  1. i might have been a bit over enthusiastic, since technically, it still needs to go through the review process, but there is an official comment of support from the LEGO CUUSOO team on the vf page. there are also links to a youtube movie of the transformation and a ton more pict on flickr of different variants.

    give some support!

  2. Dan,

For what it's worth, here's the orthos of my old model. I'm sure your solutions to the proportion issues will blow mine away (it's been a few years and I can see many things I'd've done differently!) but might make for an interesting discussion point nonetheless

Doktor Gonzo, nice model - it's definitely one of the best looking battloid I've seen. You did a great job with the proportion issues (something I am also struggling with). I'd love to see more renders of your model. Do you have an online gallery somewhere?

  3. Thanks!

Right now the main bottle neck for the project is me. I am not quite sure what to do. Another clone of Ace Combat or HAWXs does not make much sense to me. I need to figure out the concept of the game more firmly, I have few ideas. Once this is done I will go back and aks for help one more time. And I hope that would be the last one till the game is done.

THanks for all support. The project is and will be continued.

If you are looking for a unique gametype perfect for Macross, I suggest a Guitar Hero/Rock band type game using the plastic guitars. I mention this in the games forum and it's best suited for Macross 7 but could work for any of the series. You would play FireBomber Music with the guitar, but instead of a music video on screen, it would show a battle/fight sequence that would reflect how well you are playing. Like when you miss a note you get hit by a missile. And you could have multiplayer where the other people are playing a regular space shooter as diamond squadron.

Kinda wacky, but that would be my dream Macross game :)

  4. Dan, keeps looking better and better. Definitely inspirational work.

And that SDF-1 model is pretty terrific. Most SDF-1 I see are the DYRL versions but I prefer the TV one. His VFs are pretty good too. Too bad he seems to have disappeared. That's why it would be great to have a site that had all the macross meshes available. hate to see good work go to waste.

  5. Here is a WIP of the Atmospheric Escape Booster. The lines on the main booster parts aren't as clean after I started cutting in for the detailing, I may redo it, but thought I would post what I have so far... also I had some problems with the spacing of the boosters so the huge nozzles don't intersect while still keeping the legs in the right placement. I wish I had better reference.

  6. Finally got the Variable Fighter Master File books (thanks amazon.co.jp) and there is definitely a lot I have to fix with my models, esp the GBP armor. I can't believe I'd gone so long without these. I can't recommend it enough (both volumes). I only wish they had good reference for the Atmospheric-escape Booster. If anyone has scans for the instruction manual for that model kit I would really like to get my hands on that.

  7. Oh man. Is there a MODO to Max workflow?!

The easiest way is for me to export the model in Lightwave format (.lwo) and you can import that into 3ds Max. The UVs still aren't set up but I can send you a sample to see home it imports if you are interested. Just pm me your email.

Looking real good! I believe this is the 1st time I am looking at a fan render of a GBP-1, and it looks really nice too!

BlueMax, where did you get your icon from? It looks like a modified version of some artwork I did a looong time ago for my Macross fansite at http://www.tipatat.com/macross . I also did a GBP-1 back then too.

Now I have to do the S head that I have been putting off...

David - thanks for the suggestions. I just ordered the Master File books and will redo the landing gear with the better references and your suggestions.

Chillyche - here is some rough poly count info:

This Strike Armor variant is at about 65k polys (mostly sub-D)

The Heavy Armor GBP with missiles is around 164k polys (mostly sub-D)
