  1. Just received the CMS Lynn Minmay figure and GN-U Dou YF-19A and got 2 Deculture decals. The decal looks nice but probably a pain to apply. Now I need to get a VF-25F since I only bought the 25S earlier from Rainbow Ten. BTW, exchange rate for US->Yen has gone up almost 10% since last month.

  2. Somehow I still think Sheryl is someone special. Maybe all she will need is purple crystal in her belly? ^_^

I am not sure Sheryl actually has the V type infection when she got picked up by Grace or Grace infected Sheryl and use her for experiment. I still don't quite get the connection with the Hydra. Did that monster go nuts because of the same virus? Why Grace transplanted the Hydra to Frontier and what does that have to do with the true terror of the Vajra?

I was also hoping Ozma would provide more info on the 117th fleet, but we got only a closer look at Ranka's mom and lot of more questions this ep...

  3. Graham, thank you for the pics. The GN-U definitely looks better than the Revolt. The exposed joints on Revolt YF-19 looks kind of bad. However. the legs of the GN-U YF-21 look a bit too chubby. Did you get the VF-11? Can you take/post some pics?

BTW, I used to live by the old Post Office, very close to Tai Yuen Street. But that was 20+ years ago ^_^

Oh, physioguy, the pair looks great with the panel lines. Great job!

  4. The prototype is done by Stereolithography Apparatus (SLA). They created a CAD model and use the SLA machine to create a solid prototype by using laser to cure/create the model layer by layer in a pool of resin. Pretty neat if you see it in action.

I would say the Battroid and mode look good. The Figther mode... Hopefully it will turn out better as they refine the model.

  5. I have not seen Ep 6 yet, but I am really discouraged from hearing the poor character animation. Has anyone watched Kissdum: Engage Planet which was also produced by Satelight? Shoji Kawamori did the mechanic design. The first 2 or 3 ep were great, from then on the characters were drawn so poorly that it was unwatchable. I was worry when I first found out Satelight was doing MF. I really hope SK or Big West will fix this.

  6. Don't mean to open the can of worm (oh, maybe yes ^_^ ). Since the Gnerl already includes a pilot, I hope it would not take too much work to modify it to fit in a Regult. Is it possible to open a poll to see if we have enough interest for the Regult pilot?

  7. I might be interested in making a 1/72 pilot set available if there was demand. Check my sig to see what was done with 1/72 scale for another series...

I am definitely interested in some 1/72 pilot.

BTW, I just received my 1D from HLJ today.

  8. yellowlightman is a great seller. I am surprised he is not already in the SS list on page 1. I just bought a Japanese Macross PS2 game, UN Spacy Flag window cling , and Atelier Sai Proto Garland from him. Got PMs for confirmation, payment and tracking info. Quick shipping too. Thanks! ^_^

  9. I ordered 1 box of vol 1 and 2 from hlj on Tue, got a payment notice late last nigtht and paid through paypal this morning. Hopefully it will be shipped soon. I paid ~$105 shipped for both.

There is guy in hkml (a Chinese model forum) stripped, detailed and repainted a 1S Strike and a 1J. He even built a launch arm for the 1S. It is amazing. If I didn't read the title, I would have thought they are models not repainted toys. Not that I would mod them like he did, but seeing his Valks made me bought both vol 1 and 2.

  10. There is actually a legit Hong Kong DVD version of DYRL. I bought it when I first came out on 1999. It was distributed by Panorama Distribution Company. It has Japanese, Mandarin and 2 Cantonese (one AC3 5.1) audio. The picture quality is pretty good. I don't have a FX version (I bought one but it turned out to be a fake  ), so I don't know the PQ is any better. The DVD version is pretty much impossible to find. The good news is that the VCD version of this DYRL is still available in yesasia for just $5.99, but it only has Japanese and Cantonese audio:

    Hope this help :)

  11. I've used the laser decal paper (transparent and white) from Beldecal. http://www.beldecal.com/laser_paper.html

I also bought their inkjet decal paper (transparent and white) but have not tried it. I used the decal paper on a Xerox Color Phaser printer (it uses wax). The decal paper works really well. The decal is pretty thin but not as soft/flexible as the decal say from Hasegawa. So you will have to add more water and be very careful when you position the decal. You can use decal softener and decal set on it. The problem with using laser printer and inkjet is, like others mentioned, that they don't print white. Unless the places where you apply the decal are in very light or white color, the color of the decal is not going to show up well. If the pattern of the decal is of a regular shape or is big, you can print the decal on white decal paper then trim the decal to the shape of the pattern. You are out of luck for irregular shape (which most of the time they are) though.

If you are serious about making your own decal, you should look into getting an ALPS printer and stock up on the supplies while you still can (and also hope your ALPS printer does not break).

    [Edit]

Another option is look for someone to make custom decal. You can try Samuel Decal. http://www.samueldecal.com/

I have NOT used their decals, but have heard a lot of good comments in a couple of other modeling forums.

    Good luck.

  12. p.s. I've already been caught with overspray a few times - and I don't mean with an airbrush! ;-)

I don't know what kind of overspray problem your kit has. I guess you can't be cheap with masking tape (diaper). Change it often. I have other overspray problem with my 1st kit (boy). The kit tended to fire its weapon as soon as the masking tape is removed. What I've learned is to just loosen up the masking tape slightly, wait a few second before opening the masking tape completely.
