  1. Been wanting one of these for over a year now. The SP version is probably only going to get harder to find and more expensive. And so I decided to pull the trigger on an SP that was on Ebay from a US Seller. And I couldn't be happier with it and really glade I decided to spring for it! Bought it for myself as an early B-day gift, plus I had some cash back on my CC to use. I like it so much, I may try to get the normal version as well at some point, if the price is right.

  2. Now that you mention the frame of the canopy, good idea. I'll add it to the list. I'm going to try my hand at painting the cockpit and pilot.......if I can that is. This was a good learning experience, it is the first model I've built in about close to 12 years or so, and I've worked on it in stages over about a year.

  3. So far, I've built 2 Cosmo Zero's, the Earth Fleet set 1, and Yamato. I am about 85% finished with the Garmila Fleet set 1 (Destoria heavy cruiser and Kelkapia High speed Cruiser) and about 50% finished with the Garmilla Battle Carrier. No Issues yet, but a Yamato section would be cool.

Then I have just about all the other kits still to build...2 Cosmo Zero Alpha 2 kits (one to build as Yamamoto's and one to build as an "Aniversary" version painted like a WWII Japanese Zero to go with my 2 Harlock Space Wolf fighters that I built up in WWII Fokker Wolfe livery) both the Cosmo Falcon kits, the Polmeria Carrier, and the Garmilla fleet set 2 (Gaiderol class battleship and Kripitera class destroyers). Plan on getting one of the Quad-deck carriers and the Haizeraad class Battleship as well.

Man, I got a lot of building to do!

Here are my Zero's and SW-190's for those that haven't seen them.

Sorry for the slight thread hijack.

    Chris

Those Zeros, are they painted at all?

  4. My first attempt at panel lining and top coating. I used a Micron marker and Future. This build was also the first time I used the Mico Sol/Set solutions for the decals, never again will I apply decals without them. I used to LOATH putting on decals when I was younger. I sill have some decals to finish putting on and touch up a few areas with the marker before the final top coat.

  5. I see a lot of people buying and building the Bandai 2199 kits. Is there a common thread over at the model section where people have put up their WIP and finished models?

Yeah, is there? I just finished the anime and have the Bandai 1/1000 Yamato and 1/72 Cosmo Zero 2 in shipping from HLJ. They should be here before the weekend and I'm planning on starting on one of them this weekend. Any thing to be weary of for either kit?

  6. ......I was also very disappointed that they didn't include a plastic version of the head gun when they have been doing that for the VF-171s and VF-25s to replace the bendy PVC versions with. I had to try to straighten mine out because it was bent a little. The PVC ones are also terrible for those of us who like to clear coat our stuff.......

Check the plastic container where the Stand is. I thought the same, until I went looking for the Gunpod attachment and found the head laser right beside it.

  7. Thanks! The fact that the cockpit lights up is awesome. There aren't that many accessories, though. The Ghost comes with a katana and fabric robes, and there's a fully-articulated pilot with his own weapon, and he's clad in real fabric. And that's about it.

LOL! Yeah, I'm really wracking my brains here figuring out where to display the fig when it arrives! That thing's so huge that it's too tall for the standard shelf space of a DETOLF! I'm actually considering getting it its own pedestal!

That is one awesome Zoid! I was tempted to get one myself, but then I realize I just don't have the skill to replicate that kind of weathering. But damned if that isn't one gorgeous mech.

That cockpit really stands out to me. Between it opening up and being lit, that is just plain cool!

  8. 1/1300 Bentenmaru (from the Mouretsu Pirates anime) awaiting painting or decaling (not sure whether to paint it actually - it's molded in color, and the colors are strange mixes like a very dark burgundy and a dark pink for most of the fuselage and bits)

I looked for this kit as soon as I read this! I really liked the design of this ship and the anime. HLJ is getting a restock of the normal version in and I ordered one.
