Sadly I've only been lurking around this site for a while without posting, but I had to commet on your work.

I love what you have done here, the paintwork and weathering is perfect. The more I look at the detail the more amazed I am.

Very inspiring.

Seeing stuff like this makes me wish I was a kid again. Nice job. Third pic in reminds me of the launch tubes in BSG and the landing decks from the Wing Commander games.

Both look awesome - my preference is the lighter sandy coloured one as it really brings out the detail, it looks almost lifesize.

Wait! just seen the wave mobile staff on e-bay, they aren't pre-painted for starters. I am sure that the qualty is similar though.

I'm not sure, I am quite now to making these things, and these were the first vehicles and figures I could find at this scale.

Print off decals:

Make foamcore shapes using decals as templates

Use hot glue gun to glue shapes together - (note strenghtening triangles)

Attach decals (CAREFULLY)

Voila!

I thought I'd show you images of some vehicles I bought to go with some Chara works Valkyries. They are great for dioramas.

They are called VOTOMS and come packaged in a similar way to the Chara works kits. They come complete and are incredibly detailed for such small items.

Nice... don't you have to pack it away everytime you do work or something though? It seems to take up the whole table! Or is that your Macross/Gundam shrine?

Actually the set fits into a couple of IKEA EXPIDIT shelves (around 13in square), the backdrop folds up and can be stowed away & the hangar sections in the backdrop are fixed with Velcro so the whole thing stows away surprisingly neatly.

So the wife is happy!

That looks really great! can't wait to see it painted. I have been looking for some vehicles but there are very few about.

I've been making my own stuff, not nearly as cool as yours. I have been using Foamcore to make buildings and backdrops for my macross and Gundam kits, here is a truck I made again from the foamy stuff.

I got round the wheels by inventing a Gravmag drive system - no wheels needed!

These.....are.....AWESOME.

Hey Skonchboy, Love the concept of your idea, you ought to try doing the deck of the Prometheus or something since you have some skill there!!

As it seems I have caused quite a stir (problem with texting and e-mails is they sometimes get taken the wrong way), so as an apology I have put together 2 runway decal sheets inspired by the Promethius. There are very few images of the flight deck, so I've used some arisitic licence. As soon as I get the chance I'll make a backdrop and hangar to go with it. The scale will most likely be 1/100 but the backdrops and runways are for most other scales.

My only suggestion is to keep it up, the pictures are fabulous, I love the kit, and the lack of weathering enhances the beauty of the design. With your permission, I'd love to use your picture is on my desktop.

If you're looking for 1/144 scale tanks, look for Takara's World Tank Museum series on Ebay. There are also 1/144 scale tanks by Dragon (look under Dragon 1/144 or Can.Do 1/144)

Other stuff like cars and whatnot could probably be found in model railroad accessories. I've read that N-scale model trains are close to 1/144 scale.

For 1/100 scale, to my knowledge there isn't much. There were some 1/100 scale military vehicles in the Johnny Lightning/Military Muscle diecast toy series. Look under "1/100 Johnny Lightning" or "1/100 Military Muscle" at Ebay

I don't know about this retailer, but those L-Gaim kits are usually pretty cheap anywhere you can find them.

Also check for 1/72 scale armor kits. There is a huge variety of kits in that scale, and they can easily be modified to fit into your desired scale.

What kind of vehicles are you looking for? Tanks? Tractors? Cars?

Anything really, for example, I've seen a 1/144 scale Thunderbirds rescue vehicle that's apparently remote control, it looks cool enough to customise but it is mahoosively expensive -link to it here: http://fabgearusa.com/1_144_rc_thunderbird...ry_vehicle.html . I just want stuff that would look ok in a diorama.

I tend to make modular dioramas that can be played with and re-arranged (my excuse is, is that I like to get my kids involved and I allow them to play with the stuff I make) so the more ideas the better really.

I'm looking for some ground vehicles to go with my Diorama / Playset but all I can find is a Gundam ground support vehicle. Does anyone know of other interesting ground vehicles that would fit into the Macross world and form part of a diorama?

Skonchboy, don't take the schizoMC too seriously. Your posts have all been pretty relevant and they each draw new fresh conversation from other forum members. Also, you reply in a timely manner and keep the threads on track as well.

If you are doing anything that needs to be changed, a mod will let you know. I'm sure they will let you know in a much more polite manner and with some helpful suggestions too.

Believe it or not I felt aweful after I read Mr Stinkypants's response. Although he did have a point, plus he did make some very positive posts as well, so don't be too hard on him.

I did go a bit mad making two posts in the other forum which is why I requested that one of them be terminated. I just thought that people making the models might like some of the decals for display purposes and my sets are neither Models nor Customs.

I am new to this Forum stuff, so it's a bit of a learning curve for me. Thank you for making me feel better

I used a program called Adobe Photoshop Elements. By starti with an A4 template at 300dpi I then filled in areas with a colour and then added effects using th airbrush tool.

Some of the more complicated textures were found by searching for game textures on Google.

Here are some images of my Macross Playset I made for the kids. Its 1/100 - 1/144 approx and is modular. I can be packed away into a small space and the boxes can hold the models.

Rock blunts scissors.... foamcore bends paper.

I think the runway decal/stickers would be great to put below any 1/72 stuff for shelving displays.
