  1. Windmill Gundam....Closes all arguments about G-Gundam true awfulness.

Shining Gundam is, by far, the greatest thing to happen to Gundam since.....well Gundam :)

And hey, Windmill Gundam is at least bioefficient!

OT: Let's stalk talking about random tangential arguments about elitism, and let's get back to the topic at hand. I want to know what's next from Yamato/Arcadia/USS Enterprise/SDF-1, regardless of what their name is!

  2. It seems as though discussion for Age grinded to a hault during the jungle battles arc. What did you guys think about everything after and the finale? Personally I was very disappointed, so much so that I wouldn't hesitate to call it my least favorite series of the franchise (not entry though, 0080 barely hlds that title). I also didn't enjoy the FX, it just felt out of place and with Kio.... Eh, kind of ruined it for me.

I kind of started to lose track of everything by the end of it. Kio just flying through different gundams/equipment like nobody's business, random brand new Supah bad characters, interjected story arks and characters that seem out of place at best.

Honestly, Flit's story (gen1) seemed somewhat coherent, Asemu's days were alright, but when you throw Kio into the mix, and like 95 other intermittent characters from the past three generations, and their own dilemmas, things just got way too crazy, and really awkward.

To be brutally honest, this wasn't just a really really bad gundam series, it was just a really bad series *period*.

I'd never have wasted this much time watching a series had it not held the Gundam Title, and even then, I was getting weary of it by the end. I've at least enjoyed some parts of every gundam series I've watched till this.

  3. Well, most of my GFFs are stuck in a box or stuck in my parents' home... I live in a dorm as well, and having friends over now and then means its not too convenient having my GFFs/Valks on display... do you have like a closet or something you can stick it in? :)

That's just it man, I'd rather not have it sitting in a box, as it does me no good right?

I'd rather just sell it or trade it for a fig I can display.

  4. Guys, let's be honest here. You can, in no way, shape, or form, can you be called "elitist" if you like to blow tons of cash on plastic toys :p

    Us at Macrossworld:

Guy 1: Dude, I just bought like 45x VF-1 cannon fodder from yamato so I can make this awesome massive army squadron thing

Guy 2: WOW! You spent that much money on Macross? Way to be elitist by showing off all your awesome stuff

    Translation to the real world:

Guy 1: Wow, I just bought 45 VF-1 cannon fodders from Yamato!

Society: You just spent 4500 dollars on japanese plastic toys derived from an animated cartoon from the 80s <_< .....*condescending judgmental glare*
    _______________

The moral of that was that a toy collector cannot be elitist, as he is not purchasing ferraris :)

  5. Is it the regular edition or the prism coat version?

    It is the regular edition

(1006 is the number i think)

As for waiting till I move out of the dorm, i'm kinda stuck here for the next three years, so there isn't much I can do, and I'd rather not have it sitting on my shelf back in my parent's home (I wouldn't get to enjoy it, etc.).

As for changing the bulbs, since it's a university owned residential area, we are not allowing to tamper with that stuff :(

  6. Lol, I might buy like 1 Macross fig every 5 or 6 months to be honest. But it's very exciting when I actually do get one, so I tend to enjoy them to the fullest. Honestly speaking, Bandai releases are almost in the same price margins, and when you add in the Nippon Yassan inflation (see what I did there ;) ), it ends up being about the same in terms of cost.

But yeah, except for a few here that devote a lot of their monetary earnings to Macross, I think the stark majority of people here are more like me, a few limited purchases over the course of a year.

Heck, a lot of us, including me, here are poor college students (look at location :) ), so we kinda have to keep things to minimum so we can afford to go to college :D

I think I know what you are trying to say slaginpit (i.e. Yamato stuff is expensive), but they do make nice things that I can enjoy from time to time, even though I'm not in a financial position to be spending the majority of my free cash on toys.

  7. "all the lamps and lights in my small dorm room (very small room honestly) promote yellowing on white plastic"

If your bulb are the fluorescent type, it's an imperative that you get new ones! The yellowing of the plastic could be an indication that the ones you have are emitting UV radiation.

Wow, you're right, my light bulbs do look like that. I might have to look into it. I haven't really focused or picked up on it until I noticed some of my other figs have shown yellowing. I put the unicorn away, but I didn't realize there were potential health side effects.

    Thanks for the heads up!

  8. Shamless Plug:

I'm selling the GFFMC unicorn. Found out my dorm room lights cause yellowing on white plastic (from some other figs), so the unicorn is bound to follow.

Got some very fair trade options, many at a loss in terms of value, but i'd rather not see this fig go to waste in my closet. If you're in the market, check it out in the for sale thread.

  9. Hi guys,

As some of you may know, I recently got a Gundam Metal Fix figuration Unicorn, but sadly, I need to let it go, as all the lamps and lights in my small dorm room (very small room honestly) promote yellowing on white plastic (I found out by checking some of my other figures recently).

Needless to say, I can't display the unicorn anymore, so I'd like to sell or trade it to somebody who will actually use it. I have taken it out of the box (box is slightly worn), checked everything out, and put it back inside. I haven't even taken many things out of their respective plastic seals, and it hasn't gone through a single transformation.

For straight up pricing, I'm looking for $170 shipped.

For trades, I'm looking for ONE of the following:
    ___________________________________________

Either of the Fix Figuration Metal Composite Z Plus figures

Gundam Fix Figuration Psycho Gundam (either one)

    ANY renewal Bandai Macross figure

    Any metal build Gundam

A Gundam Fix Figuration Next Rezel (trader pays for both toys shipping, so I'm not completely screwing myself over :) )

Any 1/60 VF-19 from Yamato, although i'd prefer the -S or -P (I think HK collectibles has a sale on an -S right now?)

    1/60 VF-11B/C from Yamato

    1/60 SV-51/VF-0

Any Yamato 1/60 VF-1 (including VE-1, and other variants).

    _______________________________________________________

Pretty much anything else you think is of equal value or so.

As you can see, I'm a pretty flexible guy, I'd just rather not see a perfect figure get all yellow'd up.

    Thanks,
    -Archer

  10. Same here... I even screw up panel-lining, made me move more to figures and models.

Lol, I don't even care about panel lines at this point, I just want to make sure I'll be able to put it together in the first place :D

And as for the LEDs being molded into the parts, that's nice, but the "tooless" assembly is a bold claim when wiring clearly requires tools...

  11. Also try to get Gundam RX-78-2 The Origin, it's also an awesome figure.

The Gundam Origin was actually the first GFFMC that I ever purchased, and you're right, it was a very phenomenal figure. Sadly, I had to let it go a few months back :(

The origin was a lot smaller than this Unicorn though, but I guess that's due to the actual mobile suit differences than anything else :)

  12. Finally got it!! First of all, the GFFMC unicorn is a ROCK SOLID piece, save for a few armor parts that flail around. At the same time, it was SOOO tight that I abstained from transforming it for the time being. I think I'll transform it once I have more patience after my tests are completed.

Beyond that, you guys were right that it's fairly unposable, and can generally only achieve static standing poses (albeit, the joints were so tight that I didn't really experiment too much). My piece also had a bit of yellowing on the right calf piece. Beyond that though, it looks AMAZING. I'm happy I bought it for the display value alone!

  13. I mean, I guess it does have LEDs to somewhat justify the price, but they haven't been very clear as to if the LEDs are built in, or if we have to do that ourselves, and only the batteries are built in.

Regardless, I'm going with the assumption that LEDs are optional and you'll have to do the wiring yourself if you want. I know what you guys mean though, not wanting to be a guinea pig for a first run product claiming to par Bandai in terms of injection molding.

  14. If you can still buy that VF-0S or maybe the other one i would run for it, with all this drama going on who knows.

I agree with you there man! Hope this Yamato Arcadia fiasco sorts itself out soon...
