I've been modeling for a few years before the kids came along so the Wife was used to that and quite accepting. I'm quite a time poor person since the kids, (I have two wonderful boys) but I still manage to slip in 1 or 2 hours of modeling before bed in the evening. I even manage to attend a local modeling group on one Saturday per month... Keeps me sane!! (I think!!!) Cheers, Jase.

Thanks Mark, I would love to go to MacAusCon next year..... Mate I chose the colours by eye to match my reference pix so thanks - I'm happy to get some feedback on that! The pilots are actually from the Academy tomcat kit (supplied by a good mate thanks Benjo) as the Italeri kit dosent come with any pilots, however to my complete and utter amezement they both fit perfectly into the seats and the cockpit!!! Now you have to admit that dosent happen very often. Great to hear from another Macross Aussie!! Cheers, Jase.

Its been a while in the making and not 100% acurate, but its nearing completion. Thanks to those who posted answers to my earlier questions here on macross world - your help has enabled me to build this. Macross Zero Tomcat 1:48 using the Italeri kit, spare Hasegawa burner cans, resin chin pod & tanks and decals made by my good mate Benjo (thanks dude). I am still adding oil paint washes with a flat coat, aamrams and sidewinders to come (along with landing gear) and some unmasking. More pics as I finish things. Thanks for looking. Jase

No mate, The great thing about the Kitech kit (and theres not many other great things about it) is that it comes with the canards (at lest the top half of them) and the wing tip pods. The exhaust nozzles are kit stock as well... they seemed to match my reference pics so I left them. Thanks for looking. Cheers,

Ok I'll try my luck here.... Acrylic paint is fast-drying paint containing pigment suspended in an acrylic polymer emulsion. Acrylic paints can be diluted with water, but become water-resistant when dry. The acrylic polymer begins to bind together when the paint dries. Typically the term "enamel paint" is used to describe an oil-based paint product. The paint undergoes a chemical reaction to dry. Hence the paint still smells wet after it is touch dry for a certain amount of time. Lacquer paints dry entirely by the evaporation of their solvent. The dried film will re-dissolve in its original solvent for an indefinite period of time; no chemical reaction occurs to alter the properties of the film. Generally, Lacquer topcoats are easy to use, fast drying, durable, and easy to buff. Now just to confuse the situation here.... There are also acrylic lacquers and acrylic enamels..... confused?? Just for your general info - Tamiya Acrylic Paint is actually an Acrylic Lacquer paint.... read the lacquer description above and swipe a rag soaked in alcahol across a kit painted in tamiya paint...... and you will see what I mean!!
