Anyone saw this? It looks like they tried to copy Sentinel's idea, but looks much worst

I LITERALLY LITERALLY got Riobot Stick and Hoquette in like, last week.  Dammit.  This thing looks like pure sex.  Yes I know it's Toynami, but MOSHOW is amazing now, and personally this design appeals to me fiercely.  Hopefully it doesn't impact the Riobot prices too much for resale (although my Stick and Yellow already have the cracked struts issue).

  2. I've got to say i've been having some pretty bad luck with my Metal Robot Damashii figures lately.  A piece on my Bael broke off the other day, and prior to that, the very fragile plastic hinge on the backpack connector for the Akatsuki funnels also broke off.  I'm past the point where I ham-hands stuff now, so I was horrified when both happened.  Nothing crazy glue can't fix in both cases, but very disappointing.  I'm also noticing that the joints on a lot of my MRD's, particularly the real type Knight Gundams, have become extremely loose over time from nothing but sitting in a detolf.

  3. Spoiler

Great episode!  It really tugged on the heartstrings, seeing hope for Pike and then realizing that it couldn't happen.  It took me a minute to figure out they were purposefully mimicking the dialogue, directing and visual style of the TOS episode, which I loved.   Also Scotty!  One thing though, now that Pike knows he shouldn't have hesitated to blast the Romulans, couldn't he have just done that and still sent the letter?  Or would Spock still croak?

Not to be a stickler, but the Farragut was one of the 12 Constitution class starships that were made, so she should have looked like the Enterprise.  I wonder if the producers got the Peregrine and the Farragut names mixed up in post?  For a series that is so intent on sticking to continuity it's a pretty big miss imho.  I loved the Farragut design though.

Finally, I really appreciate the tough challenge Paul Wesley had, and he did a decent job, but every time I saw him on screen I was reminded of this:

He just does not give off a Kirk vibe.  Chris Pine was a way better casting decision, and I wasn't even that sold on him to begin with.  I wish they could have gotten someone to look more like a young Shatner.  I know he's supposed to show up in Season 2, but I really can't see him as James T. Kirk, and I don't think there's anything he can do to change my mind sadly.

  4. I'm probably going to get both of these.  I had sold off my entire MASK collection when I realized that keeping vintage toys around was just a disaster waiting to happen as they degrade over time.

That said, if this is just a nearly straight-up redo of the vintage Thunderhawk, i'm not sure I see the point of it.  The Shark as a gap-filler I can understand.  To be honest, I kind of wish they had made these in  3 3/4 scale, since i've always wanted to have my Joe's interact with MASK.  I get it would have made things a lot more expensive, but it would have been neat.

    Pretty much that.

No easy way to remove it.  And no one’s really made a 3D print of the part (at least on these boards).

Darn, I was hoping by this point someomeone would have done some Shapeways magic with it.  Thanks for the update!

  6. Welp, some Kiki and a sliver of silicone in the ball joints of each leg socket have seemed to fix things up for my copy.  What I found interesting is that when I disassembled the leg, the ball joint looked to be a brass color.  Weird.

Anyway, my other question is in regards to the head - the neck area doesn't really seem to peg into anything in battroid mode - is that normal for the 25s?  The entire setup feels kind of floppy, and the neck doesn't seem to extend as far as the promo images make it seem.

  7. Well, my release has some pretty floppy legs in battloid mode.  Even with the extra screws.  I guess I need to open them up and see about fixing them somehow.  The shoulders aren't too bad, but I get the sense they'll get loose relatively quickly.  Also Bandai forgot to paint in the little black circles on the left shoulder of the figure, which seems like a weird qc miss. It makes me question why I bothered waiting for this release instead of just getting a used Renewal version.  I will say though that the matte color scheme is very nice.

Anyway, if this is supposed to represent a new, world-wide Macross future, it's certainly started off with a wet fart.   I mean, they want people to buy more of their products after this right?  I'm actually more annoyed about this figure than I am with the 31ax's, because at least those get the basics right, even if some of the tolerances are off.

  8. So halfway through, this series is a bit of a mixed-bag for me.  I get everyone's arguments, and I think (as others have pointed out), the script and filming could have used one more pass or so to polish it up.  Things like Leia being able to escape the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Obi-Wan so easily, Reva parkouring over half the city to reach a place that was literally only a few minutes away, yet next episode magically teleporting ahead of Leia in the escape tunnel are frustrating.  Vader using the Force to levitate Obi-Wan and put out the fire and then seemingly forgetting he was able to do both of those things literally less than 30 seconds later are downright inexcusable.  Letting that rebel lady get off a second shot after taking so long from the first one.  I really don't understand - who are these people who are scripting these things?  Stuff that seems head-slappingly obvious to me somehow got missed by the writers, the director, the actors and the editors?  I *know* i'm not a smart guy - i'm average at best, but more and more I walk away from Disney Star Wars feeling like i'm some sort of genius or something for noticing what should be obvious and absolutely fatal flaws in the narrative.  Are the creatives in charge really that stupid or just lazy or both?  As I type this out I keep thinking of more inconsistencies and it's making me more irritated...

All that said, just seeing Ewan and Hayden on screen is a joy.  Hearing JEJ's voice coming out of Vader's helmet strong and powerful (not like in Rogue One) is music to my ears.  "I am what you made me" makes all the other nonsense I noted above almost worthwhile, and I feel this series actually helps explain why Obi-Wan and Vader had so little to say to each other (or surprise, on Obi-Wan's part at Vader being alive) when they met in the Death Star in ANH - they've already said what needs to be said, gotten things out of their system, and are both clearly there as adversaries with their own personal goals and missions.  I can respect that, especially if the final episodes give us a renewed and powerful Obi-Wan and a Vader who get into a slap-down, drag-out fight.

Every time this show cuts away from Obiwan and Vader, my interest levels crater.  I could give less than a singular frakk about Reva, young Leia, or really anyone else in the series besides those two.  This should have been a movie, not a TV series.

It should work, there are other methods too...

You can apply any of these to the hip ball joint:

Clear nail polish, pledge floor care finish (clear), future floor finish, or kiki fix loose joints.

Gently apply and let dry... usually 1 or 2 coats will fix the issue, since yours is new I'd go for 1. Let dry at least 2 hours but preferably leave overnight before reassembly

Thanks, I used a bit of shaved silicone from a sanitizer strap and Kiki liquid, and now they're rock solid.  Same with my Isamu YF29.  Just with there was a way to fix the rotating wing engines on the latter, but ah well.

Hi everyone! Here's my first contribution on tightening the joints. I've included the texts on the images itself. I know it's not that in-depth but just the basic stuff so that everyone can get an idea on how to start tightening theirs. And hope that's ok. I remember asking questions on how to tighten the shoulder joints on the Messiah on the VF-25 Renewal thread. And so far members answered to use superglue and if I'm not mistaken Saburo replied with a video post of the YF-29 Durandal. (I will repost that video here next time in case members have problems with the YF-29 joints.) Which when I tried to check both shoulders, they're not the same. And the joint that was fixed on the YF-29 is not the joints that I want to repair. So I dared myself to try and pry open the shoulder armor on my VF-25F. And here it goes...

    post-5552-0-04530500-1406450894_thumb.jpgpost-5552-0-67395900-1406450901_thumb.jpgpost-5552-0-01910400-1406450910_thumb.jpgpost-5552-0-27805700-1406450918_thumb.jpgpost-5552-0-30790800-1406450928_thumb.jpgpost-5552-0-94648900-1406450934_thumb.jpg

The reason why I didn't use the SuperGlue is because it can get messy and if that dries it leaves some white marks and white flaky stuff. That's why I look for an alternative first. And so far it works great. I will contribute more since I'm in the process on tightening other joints on my VF-25F Alto and YF-29 Isamu. ^_^

    Hope that helps.

I love the use of the hand sanitizer rubber!

I just got a Renewal VF-27 Lucifer and was really disappointed that the legs still swing freely in robot mode.  I was hoping the renewals would have fixed this issue...

Anyway, would this method work for the Lucifer also?

  11. Two episodes in, and I’m pleasantly surprised by SNW.  It still has its flaws (Trump caused WW3, you can’t transport someone from the Earth up to orbit but you CAN transport a liquid into someone’s right eye?), but they’ve been much more muted than I expected.  The actors for Pike, Spock and Una REALLY help sell the show and overcome the weird technical/pacing issues.  The cast seem to all be pretty likable so far, although between Una, La'an and Ortegas, we seem to have a lot of overlap of "strong, competitive, woman", and I think they'll need to differentiate their personalities a bit more in the future.  Also, i'm guessing we're all waiting for that one episode where Ortegas reveals she has a girlfriend right?  It seems pretty stereotypical.  Anyway, the return to “one-off” stories makes the show feel more authentic than anything we’ve seen since 2009.  The start of any new show is rough, but if they’ve already been able to deliver decent content, then I actually have some hope for future episodes.

One thing that struck me is that twice now they’ve hinted that Pike’s fate may not be set in stone.  I was a bit puzzled in the first episode as to why he just didn’t sit in his cabin for the rest of his life, but the explanation of him knowing that his sacrifice saves the lives of those specific cadets, and it’s something he’s committed to do, helps explain away him not running head-first into enemy fire naked screaming “I’m invincible!  I don’t die for another decade!”.   I don’t know about others, but I’d personally be fine with it if they DID have Pike change his fate and avoid getting crippled.  Sure, we’d be entering alternate universe territory but I think most fans already treat Kurtzmann-trek as one anyway, and it would show that the writers are willing to take some big risks to deviate from the expected outcome and to see what happens after.  Episode 3 is a standard “plague” episode, which have never been my favourite story trope, but let’s see how it goes.

Yesterday night, I was discussing the direction Picard has taken with a few friends on Discord and it struck me... most of new Trek's problems are because the creators are trying to turn it into something other than Star Trek.  Where I've been wrong all along is that, where Abrams was trying to turn Star Trek into Star Wars, Kurtzman et. al. are trying to turn Star Trek into Dune.

Picard season one's Qowat Milat and Zhat Vash are just halves of the Bene Gesserit.  The Qowat Milat got the Bene Gesserit's elite combatant and will-never-tell-a-lie traits, while the Zhat Vash got their ancient conspiracy pulling the strings of galactic government trait and the task of enforcing their off-brand equivalent of "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind".  The extradimensional synths are nicked from the contested prequel Legends of Dune, specifically the Omnius AIs that were taken into another universe after attempting to enslave or destroy all human life.  Discovery did the same, with the Spore Drive and Stamets basically being knockoffs of the Holtzman drive, spice, and the guild navigators, and arguably based Control on the Omnius as well.

Wow, these are very good observations.  I always had a nagging feeling that STD and Picard were being derivative of SOMETHING but I could never place what it was until I read your post.

That's the thing that BBTS is great for (and why I got this from BBTS). They have a great warranty return/replacement policy. If you get a bad copy they will replace it. If they don't have a unit to replace it with they will refund your money. I've even had them give me a deeeeeep discount to keep a unit that had a defect that they were unable to replace.

I have mine PO'd through BBTS for this reason. I'm not worried about getting stuck with a junk unit.

    You have yours alreday?

Yep!  I went over it all again with a fine tooth comb, and the only issue I noticed was some chrome flaking on the round joint of the green lion's rear feet.  Doesn't seem like enough to really complain about though.
