  1. Robotech got me into anime... and Macross...

    For that, I am grateful.

Astro Boy, Speed Racer, StarBlazers and Battle of the Planets got me into anime.

Robotech was just one of a long stream of anime shows that aired once in my area in a 6:00am timeslot (perfect for kiddies getting ready for school) and were never seen again afterwards.

Yup, a Star Blazers-child meeself. :D Then onto Battle of the PLanets , Force Five and then......

    WHAM!!!!

....wake up one morning to find Robotech's opening credits  ,

get my brother out of bed, and we both see an Armored Valk takin' out a Bug-Eye.w00t.gif

    Pure Bliss!wub.gif

Don't particularly care WHO gets WHAT award.

All I know is that whoever or whatever entity that brought Robotech to my house that morning gets a "thanks" from me. B))

  2. Even more info at these pages:

    http://dougram.battletechnology.org/Dougra...delsAndToys.htm

    http://www.gamepile.com/game09.html

    Apparently published by Takara.

And in researching the Tsukuda games, I found to my surprise that they've done a LOT of scifi games, including Star Trek, Star Wars, ORGUSS, and MOSPEADA!

Now I've found another reason to learn Japanese.

    Great links!!

Wish I had seen these prior to my post......would've saved me some blisters. :p

I also like the custom rules and counters....thanks again!

  3. You can look over at ToyboxDX for the pics below - I only own Stanrey. While I've only attempted to play this a couple times a few years ago (I can't seem to get my wife to play this game :p ), it's pretty basic. (Now i'm going strictly from memory here, so be nice...)

There are over 20 scaled metal miniatures of the Dougram mecha, over a dozen scaled plastic trees, 2 small periscopes, a die, and the hexed-grid cardboard sheets. You set up the sheets, each person picks a side - "Fang of the Sun" guerillas or the Earth Federation. You then split up the trees and you can place them where you'd ilke on the board and then position your mecha behind a starting line.

Play envolves each player moving or initaiting combat on their turn with the die used for whether your are successful or not. You then roll for damage and so on. The usual limitations are in place for each type of mecha: Movement of certain terrains, distance per turn, Weapon Range, armor, etc.....

The fun part is the periscopes. When you move your unit to a spot within firing range of an adversary and there's a tree and/or damaged mecha between you and your target, you place the periscope in the same grid and same orientation to get a "pilot's eye" view if you can actually take the shot. Sometimes a shoulder is sticking out behind a tree and you're able to shoot, but if blocked you have to wait to move again. (you can see a graphic of this on the Kalnock pic below.)

Although I'm not a heavy-gamer, I may not be a good reviewer, but I thought it was pretty good to play and not too complicated. Would be pretty nice having some Monsters, Glaugs, and so forth roaming around in 3-D. :D

  4. Miniatures are almost never included.

That's too bad as some metal miniatures of Destroids and Regults/Glaugs along with the 1st-person view periscopes like the Dougram games would have be fun for some land battles.

  5. I hate them all.  They should use the original movie posters.

Yeah, I also think the posters should be on there,

but there probably waiting to use those when they release the original versions on DVD after Ep. III. ;) ('cuz you know they will, although no one will admit it. :p )

As far as the above are concerned, you know they're going to flood the shelves with multiple versions to squeeze what they can from the "gotta-have-all-SW-stuff" croud. Which leaves a bunch of choices for us common-folk. :D

  6. Who's the joker who voted for the Quel-Quallie? If it were done in 1/60, it'd be almost 7 feet long!

    :lol::lol:

    ** read as INFOMERCIAL***

    Yamato's first 1/60 PLAYSET - the Quel-Quallie !!

Now you're able to re-enact your favorite scenes, especially the only episodic appearance of the VF-1J/GBP-1S Armored Valkyrie!!

The "Bug-Eye" is able to be removed so Hikaru can "blow his armor" and "come on in"!!

Not only is this a playset, but it is also a carry case for your 1/60 Valkyries (not included).

  7. Looks like he linked it to a Yahoo-Japan auction with 3-days to go (as of this post) 2000 Yen.

Graham's got a PIC of the cardboard pieces....does this game come with plastic figs, too?

Wish they made a Macross Game similar to my Dougram:Battle of Stanrey.

  8. isn't that the pic that the higher powers asked us not to post?

If the *is* a beta pic of the new YF-19 fp, I'm pretty happy.

The original YF-19 is the toy that got me back into collecting toys and I'd love to have a sleeker version to display next to my 1/48 VF-1's.

The Sith Lords don't want us posting that pic? :( If they want me to take it down then it'll be gone. Must not upset them or I'll feel the power of the darkside.

Yeah, that pic was brought down mighty qucikly.

I'd PM the "Lords" before posting so as not to incur any wrath!!!icon5.gif

  9. I actually hit the Regult button, but am torn between those and the N-Ger (movie).

Athough the Kai version from MacPlus would be even sweeter......pics by MAHQ

    TVnousjadeul-ger.jpgMOVIEnousjadeul-ger.jpgMac+nousjadeul-ger-kai.jpg

Besides a 1/60 Kamjin arcticulated figure to be included with the Monster so he can "ride 'em cowboy".....

I also think a nice idea for a REGULT set, although this will result in a huge box as well as $$$$, would be a "one-for-all" method.

In one box you'd get the following:

-- TACTICAL POD REGULT (Pod Unit w/ removeable legs & removeable small-bore lasers on top)

-- TACTICAL SCOUT (Pod Unit ONLY able to be attached to legs a la Destroid Conversion Kit ;) )

    Accessories:

-- Sensor Unit (for attachment to Scout only)

-- Light-Missle Unit (switchable with removeable top lasers - Tactical Pod)

-- Heavy-Missle Unit (switchable with removeable top lasers - Tactical Pod)

    -- Pilot ???

OR they could be packaged separately like the Super/Strike kits:

Box 1 -- TACTICAL POD REGULT

Box 2 -- POD Conversion Kit - (SCOUT pod Unit without legs and w/ sensor, Light-Missle Unit, and Heavy Missle Unit)

This idea would be helpful to those who would like a squad of Regults without the price of getting all modes at once.

Check some other takes here at the older Non-Valk Wish list thread

  10. Yeah, there's been trouble lately. I usually check there multiple times a week for any updates and sometimes I get through -- sometimes I don't. Usually this occurs just before a new entry, but this server problem is new.

I also wish they were adding more reviews, but I guess you can't add what isn't submitted, right? Anyway, I'm one of those "list freaks" where I like to keep a list of what's been released or is on the way. Of course, Fantoysia does an excellent job of this, but like I said, I got an issue of making my own checklists of the toys/models I will never have :( .

  11. The DX Musha Gundamcloth Mk-II was already a reissue of sorts for the DX Gundam Mk-II. You can also look for the ridiculously large Korean bootleg of the DX Mk-II by Academy. A perfect, high quality scaled-up repro of the toy.

A very nice piece, indeed. I guess it could be the "chunky monkey" of Gundam?

Below is a pic behind some DX MSiAs, 1/60 F-91, MG RX-93 & Sazabi, and MSiAs at the bottom for size reference. I believe the scale of the Academy is around 1:43. There is also the General Marshal verison with Musha Armor.

    Gundam1.jpg

You may now return to your regularly scheduled thread. ;)

  12. If I were to choose 1 toy, yes it would be the 1/48

But the 1/60's are probably gonna be the most elaborate

with the Q-rau, and the monster, chances are were gonna see more

the 1/60's are still cool, especially if you want a collection

    Ditto.

Where I do not have enough cash to get multiple 1/48s, I would rather spend that money on gathering the 1/60s (also 1/72s).

I can (hopefully) then have a greater amount of vehicles in replicating many different models from the movies and TV series.

I mean, look at all of these and what may be coming.....

    1. VF-1A Valkyrie (Hikaru Ichijo's Custom)

    2. VF-1S Valkyrie (Roy Fokker's Custom)

    3. VF-1A Valkyrie (Max Jenius' Custom)

    4. VF-1A Valkyrie (Production) (TRU Japan)

    5. VF-1A Valkyrie (Production)

    6. VF-1J Super Valkyrie (Hikaru Ichijo's Custom)

    7. VF-1S Strike Valkyrie (Roy Fokker's Custom)

    8. VF-1J Super Valkyrie (Max Jenius' Custom)

    9. VF-1J Super Valkyrie (Millia Fallyna Jenius' Custom)

    10. VF-1D Valkyrie

    11. VE-1 ELINT Seeker

    12. VT-1 Super Ostrich

    13. Queadluun-Rau (Millia Fallyna's Custom)

    ON THE WAY / Possibles.....

    14. VF-1J Armored Valkyrie (Hikaru Ichijo's Custom)

    15. GBP-1S Armor

    16. Queadluun-Rau (Max Jenius' Custom) ???

    17. Queadluun-Rau (Production) ???

    18. Queadluun-Rau (Production- TV) ??? VERY HOPEFUL!!

    19. HWR-00-Mk.II Monster ????

Although I would like to have a 1/48 at some point as a centerpiece, at this point in time I would like to take advantage of anyone who would like to cheaply sell their '60s and '72s to get $$$ for their '48 obsession. ;)

  13. ...I would understand the price and buy it up quick... but it has been scaled down (look at Graham's comparison pics, and read how scale is not listed) .....

    Too true.

The sculpt in the Aug-03 DH magazine is much taller. SEE HERE

  14. Nice review and pics.

BTW, Excellent idea displaying that Banpresto Miria figure in front!!

Unfamiliar with that figure series, but excellent idea. (did I already say that?!? :p )

Found this link from an old Twin Moons post for a size comparison.

It appears to have been adjusted by MW member ewilen:D

(BTW, I like the ability to "click and drag" them around the chart...nice touch!!)

Thanks...most of the work was done by Jeff Russel...to whom I'm also grateful for permission to use his images and layout. (He did the "paper doll trick", not me.) I just resized the mecha, tossed out the non-Macross stuff, did a little relabelling, and drew the Zentradi...need to clean him up a bit one of these days.

There's a bit of ambiguity about the measuring points for calculating scale, so there's a different version at http://www.sonic.net/~ewilen/Macross/scale...izes/index.html

Also, Jeff's original is here--using still different size data.

Yikes!!! You can have some serious fun with Jeff's site!

a Battlestar vs. the Macross vs. a Star Destroyer vs. a Zentradi flagship vs. a Super Star Destroyer !!! EGADS!!!

But seriously, thanks for the info!! :D

    Q-Rau

nice link but it reminds me of playing with paper dolls

    SO?!?!? :D:p:lol:

    GET IT ....

    $599 HKD

    totally disappointed   :(

    picture upload later~!!!!!!

    Uh-oh!! :huh::(

Well, here's the pic from a long long time ago,

but I'm sure Graham will have actual product comparison photos.....wink-wink, nudge-nudge :D

The -1S' shoulder is just about at or under the kneecap where the -1S above looks taller. The pic above --- photochopped?
