Needs a lot more red---most of the tops of the wings should be red, tailfin mostly black:

And of course, none of it is gunmetal-silver-grey.

(it's not a screencap, but this is the final scheme they went with---even freeze-framing the movie doesn't help THAT much, but it's enough to tell that what actually shows up in the movie, is definitely this version, and not any others floating around out there)

PS----does the toy completely lack Decepticon logos?

Where'd you get this? Got any better views of Dropkick and Blitzwing's alt modes?

  2. Was working on cleaning up some schematics from the instructions of various Hasegawa SDF-1 kits for a project I'm working on, aaaaaand came to realize I don't super care for the proportions Hasegawa have used.  The Yamato/Arcadia SDF-1, on the other hand, is about as close to perfection as you can get with its proportions, so I was wondering if anyone who owned one wouldn't mind taking some measurements for me. I don't need measurements for every little detail, just some of the general shapes so I can rework the orthographics from the Hasegawa instruction books into something that looks a lot nicer.

  3. Got mine in the mail a few days ago, looks like it's gonna be a great build! :D Gonna be doing mine up in her Plus appearance with the gray FAST Pack (painting the shoulder missiles and boosters gray as well) so I was real pleasantly surprised to find the Plus-era pilots on the sprues. I'd already consigned myself to just painting the SMS pilot in Isamu's old colors!

  4. So, long time no see huh? Life kinda kicked my ass! Anyway, I'm not really happy with what I've shown for this anymore, and it's been such a long time I might as well just make a new thread instead of dredging up the old one.

The working title as of now is Macross: Inferno. The working title before that was Macross: Omega, but then Macross: Delta's title was revealed and I decided against using Omega anymore. (Geeze, has it really been that long?) The story picks up in 2051, and follows a young pilot by the name of Markus who flies for the Spacy's air demonstration team Angel Birds, who have been assigned to travel with the newly launched SDF/C-01 Macross Global. There he meets an old buddy from flight school and becomes fast friends with one of the Global's bridge officers, setting into motion the love triangle which is, of course, essential to any Macross story. En route back to Earth from a show on Eden, the Global receives a mysterious distress call and changes course to investigate. What they find might threaten the entire galaxy...

A bit vague but it's about all I can say for now. The Elysion from Delta pretty much rekindled my entire interest in this story, as it fit what I envisioned for Inferno's Macross perfectly. I was originally using a ship of my own design, but I pretty much instantly fell in love with the Elysion, and seeing what she looked like in Cruiser mode sealed the deal. So far I'm toying with two possible color schemes, one based on the Battle 7 since the Elysion just uses slightly modified New Macross-Class legs, and the other based on the TV SDF-1 as the Global is the first of her class. I think the SDF-1 scheme makes more sense, but the Battle 7 scheme is just dang pretty. Let me know what you think.

(Forgive the crappy art, just traced these as there aren't any super good references for the Elysion yet, (and Mr. Kawamori doesn't seem to put out finished mechanical drawings anymore in favor of 3D model shots, please correct me if I'm wrong though! I'd love to be wrong, those bits of his art of the Siegfried from the 2nd ED of Delta are so tantalizing...) and I just wanted to quickly get the color schemes down to see how they looked on the SDF/C)

I'll try and post some character (and hopefully Valkyrie) art tomorrow, stay tuned! It's good to be back!

(Also is there any way to change Display Names because I don't totally care for DeductiblyBonkers as my internet alias anymore.)

  5. I'd keep going tbh. I'm not really impressed with the new VF-2SS yet, sure I'm glad we're getting an official 1/60 VF-2SS at all, but from what you've shown I think I like the proportions on your model better. Seems a bit less flimsy too.

  6. I'm just messing with ya, it looks perfect :)

I actually don't know if the new YF-19/VF19 Excalibur schematics from the Master File are more or less correct than the old This Is Animation schematics. And I certainly understand that most folks won't have those old books. They look about the same to me, though the VFMF schematics feature a little more detail.

Although since we are on the subject, I have noticed that the VF-1 Valkyrie fighter mode schematics in the Master File are a little off. The VF-1 Valkyrie top view schematic from the Master File is more detailed, but has a poor rendition of the cockpit canopy. The VFMF canopy is faulty compared both to Kawamori's original drafted schematics and the TIA schematics. I guess the VFMF can't win em all :)

I did notice while going over this that there didn't seem to be enough space between the base of the wing and the engine nacelle for an accurate stripe decal like on other 19s, so maybe I'll give the TIA schematics a try after all.

  7. Are you going to bork (kill, badly) one? I mean after the triangle resolves or as a resolution to said triangle (ala Guld)? I don't know why but I'm kind of a fan of borking characters...

Dunno yet! I certainly do enjoy borking characters when I can though, I'd say I give everyone a roughly 66% chance of survival.^^

  8. That's sexy. I really like the Armament FAST packs off the frontier set.

Thanks! Still need to figure out a definite time period for this to take place, but I figure that those shoulder missile racks wouldn't look too out of place regardless of whether its closer to Plus or Frontier. Not gonna try the Frontier 19s boosters until I figure that out though. :p

Also, wasn't really aware of it at the time I made the thread, but would posting all of this in the Macross Fanfiction thread be better?
