So that was her eh?... Some friends and I were on the way to McDonalds when they were shooting that (Downtown Vancouver BTW) and asumed it wasn't her (just didn't look like her to us, but then again what do we know? )... Cool, that makes the second celeb sighting for me, the first being wesley snipes shooting Blade 3.... Go Vancouver!

Custom....1/48 hands? Maybe.... Depends how well the prototypes go (not sure when I'll be getting around to actually making some) and how much of a pain they would be to reproduce (ie. cast), but ya there's a possiblity there might be some "Crazy Canuck 1/48 poseable custom hands" and they'll even come in spiffy film containers just like my heads did.

Great news!!. Thanks again Aztek... Say any chance I could include another measuerment? I need to know the width of the forearm opening (or the hatch for that matter) which the hands pass through when rotating them into the stored position. Thanks

I too may be venturing into poseable custom hands.... By any chance could you post a link to the cwmodel's HobbyFan threads about articulated hand of which you spoke? Now that I've got the reference I need for the VF-1 DYRL style hands, I'm thinking about how to go about making them. My biggest problem is since I don't have a 1/48 available I don't even know how big of a hand I'm even talking about. What I really need are some basic demensions.... If anyone wants to help please refer to this thread: DYRL style hands Anyway, I look forward to seeing how your ideas develop.

I'm still looking for some help ... Right now I'm in more need of the basic dimensions of the 1/48 hand, since with out those I don't even know what size hand I'm dealing with, so here's another pic (this time an acutal 1/48 hand) of the parts I need measurments for (in order of importance). I hadn't thought of that..... But, I'm not to sure how usefull they would be since I'm planning on scratch building a set of poseable DYRL hands that look a little nicer than the current 1/48. Idealy I want them to be poseable, bigger and still work with the transformation. However since I've yet to even see a 1/48 in person, let alone handled one. I'm not sure how difficult it's going to be, but for now I'm just concidering designs, hence my need for accurate pics as well as the current 1/48 hand measurments.

I have another favor to ask..... Since my 1/48 VF-1S is with all my other stuff (in fact I've never even set eyes on it ) I was wondering if someone could take some hand measurements for me? I would like to fill in the following: (red=minimum black=bonus) BTW, In case no one guessed, I'm thinking about exparimenting with some custom 1/48 DYRL hands.

Good point, but unfortunatly right now all my Macross stuff (and pretty much everything else) is on the other side of the country, so my only resource is the Internet... Hence my asking for your guys help.

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knows of a site that has pics the vf-1 DYRL style hand seen in the Macross design works, or something that shows it in similar detail? If not, perhapses someone would be so kind as to post pics here? Thanks in advance.

It's possible Yamato was always planning on making the J, but those pics are not the proof, since the top half of the page is the Hasegawa battroid, not the Yamato 1/48. As for the YF-21.... From the looks of it that's a Hasegawa as well. (not sure though)

Very cool sculpt.... But according to palisades this was actully done in 3D, which means what we're seeing could be a 3D render (which I think it is) not a real life copy Just something to think about.

Here's a thought on how to fix/strengthen the backpack connector. It will require some light surgery, but all in all, nothing radical. The idea is to glue one of those thin metal strips you can get a hobby stores (steel, aluminum, brass,etc) to the side of the connector. Since just adding the strip won't really help, you'll need to make a slot for the metal strip, so it's firmly anchored to the base of the connector. once in place some light putty, sanding and painting should hide things just fine. Check out the below pic for a better explanation.

I say bring them all on, including the destroid predicessor (sp?) as seen in Mac 0.
