Macross's music tends to be more uptempo, bouncy pop music with the occasional sad song thrown in.  The obvious exceptions being Fire Bomber, which was uptempo rock music and the occasional ballad, and Sharon Apple's more experimental pop style that was achieved by having virtually every track be by a different artist.  Hikaru Utada's style, or at least the parts of it I've been most exposed to, are almost exclusively slow, sad songs, most of which sound the same.  Not really a great fit, in my opinion.  

That kind of cameo is also pretty expensive, and even well-funded anime productions are still running on a razor-thin margin.  If they're going to do something like that, I'd rather see a collection of previous Macross vocalists collaborate on a show's opening, like what was done in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part IV: Diamond is Unbreakable with the UNITS version of Great Days.

I mean her music is top notch especially the beautiful Sakura Drops song which I love. It would be cool if a future Macross series instalment had her as a guest Idol complete with songs sung by her along with even the character modified after her. She gives Mari Iijima a run for her money. Would you want it to happen give your thoughts?

Yesterday, the evil Macross villain Bodolzaa was reincarnated as Donald Bodolzaa Trump by winning the 2016 presidential election!

I mean their was supposedly a scene in the Anime TV series where Bodolzaa groped Misa Hayase boobs, which is similar to the infamous Donald Trump misogynist attitudes towards women via the "Grab Her By The Pussy" comment that was made towards the end of the election cycle. Which if it is true please let me know fans?

I got confused at first since what you mentioned is that Sony has the rights to release anything related to Robotech, correct? So if they do release the SDFM series separately, does that mean they're going to release the 'original story' told in SDFM or story 'told' in Robotech? I don't think they have the right on the original story here, correct? So how come one can release the original story if they don't have right to? So what you're asking here is the Ultimate Robotech Macross Saga not The Super Dimension Fortress Macross.

Because Sony has the rights to Robotech, it does lead to the potential possibility for Sony to do DVD/Blu-Ray re-releases and streaming of the 3 related Japanese series The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA if they chose to do. But that is up to both Sony and HG which depends on the complicated licensing issues.

Sorry, Macrossfanx9. I know you are new to the franchise and hyped at this prospect, but there is a LOT of bad blood between us and Harmony Gold for various historical and not-so-historical reasons.

The short version is that they have been tremendous dicks(to put it mildly) to both the fanbase and the creators, and there is no great love for them here.

Consequently most of us would, to put it bluntly, rather dance while they burn than give them one red cent. Hence the less-than-warm reception your idea has generated.

I am aware about HG with the franchise, and knowing their track recored with both Robotech and Macross. It has a slim to none chance of happining. But I did do a poll above which has more yes votes then no votes, but you never know?

I am aware that Sony Pictures Entertainment owns the movie rights to Robotech movie, as well as home video/digital distribution/internet streaming for the Robotech series. It also means that Sony Pictures Entertainment has the rights to re-release The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA.

Because if Sony Pictures Entertainment did release the Ultimate The Super Dimension Fortress Macross Blu-Ray set, it would include the following:

(note: both Vic Mignogna and Mari Iijima live in Los Angeles, where Sony Pictures Entertainment is located.)

Even though it is not related to Macross franchise, I have found one of the best Video Game based on Macross without the license. And that game is Bulk Slash which is even better then the actual Macross video game released for the same system around the same time period.

Can you fans find some of the similarities between Macross and this game, have a guess?

I think Folker was picked up as a common misspelling due to the way the English cast was pronouncing the name for the original dub. These linguistic errors happen, and they find their way into internet lore. But yeah...

In both cases, the character is a direct nod to Anthony Fokker the aviation pioneer and aircraft manufacturer.

Hay, that makes a lot of sense considering the series is no stranger at using references to real life aircraft stuff which Shōji Kawamori loves to references with the series.

Roy's name was not changed to Folker. It was actually changed from Focker to Fokker, making the aviation reference more explicit.

Hi Macross fans on the Macross World forums.

I am doing a post on the censored/edited content of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross when it was adapted into the Macross Saga of Robotech. The post is inspired by the popular Anime uncensored websites such as Dragon Ball Z Uncensored, Sailor Moon Uncensored, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Uncensored, and Anime News Network The Edit List as we all know the first half of Robotech based on Super Dimension Fortress Macross was butchered by Harmony Gold with many changes. Including changes to tie in with the later unrelated TV series that it uses.

Note that this project is WIP at the moment, but will update it if fans can help me out on this.

And the comparisons are using the Japanese subtitle/ADV dub version with the original 1985 broadcast version of Robotech as the bases.

It is worth mentioning that the Harmony Gold VHS Volume 1: Booby Trap/2004 Remaster version of the episodes from Harmony Gold do exist, but they are not as badly censored as the1985 broadcast version of Robotech.

I have been looking for the 1984 Macross Volume 1: Booby Trap VHS Harmony Gold dub online, but can not find it anywhere. I would like to compare it with the ADV Uncut Dub, the 1985 Robotech broadcasting, and the 2004 Remaster version of the episodes in terms of censorship of dialog/scenes, etc?

If anyone can link it to me to watch online, or have a download link, please let me know?

I did meet him recently at AnimeExpo 2016 and he mentioned that he had probably been banned.

I didn't inquire further since I'm sorta new to this online Macross community in general and didn't want to get into any unpleasant details that I didn't have context for.

I was at AnimeExpo 2016 and got to see the Shōji Kawamori panel, it was awesome!
