1. How about a blank valk that comes with all three heads? Rather than molding new trays, Yamato could store the other two heads in the removable tray pieces that cover the wingtips. To further save money they could just use the plain white boxes from the Super Stealth and simply print up stickers for the boxes that say "Blank VF-1" or something. That sounds cool to me. I'll take a case, please.

2. Was there ever a CF with Fast Packs/Strike ever seen on screen?

405558

I think i've seen one in Force of Arms. Before they blew up Bodolza's fortress....there was one sticking out ofthe hatch with the other missiles.

405564

There are also some in "Viva Maria."

3. I don't have the LV2 yet, but my Stealth has the regular scooped-out headrest seat that replaced the old-style flat headrest years ago. I don't see any other changes to it besides the color it was molded in.

4. Okay, I let the paint set up for several days and decided it was finally time to transform these two and take some pics. Sorry, some of them came out a little blurry since I let my camera's batteries get too low before replacing them, but they're good enough for now. I did notice a very small amount of wear on some the little nubs and pegs when I transformed them back into Battroid mode, but it's barely noticeable and definitely not worth the effort to retouch them. Anyway, here's the pics. Enjoy.

5. I wholeheartedly agree. Since then, Bryan's had the time to get on his computer and list stuff on eBay, so he sure as hell could've stopped by here to defend himself and let Fortress_Maximus and the rest of us know what was happening. Come on, as long as your computer is already fired up, why not take a few extra minutes to keep the community informed? "I'm too busy" is a pretty lame excuse when we can all see that he's got plenty of time to list items on eBay.

404647

Actually... isn't his business selling stuff? E-bay listings sounds like work related activities.

Having worked in small businesses and having been a small business owner, I can appreciate it when someone says 'too busy.'

It's not like going to school/college/university, or even being employed by someone else, where you get to say "I should be doing an assignment, but instead I'll surf the internet and waste some time." That luxury is often not available, as if you don't do assignments in a timely manner, you are apt to end up behind in payments and losing your business. In fact, small business owner/operators often see 'work' hours intrude into 'rest/relax/play' hours.

So, not playing the devils advocate, just reminding people of the nature of small businesses and busy equalling busy.

404730

If you look at his feedback on eBay, almost all of it is from Macross-related items, not the high dollar electronics he currently has listed. These items stay listed for weeks, not days, and rarely sell. Thus it is a simple matter to automatically relist them without having to re-type every single description. However, he had to take the time to individually list each and every Macross item that he recently sold, despite most of their descriptions being very similar. I thought his business was about selling electronics, not his collection of toys. I guess since no one is buying his Plasma TVs and such, he has to sell off his toys time and again to make ends meet. Sucks for him, but that's his problem and is no excuse for his actions.

If he's got hours to spare typing out his eBay listings, he's got plenty of time to post here. Any negative comments he receives here are valid since it's his own fault for not attempting to explain the situation. Then, after months of nothing, he posts a rant about how he's upset that we've been saying bad things about him. Not to mention how he's trying to claim that he's not responsible for what happened and wants to pass the blame onto PayPal and Fortress_Maximus. Yeah, it's a f**ked up situation, but it's his own fault for utterly disappearing when he owes a member a large amount of money. I've got nothing personal against the guy, and I bought stuff from him on eBay in the past, but his behavior here is unwarranted. I don't care if PayPal did freeze his account - his actions are just plain shady and he deserves any criticism and legal ramifications that come in the future.

6. - the last time Bryan posted here was 4th April 2006, I don't blame anyone for misunderstanding him, why should the MW members apologise?

I wholeheartedly agree. Since then, Bryan's had the time to get on his computer and list stuff on eBay, so he sure as hell could've stopped by here to defend himself and let Fortress_Maximus and the rest of us know what was happening. Come on, as long as your computer is already fired up, why not take a few extra minutes to keep the community informed? "I'm too busy" is a pretty lame excuse when we can all see that he's got plenty of time to list items on eBay.

Instead he waits a couple of months, lets his ego get bruised, and then posts a freaking book about how he's not responsible, it's all PayPal's fault, and he's not going to give Fortress his money until we say we're sorry for mis-judging him. What a load of crap! And he's got the balls to say that Fortress is a "crybaby" who's behavior is "immature and childish?" Give me a break! I still stand behind my earlier comment in this thread - track him down and beat his punk ass!

While it may be true that Fortress_Maximus could have taken steps to avoid all of this, that doesn't let Bryan off the hook. He gladly took the items, and maybe even resold them - all while Fortress did not have the money he was owed. That is wrong in every since of the word.

If Bryan wants an apology from me, here it is:

Bryan F. Davis,

I am deeply and truly sorry that you're a total ass. Your participation in this community will definitely not be missed by me. Have fun in court, that is, if you even bother to show up. I'm sure the judge will really be impressed with your "flawless" eBay feedback and PayPal-harassment theory. Your actions, or lack thereof, have only served to show us your true colors. I'd wish you a good day, but I really don't.

7. well, one thing is for sure, you will get a superior picture quality from the animeigo set.  i heard the adv set is horrible. kyasu

403665

As far as I can tell, the Animeigo and ADV sets have the same restored footage. They both look the same on my TV and are leaps and bounds above the grainy, dull colors of Homotech.

8. From the little I've seen, they are almost identical, but there are some very minor differences. For example, the line in the Animeigo set reads, "We will now present an aerobatics demonstration performed by our newest, most powerful Valkyrie fighters." The ADV line reads, "We will now present an aerobatics demonstration performed by the newest, most powerful of fighters: the Valkyrie!" See, nothing major. Just a little bit of difference in the way some of the lines are phrased. I'd check more, but frankly I bought the ADV discs for the sole purpose of not having to read the subtitles.

9. Waded through the last six pages, but didn't see an answer to what I am about to ask.  Just wanted to double check that the ADV Macross Dub still allows you to see the Japanese original show with English subtitles.  Also if this is so, are the subtitles updated or the same as the Animeigo set?

403510

Yes, they also have Japanese language with English subtitles. I've checked the first few minutes from the first episode and the subtitles aren't exactly the same as the Animeigo ones, but they're pretty damn close. Thankfully, they aren't just subs of the new English dialogue.

10. Here's the link to the 1/48 GBP review. While it does cost almost as much as the valk alone, I think it's well worth it because of the sheer amount of detail Yamato put into it.
11. The TV VF-1J Hikaru was just re-released when the 1/48 GBP was introduced, so there should be plenty of both available for a while. You can enjoy the valk by itself, but if you buy the armor alone you won't be able to do anything with it until you buy the valk.

12. Great work as usual, Kurt. But I gotta say that is one ugly, though unique, paint scheme. I think it would look a helluva lot better as just a Low-Vis tiger stripe without the orange.

13. The legs aren't supposed to be glued into place, but I've never seen them loose enough to just fall out on their own. That's kinda scary since there's a lot of paint on the Stealth legs which could chip or scratch if it hit something hard enough. Sorry to hear about all the problems you're having with yours, roboto.

14. Thanks, nightmare. In the anime there are no black bands on the arms and legs, but I took a little artistic license and added them. I think it brings a little something extra to their look since they're a bit bland without them.

15. First off, thanks to everyone for the kind words. It's been quite some time since I've done any sort of modeling or customization, so it's really encouraging to receive your praise. Thanks again.

On that note, my TV Kakizaki is now done, but I figured it was better to simply post in this thread again rather than start a new one. This is another rattle-can custom using Krylon Fusion Satin Khaki. The best part about this color is that I didn't need to spray a matte clear coat on it since it's already pretty dull. Again, I've only got a few battroid pics for now since I don't want to transform it until the paint sets up for a few more days. If anyone hasn't tried Fusion, I'd definitely recommend it - especially for simple jobs like this.

Oh, and just in case anyone gets the impression that I'm some sort of valk-customizing-machine since I whipped out these two so quickly - I can assure you that I'm not. I had disassembled, stripped, and prepped both of these at the same time, so everything was already taped off and ready for paint when I started. Not to mention the fact that there's really not that much work involved in making these two. But enough talk; onto the pics. Hope you like it.

16. Wow, that turned out really nice! Great job, GutsAndCasca! The only thing I would do differently is to put a matte finish on it since it's a bit glossy right now. Other than that, it looks awesome. One day I'll be brave enough to try something like that.

17. Well, here it is. It came out pretty well considering it's a rattle-can job. I still need to add a few more markings and do some panel-lining on the blue, but I'm waiting for the paint to set up a bit longer. That's the same reason why I've only got battroid pics - if I scratch up the paint during transformation right now, I'll lose my mind. I wanted to wait until it was 100% complete before posting, but I just couldn't because I really dig this paint scheme. I used Krylon Fusion Patriotic Blue and then laid down a few coats of matte finish clear coat to cut down on the glossiness. I've gotta say, I really like the Fusion, but they need to make more colors.

Oh, and I've got to give a major shout-out to haterist for the Brasso and steel wool trick to remove the original paint. It works like a charm. Thanks, hater! You saved me the hassle of having to do a total repaint!

Anyway, here's a few pics. Enjoy.

18. What an ass! Not you, agr33; that dipsh*t who runs Treasure Island Sports. I assume that Western Union can provide you with proof he cashed the MO, but make damn sure to also keep a copy for yourself. I've heard other horror stories about this guy, but personally I've never had any problems with him. Of course, I've since stopped buying from him since I can usually find better deals elsewhere.
