  1. Just finished a marathon, tiring and sweaty toy hunt, running from shop to shop to beat closing time.

No v.2 VF-25S to be found in Wanchai or Causeway Bay :(

In fact sad to say, the long-running Animate branch on Sugar street has closed down :(

Only one v.2 VF-25S to be found in Ins-Point in Yau Ma Tei, but the shop was asking an insane HK$1,800! :(

Finally found a shop with several v.2 VF-25S on the second floor of Richmond Center at 111 Argyle Street, Mong Kok, selling for HK$1,680.

As reported earlier, there are loads of v.2 VF-25F remaining in Hong Kong. I saw about a dozen tonight in various shops.Price averaging about HK$1,400.

When I get home tonight, will post a couple of quick unboxing pics.

Wish I were in HK! I'd want to pick up another VF-25F renewal! Sold out online or asking for $200 in most places.

    Great pics btw

  2. For a while I've been wanting to do "photo-shoots" with all my Valks. This weekend I decided to give it a test. I picked the VE-1 as my first subject. I ended up with a lot of pics which I plan on uploading to the MW Gallery later. In the meantime here is a sample :)

I really like the weathering work you did on it. Let us know when you've uploaded your pics. I'd love to see.

  3. I really like what Bandai did at the 1/100 scale. I do prefer the bigger 1/60 Yamato size tho. But if I can find this at $25, I'd pick up 2. Time to plan a trip to HK or Japan! :D

This thing has hard points on the wings right? If so, it looks like you might be able to leave the missiles on for battroid mode.

A previous pic showed little holes for the hardpoints like the Yamatos

  4. Borrowed from Cyber Gundam:

I am happy that I didn't buy the bundle; and damn Bandai that the reactive missles are finally here.

The extra stuff on tornado pack is looking a little silly. Makes me think the VF-25 was just not a good enough machine and needs a lot of extras like the VF-171

  5. I prefer consolodated threads. It's not like discussion on any of the DX toys generates a dozen new pages every day like some forums, even when they're new. Talk is generally so minimal that I rarely ever have to dig back even one page to catch up if I miss a day. Why have six threads with minimal comments getting spread out by lulls, when one thread with 120 comments is actually easier to follow and usually at the top of the list?

I agree with that. There's not much chatter on here lately. I prefer to check 1 thread for all my 1/60 frontier news than a separate one for each... like a mass production VF-27 thread :p

But for a casual visitor, i can see why it's annoying to trace back a few pages to catch up

    EDIT: typo

  6. Mine has exceeded 35 days and still counting.. HLJ has been reminding me each time i send my email regarding help to trace, stating the item will take longest 45 days to reach, and only after 90 days then japanese post office will begin to investigate.

I am so unhappy with their so call customer service and i am feeling so helpless... but lucky it's the mighty stand, not my VE-1..

otherwise i will be even more unhappy.

how is it HLJ customer service's fault when you shipped SAL and they clearly state that SAL is not trackable? maybe you should blame the mail service. HLJ already did their job by packing it up and shipping it.

  7. Really? Bringing toys on trips? Never thought of doing that... expecially not when I am sharing a hotel room with a colleague/ friend.

Mine are long business trips so it's a little diffrent. Doubt I'd have time to look at it if I were on a trip with friends. I brought my Alternity Convoy last year with me. I'm really tempted to bring my VF-1S Hikaru but i think he'll break somewhere in London during the connection. I wonder how Bandai's HiMetal VF-1 will turn out

  8. I can live with the legs, but the thought of having to pull off the head parts for transformation kinda bugs.

You're asking for too much from a 1/100 scale transformable toy ^_^

I'm stil looking for a small fun good looking toy to bring with me on my travels... this might be it. also considering a revoltech vf-1s non-transformable. maybe i'll bring a chunky monkey

  9. So, I'm confused, is the monster a Bandai DX or is a Robot Damashii figure?

Either way, I'm looking forward to all of thse

From all the pics I've seen, it looks like a transformable "Robot Damashii". It's not inscale with the other DX figures (so it's not 1/60).

  10. Found this youtube reviewer who pretty much says exactly what I said. He's probably more negative about it than I am though, but he does admit he's anti-revoltech. Anyway, major reason I'm posting this is because it shows all the flaws I was talking about. He gives the flaws a good amount of video time, and you can see in the rear of the gerwalk those mini dual revoltech joints I was talking about and why they're a problem. English is obviously his second language, but he's effective at making his points.

2010 Revoltech Yamaguchi - Macross Valkyrie VF-1S Review Pt 2

He also agrees with me that it looks really nice, but playability is pure frustration.

It looked really floppy in that video. if it wasn't so flimsy and parts came off, he might have been the toy i buy to travel with

  11. I also ordered stuff from the sale and all my valks came in excellent condition from HLJ. I never order collector quality from BBTS so I usually get dented boxes but good thing I open and play with my valks. I haven't had a problem with HLJ or BBTS and I've ordered from both numerous times.

It sounds odd that the pieces got wrapped into the milia. At least HLJ will take care of it but the shipping will suck :(

  12. I doubt it will just 'only few years'. Yamato just only starting to release mac7 toys after, like, 15 years. It's even possible for Bandai to hold the franchise forever, just like Gundam. Me too, hoping for better-looking Yamato-made -25 since I love it so much, but I won't wait that long. And even if I told to wait just 2-3 years, it's the same. Y'see, that's the whole point of this thread : to decide what VF-25 to get from what options available NOW.

Sunrise Animation put out Gundam and it's a subsidiary of Namco Bandai. So it isn't fair to compare that to Bandai holding the Macross Frontier license. But, as most ppl say, it's probably going to take a while before Yamato gets to it. But probably sooner than 15 years since Yamato is a relatively newcomer and Macross is a hot product right now.
