  1. I think more of the complaints come from Bandai's apparent lack of care for the Macross franchise. Bandai has released better engineered and better functioning transformable Gundam kits for cheaper retail. As well, the proportions for Battroid mode are a little wonky for my tastes, but that's just because I prefer the look of Yamato's v2 1/60 as opposed to the broader chest look of the 1/48s. That being said, the kit has a lot of potential for someone with more modding/customizing experience. I'm no slouch when it comes to basic skills but I don't do much to alter the original kit, so take these statements in reference to a more traditional "out of box" build.

  2. i tried to put them to cart and there is that big warning about it :(

not all of the items I want are in a single store

Unfortunately that means paying two separate shipping costs, and if each order from a separate store has a total of less than Y5k they will charge the Y500 handling fee for each order. Best to wait it out until you can get everything from one location.

I've been meaning to ask as well is there a list or some kind of reference that says each of the Mandarake branches and how quick/reliable they are?

  3. Just added myself to the map, Canadians seem pretty sparce here. I started collecting as a kid with Transformers and Marvel figures mainly. Branched out into Masterpiece Transformers in my late teens, and then got back into Gunpla recently (about two years ago). I always really enjoyed Macross and my dad was a huge fan of Robotech in the '80s so I grew up seeing a lot of his older model kits. Now that I am starting to get out of debt I can finally afford the Macross stuff that used to only be pipe dreams as a kid, started small so far with the Renewal VF25 (Alto) and Arcadia's 30th Anniversary VF-1J. I also have the Robotech RPG Tactics miniatures game (so many god damn small parts, thank god for Warhammer and 40k experience) and the Bandai 1/72 Hikaru VF-1J. I was still pretty new to getting back into plamo when I built the Hikaru 1J, so I overdid it quite a bit on the top coat and fraked up a few stickers, so it's glued together in Fighter Mode now on my desk at work, looks fine from a distance for coworkers that don't know anything about the franchise or Hobby :p

  4. Couldn't get any of them in time. My hope is that this release helps drive the price of previous YF-19 releases down a bit. I've started to see more and more of them available as the pre-order date got closer so hopefully the pattern continues.

  5. To be honest I was already looking at the VF19 as an alternative and was even starting to like the Fire Valk colors a bit more. And yeah the yellow on the 19S stands out a fair bit and I'm not sure how much I like it. But most of the more colorful paint schemes have been starting to grow on me more as time goes on. Maybe it's time to sit down and watch Macross 7 to really get into them.

  6. Yeah I had read through and watched that video review as well as a few others and it seemed all of the loose joint issues in the anymoon review were only really present in his review. I don't know, I kind of like the look of the Yamato one and it's a lot cheaper to find. I was mainly looking for more info on the common breaks or loose joints. Thanks to everyone for all the info and quick replies

  7. After checking a couple reviews I still haven't been able to come to a concrete answer so I figured the best place to ask would be here. Is the first run Yamato YF 19 (box art in attached image) a release that should be avoided in favor of the later releases (such as the fold booster gift set)? Or is it still a good release on it's own? I just can't really afford the Arcadia release and the price difference of the two Yamato runs is pretty vast so I was hoping for a clearer description of any updates/fixes.

  8. That's kind of what I figured. I finally bit the bullet on the 30th Anniversary VF-1J as my first Arcadia 1/60, because of the sale on HLJ. Still not completely in love with the color scheme so I thought I could try to cover some of it up with super parts :p In all honesty though the paint is growing on me, and I'm sure it'll be nicer in hand than in photos.

  9. Hey guys, first time posting here and I tried lurking a bit to find the answers to my question but to no avail. I'm just trying to figure out where I can find super/strike/GBP sets for Yamato/Arcadia's v2 VF-1 Valks. I tried eBay and mandarake only really able to find full sets (valk with parts) and I'm just looking for the parts, and to get an idea what the average price for these sets should be. Any help at all is greatly appreciated, Cheers.
