  1. I'm very fond of the VF-25F, my only one from the series to date but I intend on getting the other 3 in due course. I'm particularly partial to the heaviness and the weapons. Love the dagger of the Alto and the elegance of its robot mode. Very modern and lots of flair. The Super armour is the best imo the white is actual white unlike the fading whites on Yamato's VF-1Ss. The only thing I don't like about them as others have mentioned is the easiness w/ which you might scratch them and the stands aren't very elegant.

Also, check out the reviews in Peaugh's threads. He's a great reviewer and watching his reviews will probably help you decide

  2. Anyone has idea on whether they are going to release a VF-25S?

I want it very badly. I want Luca too for the Skull squad, but I need the 25S worse.

No idea but plus one. I've got the two already released, just want the other two now. :(

  3. I am confused, Bandai apparently makes two different versions of 1/100 scale VF-25’s.

What is the difference between the these two

    - “Bandai VF-100 line of Macross Valkyires” VF-25G Super Messiah Valkyire used by Micheal

    - “Bandai Macross Frontier - Robot Damashii” VF-25G Super Messiah Valkyire used by Micheal

I am trying to make a decision on which 1/100 scale VF-25’s to buy any info would be appreciated.

I believe the former is actually transformable whereas the latter is not. I did a fair bit of research b/c I was facing the same dilemma awhile back now when I couldn't decide which of the VF-25Fs to buy between the two lines. I settled for the Robot Damashii b/c of superior articulation, balance and durability. The VF-100 is a bit of a partsformer and I'd prefer to stick to the DX if I really wanted something transformable. I'm a bit anti-parts though which is another reason I avoided the VF-100. Ultimately depends on what you're looking for though. I love the VF-25s and their robot look and I'm satisfied with my DX so I don't need a partsformer transformer.

  4. Personally I can't see what's all the complaining about. I'm quite fond of the VF-25F. I received mine earlier this week and in love with it. Sure the Super armour limits some articulation in the legs but it's still quite a magnificent looking piece as opposed to the retro looks of the VF-1S/A/J

The Tornado armour looks a bit plain gray is the only quibble I have. Hopefully there are more paint apps as we progress along.

Other than that, I think it looks sweet. Will it come with the VF-25F as well or just the armour? I don't mind having a spare.

  5. by the way, has anybody tried moving the head lasers on the VF-25? the box art shows a picture with them pointing at a higher angle than the actual default setting, my guess is that it cannot really move, anybody tried it yet?

I tried just now but didn't want to push it any further b/c it didn't seem to be budging.

I'm also very impressed by the RD VF-25F. Love the armour and the solidity of the figured. The poseability is great and I love the look and feel of it. My only quibble is that the back heels don't articulate, only the front of the foot. But in all, it's a very lovely figure and the eyes are great as they really catch the light.

  6. Hi there, just wondering if there's anywhere online where I can sample Macross art books? I'm looking to get a few but am not sure where to start. I'm really only interested in artbooks about the mechas, not the ones with the human cast so muhc.

I should mention that I've already checked out the artbooks on the main page but am not a B&W fan so would only be interested in colour

  7. Officially the first Macross toy I've played with. I love it to bits. I think the colours, the design and the stands all sync together so well to create a very wholesome figure. The attention to detail is great as well and I love all the little pegs. They are a bit frustrating yes but when you get it all together its very satisfying. The weight distribution could be improved but given that it has a stand (a beauty at that) I have no qualms. Its not like Transformers where there is no stand. I love the wings too. They're very dynamic and give lots of options as to how you want them to look.

Also, it's my first real experience of a toy having so many interchangeable parts. It really makes it a pain to go from pose to pose or to try different things but I do appreciate he added flexibility though storage will become an issue as I'll probably have to keep it close by as opposed to in storage.

Some queries/quibbles (me being unsure which is which since I'm a newb)

    - The helmet in armoured mode does not move with the head. It pretty much can only look directly in front. I have to cheat and remove it from the ball point.

    - The "crotch" plate. It falls off way too easy if I start to pose. Am I missing something? Or is there an easy fix?

    - Articulation in armoured mode: Very limited leg articulation in armoured mode. Only maybe 20-30 degrees of articulation. Makes it hard to do flight poses. The shoulders don't move, only from the elbow down.

    - The shoulder pads slip off a bit too easy.

Great addition to my collection and hopefully there will be many more!

  8. I just bought my Ex-Gear and SV-51 from Over-drive and there was a problem at the checkout. They didn't contact me, I had to contact them to confirm if they'd received my order. They did but ever since I haven't heard from them at all. I've sent them an e-mail last night about whether they'd sent it and tracking, no response. It's been a week since I first ordered.

I'm a pretty patient guy but at the least they should give me a status update. Not too satisfied atm
