  2. I just wish we had better pictures of this credit card valk. It looks very plain, but the pictures are so small. Oh well, if anyone has the "completist" bug, at least this scheme should be pretty easy to reproduce. I wonder if it came with any kind of special packaging or a certificate of authenticity or anything of the like?

Cool! We basically have the same collection. I see you're missing the M&M's. I have Miria, but am missing Max as well. Good thing they're finally being reissued :D

  4. Looks like I'm in the minority. I kind of like 'em. Well, the VF-1 at least. I guess I'm just a sucker for the VF-1. Sure it's not the BEST looking VF-1 repaint, but I'd buy one if it was released. I just wish it was a 1S and not a 1J, that's my only real complaint.

  5. Thanks. I've been trying to convince Chris that we need to have another paint session to make the stripes red. :D

And a red visor. It just doesn't look like Jetfire without a red visor :D j/k Really awesome work.

    EDIT: Spelling. Doh!!

  6. good point. actually, now that I think about it, the star wars comics and books are like this. they're supposed to take place in the same universe and have introduced all sorts of things... things that lucas uses or disregards at whim in his movies. So what is canon and what is not? the books that preceeded the prequels but are contradicted in the movies? Or the movies, that the creator of the universe makes?

Granted, Kawamori wasn't the singular creator of macross in the way lucas is with star wars... but he is the defacto figurehead for the series.

You're exactly right about the SW books and comics. They get the blessing of Lucas Arts, but they are not considered canon. George Lucas has said that the only things that are canon are the movies. I'm guessing the upcoming TV series will be considered canon since he is involved, but I'm not certain.

  7. so... if I were to produce a star wars movie, without the approval of lucas, you would accept it as canon? is that what you're saying? let's say I place the movie between ep 3 and 4... and let's say I include scenes that completely contradict events in ep 4. you would still accept this right?

I see your point, but its not quite the same. MacII is still a Big West production, its just that SK wasn't involved. For your example to be more applicable, you would have to have produced the new movie with the consent/backing from Lucas Arts but without the involvement of George himself.

  8. That is very fortunate of you indeed. did you order directly from them o via amazon?

Oh don't make it sound like he just got lucky. I've ordered about 8 1/48 valks, a couple of 1/60 valks, two 1/48 GBP armor sets, and numerous other non-Macross items from tisinc99.com and have never once had a single issue with them. I'm not saying others here haven't had their problems, but I do think its a small vocal group that tends to paint this picture that they're (tisinc99.com) some awful shop out to rip us all off, and I just don't think that's the case
