I don't know how I feel about this, I heard some ThreeZero figures had large amounts of issues with them. Would have preferred it to he Hot Toys making a 1/6 Major. But, only time will tell to see how good this is.

Hot Toys is probably too busy with its Marvel movie licenses.

Besides, HT is really bad when it comes to rubberized suits. If they made a thermoptic version fig, be prepared for possible chemical reactions or even plain old dry rot.

As for the movie itself, just going to wait for my local cable tv network to air it. The reviews dont sound promising enough to warrant the price of a ticket.

     I miss the old days.

    Ditto.

I've only bought 2 valks since Yamato's demise and have pretty much switched to throwing my money at Hot Toys' Iron Man line. Frankly, its a combination of franchise fatigue and crazy prices. MacPlus is honestly the only macross (mini)series i really liked anyway, which was the only reason i put down almost 300 usd for a vf-29 isamu custom.

As for the queston of whether its worth it...only if i really like the anime itself.

  3. from Hot Toys website:

i take this to mean that this new version will still come with an XLIII bust/upper body (just like the first version), but if one now chooses to put in a full-body XLIII then the new version design makes it possible.

i don't particularly like the XLIII so i'm definitely not getting one to pair with this HB. i wonder though if other armors will fit inside.

i lost out bidding for a rare Sheryl figure, so i suppose i'll have funds for this.

Thanks for the heads up, Major! Nice to see that HT is actually including the bust with this new one. Not that I can afford it though, what with 2 expensive pre-orders lined up already.

On a related note, I noticed that once again, they either didn't bother or just forgot to include the left forearm with the "rings" on them--the one used to trap the Hulk's arm. At the price they're asking for, an extra swappable forearm isn't that much to ask for, especially given the HB's rather sparse accessories.

  4. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the "Batfleck" suit's aesthetic--just something about the texture that I don't like. But then, I haven't watched BvS, so I might well change my mind after watching it. That said, this Knightmare fig is something I might actually put down some money for if it weren't a toy fair exclusive.

IMO the Mark 27's colors are just fugly. I personally think the Stealth Armor has the best color scheme of all the MK.VII repaints.

  5. All good! Really would have been awesome for them included a Mark 43, especially at $ 800+ but no joy.

And I feel/felt exactly the same about Captain America as a character that figure looks so cool, and while pricey, it wasn't Iron Man armor pricey so I bit the bullet.

    -b.

Truth be told, I'm also tempted to order Cap, if only to pose him fighting Tony in his Mark 46 suit. Thing is, I'd then have to get the Winter Soldier as well if and when that comes out, and I literally can't afford to open that can of Pringles. These IM suits are already brutal enough to my wallet as it is. Believe it or not, I held out on buying an Iron Man fig for 8 whole years since HT released the first MK.III, knowing it's basically collector's quicksand.

I hate being right, in this particular case.

  6. If only it included Mark 43, I'd bite the ridiculous financial bullet for that, but Tag Hobby says it's not included. :(

I also want Iron Man Mark 46, I cancelled my preorder with Sideshow in anticipation of the Civil War armor. But I'm playing the waiting game on that one.

    And I'm soooooo excited - my promo Captain America from Civil War will be shipping this Friday or very soon thereafter;

    Happy, Happy!

    D'oh, didn't notice that!

In that case, the only advantage this one has over this first version is if you already have the Mark 43. Actually, this new gimmick kind of works against itself, seeing as you're now left without a separate Mark 43 to display when you've got it "Russian dolled" into the Hulkbuster. In that sense, the first version HB gives more bang for your buck.

I was never into Captain America, but that is one awesome fig. B))

  7. crap's going to hit the fan.

The North is united under Jon Snow but they have dire threats to deal with. The funny thing is I don't think Jon wanted kingship, but there he is, sort of thrust upon him like it did Robb Stark way back in Season 1.

It was a great moment seeing Tyrion get recognized by someone who truly appreciates his mind and counsel being named Hand of the Queen.

Cersei's madness destroyed the Faith Militant, High Sparrow, destroyed the future of House Tyrell. Yet that stupid move destroyed the Tyrell-Lannister alliance, led to her last child committing suicide. Wouldn't she have not realized that would be a danger for Tommen? Didn't she know Tommen truly loved Margaery? I had always believed in the books and TV show, Cersei didn't know how to use her power properly, settling for pettiness. She sits on the Iron Throne but has isolated House Lannister from all past allies.

High Garden is being run now by the sharp Queen of Thrones and not her buffoon son, Mace Tyrell. She wants vengeance.

Dorne is being run by people with a burning hatred of the Lannisters and do not hide that disposition.

Then comes in Lord Varys promising, "Fire and Blood." I cannot tell you how happy I was to hear that. Daenerys is on her way with an alliance set up with Asha and Theon Greyjoy, their ships and men. She's hauling with her her Unsullied, the Dothraki braving the sea, her trusted followers to include Hand of the Queen Tyrion Lannister, and of course, 3 frakking dragons. She will be landing likely in Dorne to the open arms of the Martells and Tyrells thanks to Varys setting everything up.

Meanwhile, I want to repeat now Queen Cersei has isolated the Iron Throne and House Lannister from every major power player in the Seven Kingdoms. The North remembers. She has made bitter enemies of the Tyrells. The Martells want nothing but Lannister blood to spill for old grudges since Elia Martell's rape and murder, the killing of her children. The fact that traditional, hated rivals the Tyrells and Martells allied together against the Iron Throne and Lannisters is an amazingly stupid feat. One can imagine Jaime Lannister's horror on finding the burning ruins and getting word of what's been going on. He goes away to settle military matters, and finds his son and king dead, the Tyrells enemies, and Cersei smugly sitting on the throne.

Jaime: "WTH is going on in this place? Madness!"

Oh... And Arya Stark is now going to personally work on her list. So much has happened and I can't wait to see what goes on when it resumes.

The problem with Cersei is that she's not nearly as smart as she thinks she is. She's got some of the signature Lannister cunning, but not a lot, which makes for a very dangerous cocktail. Every apparent victory she gains just feeds her ego and overconfidence. It'll only sets her up for a longer fall, the higher she climbs.

  8. He's there to tell everyone that he knows how to make a good movie, but I hope no one listens.

All the live action movies and a good majority of his animated stuff has been terrible or boring or both.

I can't really comment on Oshii one way or the other. The only movies of his that I watched were the 2 GitS movie. Loved the first one, indifferent towards the sequel. He loves philosophical moping, so if you're not into that kind of stuff, it gets dull really fast.

  9. I had Thunderhawk, Firefly, Piranha, Raven and T-Bob--a friend of mine had Manta, or whatever that purple convertible with the redhead chick was called. Those reviews sure bring back some nice childhood memories.

I hear that Hasbro is planning something with the MASK name in the near future?

Pray that Bay keeps his grubby hands away from it.

  10. Well played, HIgh Sparrow.

Riverrun was anticlimactic, and a bit of a cop out. Didn't expect some stupidly loyal second-in-command to just hand the castle over at Edmure's command. Didn't hear him complain in the last episode when The Blackfish told them they can kill Edmure for all he cared.

Can't wait or next week. Although, knowing Martin, he'll probably give the damn Boltons the victory just to make you rage.
