  1. I'm actually more interested in the wiper blade/arm itself, than the rubber.  I currently have Bosch Micro Edge--I actually thought it slightly inferior to OEM wiping and lift-wise, but lasted much longer.

My current main concern is lifting off at highway speeds.  The Bosch Micro Edge I have have more/larger cut-outs than most others, but still lift.  Rain-X ones have more cuts (both on top and slots) but smaller, but I have always disliked the beading effect in any form on a window, and I think their blades (like silicone ones) try to do that.

Looked at the Aerovantage by Anco, and trying to find the Bosch Icons or possibly Valeo, which are VERY different and supposed to beat all "conventional" wipers for aerodynamics.  (So many blades simply have horizontal slots, which do nothing IMHO--especially since horizontal slots ENHANCE lift on wings)

Currently thinking of just buying one blade each from several brands, and seeing what I like.

Don't buy Anco. They fall apart easily after only a few months.

Also, what kind of glass cleaner do you use on your windshield? A vast majority of car owners swear by Stoner Invisible Glass. From my experience, it works really good, as long as you use old newspapers (which I don't always have lying around). I recently switched to Meguiar's NXT Generation Glass Cleaner, and I won't be using anything else. It works best with microfiber towels (I got at least a dozen of them in my trunk) and, like Invisible Glass, can also be used to clean the wiper blades. Plus, it smells like Key Lime Pie.

  2. Sad that the following question is almost OT:

Has anyone tried the Bosch Icon wipers?  Lots of people seem to like them, and apparently they are very similar to what 04+ Grand Prix's have.

It's spring, and that means time to replace stuff---first headlights and wipers, then brake and power steering fluid.

I'm not too keen about wiper brands, but Bosch is worth a try. Michelin is another brand to consider. On my old Civic, I used Trico and Rain-X wipers, and they lasted as long as OEM.

  3. Actually on the Larry/Rally issue is for GSC and it is supported in the manga several times.  Accroding to Michael House (once part of AnimEigo, now working for Gainax) says thats its really Larry, its a translation error on Studio Proteus.

Then I guess ADV made the same mistake as well with the anime.

  4. Did you know that Rally's name is supposed to be Larry?

Actually, she was Rally since day one. There were rumors of Sonoda changing Rally to "Larry" to curb copyright issues he had after a falling-out with Toshiba EMI.

  5. Riding Bean (ライディング・ビーン)
    ARTMIC/Youmex/AIC/Toshiba EMI, 1989
    AnimEigo, 1990, 2002
    Directed by Yasuo Hasegawa
Based on characters created by Kenichi Sonoda (Gunsmith Cats, Bubblegum Crisis)
    Running Time: 46 minutes
Not Rated (Suggested 16-Up). Contains graphic violence, nudity, mature situations and profanity.

    Cast (Japanese)
Hideyuki Tanaka (Otacon in Metal Gear Solid) as Bean Bandit
Naoko Matsui (Inez in Martian Successor Nadesico, Pai in Dangaioh) as Rally Vincent
Mami Koyama (Chiyoko in Millennium Actress, Oyuki in The Dagger of Kamui) as Semmerling
Megumi Hayashibara (you already know most of her roles...) as Carrie
Kei Tomiyama (1938-1995) (Susumu in Uchuu Senkan Yamato, Duke Fleed in UFO Robo Grendizer) as Detective Percy
Chieko Honda (Kurumi in Kimagure Orange Road, Miku in Hades Project Zeorymer) as Chelsea Grimwood
Nobuo Tobita (Kamille in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Aoshima in Ah! My Goddess) as Dick
    Jun Hazumi as George Grimwood

    Cast (English)
    Who cares? These guys suck!

    Synopsis
Bean Bandit and his partner Rally Vincent are couriers for hire - transporting clients and delivering goods in Bean's custom sports car "Buff the Roadbuster" for a hefty price. But when they are hired to escort a kidnapped girl named Chelsea to her home, they don't realize they're being framed for kidnapping as their former clients Semmerling and Carrie plan their escape with Chelsea's father and the ransom money.

    Story: B+
Long before Gunsmith Cats existed, there was this one-shot OAV that had everything a guy could ever dream of: guns, girls and fast cars. Riding Bean was one of the first few direct-to-video anime titles licensed in the U.S. Like most action films, Riding Bean has a shallow plot, but it's compensated with some likeable characters and a heaping of comedy. It's like watching The Blues Brothers and Smokey and the Bandit in anime form.

    Animation: B+
The character designs by Sonoda are a favorite among many hardcore anime fans, not to mention the Roadbuster and Percy's 1967 Mustang Shelby GT500 (a similar one also appears in GSC). Animation quality is similar to Bubblegum Crisis (which was produced by the same companies, anyway), but even by today's standards, Riding Bean boasts one of the best car chases ever animated.

    Soundtrack: B+
Since the story takes place in Chicago, the soundtrack consists of American jazz and rock. Not really something to warrant a CD purchase, but still goes well with the anime.

    Sub vs. Dub
Don't even bother with the dub. Not only does the voice acting suck, the re-recorded sound effects are even worse.

    DVD Extras: C-
Just a gallery and the original Japanese trailer. Nothing else.

    Blu-ray review coming soon.

    The Bottom Line
Next to Gunsmith Cats, Riding Bean is a must-buy for anime fans who also dig cars and guns.

  6. Earlier tonight on South Park:

1007: "Tsst" - When Cartman's mom can't control him at all, Nanny 911 and Super Nanny arrive to correct the fatass's manners - only to fail miserably. Then comes Cesar Millan of The Dog Whisperer, who manages to control Cartman's behavior with unusual results.

I don't know about you guys, but this is probably the funniest episode of this season. Cartman reciting Emperor Palpatine's lines when he tells the nanny she's sterile is a complete riot. What a way to make up for last week's mediocre episode.

"Yes, let the anger come! Strike me down while you can! But it won't make your dried-up ovaries any more fertile!"
