits in the process?
thx grayson72
yes, I used hasegawa parts on cockpit also. It's easy to get a spare seat from vf-1d, vt-1 or ve-1.
And the hands/palms r came from bandai MG kits. As what I remember, the blue one with mg gp02 hands and the red one with hands of rx78.
To other guys,
thx a lot.
herewith some of the photo in the process.

the original colour of the kit is in red. the parts in white colour r reconstructed by styrene board. Speak frank, I think the original shape and feature of both old valk kits r not bad. What I had done is only rebuilt the joints of legs and feet. To modify the gesture and then add some details on them.

just completed a pair of gerwalk and want to share with u guys.
Both of them r old bandai plastic kits (content same to imai old kits).
The blue vf-1j was modified from 1:72 transfromable kit. i have fixed it in the gerwalk mode and now it cannot transfrom anymore.
This one is the 1:72 bandai super valk which can be assemble to a gerwalk mode. the cone nose was replaced by a spare part of Hasegawa kit.
hope u guys like them

Here are some pics of various bits that I am modifying - nothing is finished yet.
Corrected Arm compared to stock arm:
[attachmentid=41143]
Corrected nose (I have another master of just the nose cone to make copies):
[attachmentid=41144][attachmentid=41145]
Scribed leg detail compared to a ahse fighter leg:
[attachmentid=41146]
the Scribed detail on leg looks so great

He's not human. That's pretty crazy work there. I wish I could do something like that without having to spend too much time on it though. I have other things to do...
... but still, that posable Focker pilot was just about the craziest thing I ever saw.
another work built by that crazy guy
-
oh!!! I like the scheme.
would u please tell me how to make the decal? by inkjet printer?

it's Mr Hobby no.1 pure white. I don't have an airbrush. So just use "spray can " to do the painting job with some pastel and chalk shading.
Grayson72, I saw some of your work. They are great. Would u mind to teach me how to draw the seam line/panel line on the decal? Or give me a link for reference. thx.

but, something is missing <ï¼ï¼ï¼ï¼ï¼yes, u r right
and the pilot. U can find, I made quite a lot of mistake on the painting. And the gesture, I think I made it wrong also. Now it looks like a bus driver holding a steering wheel.

Panel lines....u mean the seams?
I used GSI NO.28as the main base colour, then used Tamiya X11(chrome silver....it's not off white) to fill in the seams. Sure, some of the paint will come outside the seam. Then I used Tamiya X-20 thinner to remove the paint outside the seams.
And u can see, for the red and blue Stripe pattern. I used brown and dark blue to fill in the seams.
