  1. It's the toy that got me into the Macross toy universe.

I still remember seeing the Toycom ads in comic books back in the day, remember my disappointment in the constant delays and eventual cancellation and how I got my first Yamato off of Yahoo! Auctions (the US site) for around $ 75 shipped.

On topic I'll probably skip these VF-1 Super/Strike part sets, again, never really saw the need. I prefer the bundles and not every VF-1 I buy needs additional armor or parts.

    -b.

Same here, I knew about Robotech and I had bought one of those old Revell fully transformable VF-1 model kits at an antique store but it was missing parts so I came on here way way back when (2000-2001) in order to find out more about it and try to get parts. Around the same time I found the Toycom ads for the YF-19 and had to have it. Placed a pre-order with a member on here who had a shop and the rest was history.

My dad and grandpa ended up getting me the whole Mac+ set in Singapore from a member on here who had a shop there, that was probably 2002 when the VF-11 came out.

  2. Got my Cavalier from HLJ. Color scheme is very nice.

However, on their site it says "With Option Parts" and yet I didn't get anything. I've emailed HLJ to ask them but just wondering if anyone else had the same problem, or if I just didn't look close enough.

  3. I have a first release Millia Q-Rau I'd be willing to part with. Little dusty but I believe it's complete, just got to dig out the box. I also had an extra Millia figure set but I just sold it

  4. Ebay's price seems reasonable so I might just pick one up there. The DYRL CF -1A is the one I've been dying for since the V2s came out. Normally I'd get multiples but meh. Probably should pick up a Cavalier on HLJ while I still can.

  5. Macek died in 2010. Not sure if that was a joke or not.

The lack of subs is most likely due to the fact that Big West/Bandai will want to shop this set around for licensing in the USA.

More money for them to be made by licensing it out than by selling ten or fifteen extra boxsets to guys on Macross World.

I meant "Macek" in the sense that Harmony Gold still tries to shoot down any forward progress on Macross/Mospeada/Battletech in the US.

  6. Thanks! Then all I have to do is remaster my own versions of the BD's I just paid $600 bucks for! Or...have my kids hold up flash cards like the ring girls at a boxing match! :p

The point I'm trying to make is that YOU shouldn't have to extend such a generous offer. Given that the series is 30 years old, and has been officially translated and subbed at least twice that we know of, it wouldn't kill them to include the subs with this set which purports to be an "ultimate" edition. Adding subs can't possibly cost them much more.

I guarantee Carl Macek has something to do with this.

Why spend the extra dime to give proper subs when it's just another thing for him to bitch about?

  7. That sounds about right, although you left out the part where someone will post the pic of a Panic Button!! :p

Also, there was nothing about childhoods being raped or the shade of red the UN Spacy logo should be in or the waves of people proclaiming that it sucks and will disintegrate shoulders as soon as you touch it, even though it doesn't even exist yet.

And then Jenius will rate it 4x/50.:p

  8. I had a Toynami Alpha. It was seriously one of the worst transforming toys I've ever had the displeasure of owning, and I've had those cheap plastic 1/55 knockoffs before. They were better made and used better materials. And I'm being serious.

You'd have to pay me for me to own one again.

  9. What's the difference between Yamato's and Bandai's Queadluun toy? They look similar in pics but I haven't found anything solid so I figured I'd ask all the legendary folks here on MW.

You mean the Robot Damashii Q-Rea? For one thing, the Q-Rea is a much much smaller toy. The Yamato Q-Rau is 1/60 so it towers over the 1/60 Valks.

Otherwise they're basically the same, other than the designs are slightly different. The Q-Rea is more poseable and fun to play with whereas the Q-Rau is cool to pose with your 1/60 Valks but otherwise doesn't do much else.
