These prices are less than HLJ and Overdrive w/o the massive shipping costs. Wow! Just hope everything gets fulfilled.

They must have only had one each of a bunch of those, and you beat me to them by a few minutes. Well played, sir.

  3. BBTS just announced a 40% off all Macross items sales. Just picked up a Yamato 1/60 Nora SV-51 for $131.99, for instance.

Move quick, they are selling out. I was in the process of ordering V2 1/60 VT-1 and VE-1, and both sold out before I could complete my order. Prices are too good to be true!

Just went back for Gamrin VF-22S and that is now sold out too.

  4. last time i checked, i think the club m one was the most accurate. someone plz correct me if im wrong. you can get a recast here:

Actually, the completed model pics they have of the "Club-M" kit are actually photos of my Yellow Sub 1/100 model. They stole the pics from the model section of Macrossworld:

The box and parts pics are in fact the Club-M kit, though.

  5. thanks for the praise, guys :)

but that old thing? and here I was thinking of scrapping that old cockpit and starting fresh on a new one...

I still might start a new one, though. or, at least a heavily updated re-do. at the very least, I really want to make a highly optimized low-poly (high-end real time game engine quality) version (simplify the geometry, while making the texutre/spec/bump maps from the high-res version).

my ultimate goal would be to do an entire VF-1 that way. I'd love to do it all myself, if I could just find the time. a collaborative effort might be more practical (and more likely to get finished...). I'd love to put together the best of everybody's work, and just collectively tweak it into perfection. who's game?

  6. thanks :) I barely got started on anything more than that cockpit, and its been on the backburner for years now (I believe those are MAX 3 renders... ). it was seeing your guys' work here that's kicking me in the butt to get back into doing this stuff in my leisure time.

I would love to collaborate with anybody interested.

I love DatterBoy's model, and I'd love to take a crack at texturing it. if the geometry needs some optimization, that's one of my specialties, of course.

Doktor Gonzo's landing gear certainly caught my interest. that will look amazing with some texture details.

Rodavan's VF-1 model looks (did you scan a Yamato 1/48 or what?) looks rock solid. Rodavan's cockpit looks great, and actually has a lot more geometry thrown at the console buttons and knobs than mine does (mine relies more on texture, its hard to break the habits I develop at the office...). nice work!

  7. you guys have posted some REALLY nice work in here!! there's been some drastic improvement happening since I first started checking out this thread. some of you guys are doing professional grade work (and I do this stuff professionally, in the game industry).

I thought I'd throw up a couple of old renders myself. these are from a model I got started on a couple of years ago, while I had time off between jobs, but I never really got past the cockpit:

  8. I haven't seen it mentioned in any of these threads, but you can set colors (and they are saved) for each of the base VF-1 models, from the options screen.

this allows you to, for example, set the color of the default VF-1S to red, and have Hikaru's DYRL VF-1S. the unlockable specific character VFs are done this way. you can even try out new colors that don't match anybody, or set the colors to gray for more of a low-vis look.

on the CF style VF-1A, you can change the entire tan portion to any color.

the only ones you couldn't do would be Max and Miria's VF-1J (set the color on the VF-1J to red, and you get Hikaru's though), and Max's TV VF-1A.
