The lower part of the plate connect the legs swing bar does have a - shaped lock, you should hear a click if it locks in place to the lower back. And with both the back pack locks in place, the battroid should be solid enough, only the legs swing bar may not lock in place when it is lifted.

Finally transformed mine, took an hour all told for the three modes. Can't hold a candle to Yamato's VF-19S as a toy. Fiddly as heck and stuff' are not locking, might be me not transforming it properly though. Now I'm actually apprehensive about transforming it back to fighter mode, which is by far my fav mode..

Bandai had official additional instructions about the transformation of this IQ brick, its only in Japanese but they had a link to YouTube that shows an incomplete transformation tutorial video.

Bandai have official photo for the CF armor pack. I think CF looks better without the amour, its body color makes the amour less standout than on Alto's.

Just minor change like ball jointed thumb, and the grey plate on chest changed shape that will not block the transformation. Also I feel the lockings on this CF is a bit better than that on Alto's, and this makes the transformation a bit easier than the Alto's 171 EX.

Get this bird eventually, once want to skip this one. Glad this one had some minor improvement over Alto's 171EX
